A word from Cola's Restaurant
Located in a lovingly restored 1930's RC Cola bottling plant, Cola's is a "casual" fine dining bar/restaurant specializing in seafood, steaks and other culinary creations influenced by a broad range of ethnic cooking. There is an emphasis on fresh ingredients and locally grown food where possible.
Weather permitting, two garage doors open up the restaurant to views of the Statehouse and allow our guests to enjoy the bustle of downtown Columbia. Cola's boast a 40 foot long bar, equipped with a rolling ladder to access our extensive wine selection. If preferred, try one of our house cocktails or choose a brew from our large selection of bottled beers.
Cola's has ample room to host your private functions in either of the two private dining rooms, seating up to as many as 50. Large booths adorn the main dining room and there is table seating for small and large parties.

We love Cola's on Assembly Street in Columbia. Phenomenal food in a great atmosphere! The staff is always so friendly and helpful too!!! We decided to order the fresh sockeye salmon over fresh soccatash with a vinegarette sauce and it was superb!!! The chef did an excellent job preparing our meal exactly as we ordered it!

I got the whole flounder and it was superior. When I order it again, I will ask for the apricot shallot sauce on the side as it was a little sweet but delicious. I substituted the fries for grits which were the best ever! We had a great time.

Cola's dishes are very well-prepared and use a wonderful combination of spices and ingredients to take Southern cuisine to a higher ground. However, the use of butter, a Southern favorite, overpowers many of the dishes which could easily stand on their own accord given the wonderful ingredients. Furthermore, the butter permeates all of the dishes, creating a monotonous taste. The service is great, the dishes are interesting, and the "garage door" windows that open to the street create a fabulous atmosphere of al fresco dining.

Wow, what a find! From the moment we pulled up to find ample parking to the very end when our waitress carried the flowers I bought for my girl friend out to our car, we were impressed. I had asked for a table in a quiet location and received without a doubt the quietest table in the restaurant. We were met by smiling faces, well dressed women with positive attitudes. We were escorted to our table and introduced to our waitress. Our waitress turned out to be full of life, intelligent and well versed in the menu. She, as did others knew when to come to the table and when not to. They used words like, thank you, excuse me, and your welcome. The food was fabulous and presented perfectly. The wine list was sufficient. Dessert was great!

We started our night at the bar and were the only ones there. Bar staff was slow to engage with us especially on a slow night with all the wait staff hanging around the bar. Mojito was all ice in a short glass and $9. Went to our table and after a bit of a wait for a server the dinner was great. Appetizers of Bloody Mary Fried Oysters and Shrimp Dumplings were great and Scored and Flash Fried Flounder was as good as what I get on Fla coast. Salmon with BBQ glaze and pear chutney served over grits for the wife and she loved it. Overall excellent food quality and presentation. Waitress was attentive and knowledgeable.

From the moment we settled in at the bar for pre-dinner drinks, to the end of the evening when the cake and champagne were cleared off, we were handled and fed very very well! Everyone on staff was knowledgeable, energetic, clearly (and justifiably) proud of their kitchen and the drinks offerings. Food was top-notch. We had a small family celebration and were seated in a very comfortable, slightly tucked-away booth that worked perfectly for the occasion: not a private room, but we felt just set off enough from the regular tables.

i took my parents and uncle here to celebrate my dad's 67th birthday. we'd never been before. we ordered the CRISPY SESAME ASPARAGUS, it was good but not worth $12 for 5 sticks. my mom liked her SHRIMP SUCCOTASH. dad and i ordered the 8oz FILET MIGNON OF BEEF, he got his medium well, i got mine medium, i'd we enjoyed it. my uncle got the VEGGIE PLATE, he didn't touch the sweet potato tho. dessert was good, my parents shared the CREME BRULEE, my uncle got the STRAWBERRY LIME SORBET, and i got the CHOCOLATE TORTE but we all wanted the CHEWY CHOCOLATE BROWNIE WITH COFFEE ICE CREAM which they ran out of. the waiter was did a good job of tending to us, he even put a candle in the middle of the CREME BRULEE for my dad. our table was wobbling.

While the ambiance and feel of a restaurant are very important, all of those characteristics can be rendered useless if service is not up to par. This is definitely the case, concerning Cola's. If your service is impeccable, you can get away with over-charging for a vegetable plate, or even for a mediocre veal scalopini saltimboca. At Cola's, the poor service made the average food even worse, and the prices were not worth the dining experience. If Cola's doesn't fix their service issues, the just-ok cooking will eventually become the focus of increased scrutiny, and diners will realize the poor value being received on a nightly basis. Cola's should think about the effectiveness of their service training program, currently being employed.

This was the 2nd time I have been to Colas, first time was for Thanksgiving dinner - not as dressy as I would have liked and very low energy at this time. This time we went before the Steely Dan concert so it was packed and very lively. We did sat far away from the open windows so it was a little warm for me but over all I had a great time, ambiance was great and food was good. They have a very limited wine by the glass list and the specials should be on paper to review, way too many to remember! the waiters also need to wait before taking plates away - I don't wolf my food down and don't want to feel rushed. overall very good experience. great dinner with my boyfriend

We arrived early, sat at the bar while we waited & were promptly greeted. We ordered drinks, mine via suggestion, & shortly our table was ready. I offered it to the next group but it was a party of 6 and the table was a 4 top so we closed out & took our seats. It took our waiter a bit to get to us. He told us the specials & market prices. We ordered (my husband via recommendation) & our food was dropped off quickly. My food (Lamb penne) was nothing worth writing about. My husband enjoyed his swordfish. Our server must have had too many tables or a picky one because someone else brought our food, filled our drinks, etc. Felt rushed & neglected by our server. The bar and hostess were the saving grace. Also, it was very loud.

We discovered this spot while looking for a place to go for a friends birthday. The service was great and it has a fairly comprehensive wine, beer, and drinks menu that compliments their menu-with a few notables that are hard to find elsewhere. The service was great, but the menu is somewhat lacking in terms of variety and availability. The appetizers are more than enough to share. Overall, this was a nice find that we had heard about but had often drove by in favor of restaurants and establishments we knew more about and had more local press. It is a place we will consider for future dining going forward.

The open window (at first we thought it was just incredibly clean) is a neat idea and added to our enjoyment and the temperature at our table was fine. • Odd Way to Treat Customers

We arrived on time but were told there was a wait. Odd because half the tables were empty. Refused to seat us in the attractive main dining area, seating us instead in a very unattractive "private dining room". What was the point of a reservation and why wouldn't they seat us in an area where most tables were empty? Food and service were OK. I would not return to this restaurant for their careless customer service, valuing their seating process over the desires of their customers. I've never had such an experience before. I do not recommend this restaurant.

The ambiance was beautiful, the server we had could not have been more accomodating and the food was amazing! Even the drink selection was extensive, creative and hip! We had Strawberry, lime mojitoes...killer. The BLT salad with the candied bacon was roll your eyes back delicious. For dinner, my two friends had the flash fried flounder...OMG is all I can say, and for the those who love a cream based sauce, I had the shrimp and grits...amazing! Loved it and will go again when I return!!! Got lots of opportunities now that my son is going to school there!

As we were dining on a holiday the restaurant was not crowded, and we had excellent service. The poached pear salad was different and delicious. I truly enjoyed a humongous thick pork chop that had a tasty crust, milanese style. My wife had the special swordfish, which she raved about. We also liked the ability to bring our own wine with a reasonable corkage fee. The server was very friendly and helpful.

I'm from Louisville Ky where there is an award winning chef on every corner....Colas must be surviving because of its downtown location and politicians spending someone else's money to OVERpay for mediocrity. I really don't mind a $120 meal when it's worth it...Colas is not. Loved almost everything about it....a fantastic margarita, wine list and atmosphere. My son ordered an 8 oz filet that was supposed to be medium...but it was rare. My daughter's spice rubbed chicken appeared to have been from a quail instead, it was dry and over seasoned. I ordered shrimp and grits, they had a wonderful flavor but they were skimpy with the sauce. The garnish of lightly fried green onions was unnecessary and should be dropped...a disappointing meal!
