Diner Reviews
  • "We elected to try Cole's for my birthday. While I was satisfied with my trout entgree, my husband was less than pleased with his TWO tries of entrees. The pastrami short ribs did not live up to its description, while the beef shoulder was OK, but not at the price. We will probably not come back. Disappointed."

  • "We were very pleased with our evening out in Lexington on a trip. The food was excellent and our waiter Larry was great. Would go again if in the area."

  • "Without question, Cole's is one of my favorite restaurants in and out of Lexington. On this occasion, my husband's colleague was staying with us as he began his preparations to move here from Greece. When we were in Greece, he had introduced us to the wonders of Greek cuisine, and we wanted to offer him the best of the Bluegrass. Once again, our experience was extraordinary on all levels. AND the Lexingtonian cocktail is delicious."

  • "This place is awesome. The service is great, they go out of their way to make your meal exactly like you want it, making substitutions and what not. It is a bit on the expensive side, but worth it. The NY strip is the best steak I've ever had (though I havent eaten more than a dozen places)."

  • "Coles just never disappoints. Amazing ambiance, food, wine and service. Cannot ask for anything more. Will continue to come back! Keep up the fantastic work!"

  • "The food was excellent, with a regular dinner menu and an intriguing Bar Bites menu for lighter fares (although I did have to ask for it). The service was friendly, attentive, and professional. I will definitely be back! The decor could be immproved upon... I say keep the mural paintings and loose the supposed "French" decor."

  • "My husband and I love Coles! The fried avocado and crab starter is a must! The steak is the best in town! The desserts are always on point! I've always had the luck of sitting in Larry's section and he is amazing!"

  • "We made an excellent choice when we chose to eat at Cole's during Restaurant Week. Six of us had dinner and all agreed their meals were prepared to perfection. Our waiter did an excellent job. It was a very vibrant scene at the restaurant."

  • "I live literally across the street and had been in the building for many, many, many other restaurants during the year but the Restaurant week promotion got my daughter, grandson and myself in the door. A great choice. We will be back often. I wound up skipping the restaurant week specials for the Baked Brie app and the roast duck. Each was incredible. My grandson got the salmon and mixed greens and loved them. My daughter got the steak entire and a fascinating tomato based salad and loved it. We will definitely be back. Server was a veteran who had worked with my daughter 20 years ago at another restaurant. Small world. Great choice. Don McNay, www.mcnayconsulting.com"

  • "We've been trying multiple new (to us) restaurants during Lexington's Restaurant Week, and so far Coles is definitely #1. While we tried different appetizers and desserts, all four of us wanted the beef shoulder as our entree (I didn't even know there was such a cut of meat). It was prepared exactly how each of us ordered it with an absolutely wonderful mix of flavors from the huge bed of sauteed mushrooms and truffle sauce complementing the rich, tender beef slices cooked to perfection. Not a morsel left on any of our plates! The restaurant was packed, even on a Monday night, so be sure to make reservations (Open Table)."

  • "We were visiting Lexington during Restaurant Week and decided to try Coles 735 Main for the first time. We had a wonderful meal, I had the chicken dish and my sister had the beef. Both were wonderfully prepared and we both had a very tasty salad for our first course. The Creme Brulee was a perfect dessert. Our waiter, Jerod, was very efficient with careful attention to detail, but not hovering, which is exactly the way I like my service. We will certainly return to Cole's whenever we are in Lexington"

  • "We very much enjoyed our dinner and evening at Cole's. We had waited to try it but waited until restaurant week because we had heard it was very expensive. This way we could afford both the well-reviewed avocado appetizer as well as an entree. Everything was delicious, the service was fabulous, and we liked the atmosphere."

  • "I actually made the reservation on behalf of an employee. She had asked me for a recommendation of a place for she and her husband to celebrate their anniversary. When I made the reservation, I requested a window seat, explaining that the dinner was an anniversary celebration. The next morning, she came in and raved about the food, service and atmosphere. What was especially impressive was the she and her husband were presented with a bottle of champagne and a dessert, on the house. They had not mentioned the anniversary, it had been picked up from the reservation notation. Thank you so much for making their night so special."

  • "We are never disappointed when we dine at Coles. From start to finish....they have our favorite wine. The brie and house made crackers a must. The heirloom tomato salad delicious. The filet is beyond compare and the desserts if we have room are as good as it gets. Hands down the best place to eat in Kentucky."

  • "The food is always wonderful. Chef Cole is creative and consistent. I have eaten most of the items on the menu and have enjoyed them all. The Avocado appetizer is a favorite and I order it every visit!"

  • "What a pleasure to have Cole's in Lexington!!! The epicurean twists on Kentucky favorites are imaginative and delicious, of course. The service is also pretty top knotch. It's always a treat for us!!"

  • "First time visit but I will return. The ambiance was great and the service was very good although a bit slow (I think) because they were so busy. I like my steak grilled "Pittsburgh style", medium rare. The New York strip steak ordered was grilled perfectly and was delicious; perhaps the best I have enjoyed in Lexington. The wedge salad with Gorgonzola, blue cheese and bacon was served sliced and was the perfect companion to a great steak. Highly recommend."

  • "Very interesting starters and entrees; dishes were tasty and well presented. My duck breast was cooked to perfection and the panko fried avocado was as original as enjoyable. They could improve their choice for desserts: cookies, ice cream or cheesecake are not very exciting for this type of restaurant, while I would definitely keep the delicious bourbon ball flourless chocolate cake."

  • "We enjoyed our 47th anniversary with a wonderful dinner at Cole's. The food was wonderful and delicious, our waiter, Brian, was very helpful. We enjoyed the baby back ribs with the Asian touch and the trout was mouth watering. Both of us were taken with the presentation of the "wedge". The whole evening was fantastic and being at Cole's just a block from our condo made a perfect event. We could not have found a better place to celebrate this special day in our marriage. Thanks"

  • "I was at Cole's about a month ago and had the trout, went back this week and there was a lot of difference in the dish. The trout was still good, but the accompaniments were not the same and very slight and not very good. The dish was left very plain on the plate. Tomato risotto ordered on side was splendid. I love consistency in a restaurant. But it's still a great place. Other dishes at table of 4 were very good. Tomato salad special was a bit overpriced at $12.00 for 3 slices of tomato."
