A word from Cocotte
Cocotte is French inspired dining in the Concordia neighborhood of NorthEast Portland. In the heart of the buzzy NE 30th Restaurant Row, Cocotte is lively, romantic, cozy, and exciting. Specializing in seafood and small game, the menu is driven by local produce and fishing seasons. Regions can be found within seasons. Provence and Côte d'Azur in summer, Normandy & Loire in fall, Burgundy & Alsace in winter, Languedoc and Auvergne in spring.

Perfect for happy hour, date night, a celebration, or dinner with friends, Cocotte is a Parisian escape in Portland. Diners say it's hard not to fall in love with this Parisian bistro. The food is inventive, fresh, and seasonal. The service is welcoming, attentive, and unobtrusive. The decor is classic period French bistro in a 100 year old historic Portland building.

Come see for yourself. Cocotte is your new favorite place in Portland.

We have taken to softening the blow of another work week by having dinner Sunday evening at Cocotte. The food is always wonderful and the lovely ambience is just what makes ending the weekend not so sad. Special kudos to nice, small details like delicately flavored butter for the bread and lovely plating!

We have eaten at Cocotte several times previously and enjoyed it. Our last dining experience there was somewhat less satisfactory. Sometimes, a lot of intangible and tangible factors combine to subtract from an experience. Eating at Cocotte exemplified that. I felt the service desultory and distracted, the food marginal, and the nose level a detriment to conversation. Because Cocotte is fairly expensive, I would expect food, service, and ambiance to to be more commensurate with the final bill. It was not. Like so many Portland restaurants, perhaps Cocotte is coasting on its laudatory past without noticing that it's losing speed and beginning to wobble a bit.

Always wonderful, the food is superb. I only had issue with the crunchy things on top of the escargot. They were a little off putting to me. I like my escargot buttery, rich, and smooth. Everything else was magnificent though. Highly recommend the pate.

Cocotte was all we hoped for and a little more. Excellent food and a good value. The bar menu covers a good range of options. The bruschetta and chicken liver mousse we very tasty. I had the signature dish chicken, and it was as good as chicken gets. The burger was exceptional. Good wines by the glass. Put this on your not to be missed list. PS: I'm a tough grader compared to average.

Good service. Loved the housemade liver pate. Mushroom risotto was good. Grilled endives tasted mostly of char, plus a bit of chopped sardine, and we only ate 2 out of 3. The house specialty, poulet de cocotte, was a bit too dry and not worth $25. The farro that came with the chicken was ok. For drinks, we ordered a red by-the-glass and an old-fashioned; both were priced on the high end and neither were stellar. We put a note on the reservation that it was for a 40th birthday celebration and asked for a good table, but I think they didn't see that.... our table was at the end of the dining area close to the walk-way for servers. Not a terrible table but almost any table would have been better. We did get seated right away.

We attended Cocotte with a group of five for my boyfriend's birthday. The staff and owners were incredibly helpful with menu and drink decisions, and the food was AMAZING! Our group ordered many of the small dishes such as the escargot, kale salad, chicken liver mousse, salmon mousse, and grilled delicata squash. We also split a few of the larger plates (the cod and crepinette "burger") which equally were satisfying. Our group's sweet tooth was then met with pretty much everything on the dessert menu. To say the least, we left Cocotte with smiles on our faces and full bellies.

We went with 2 couples to celebrate our daughter's birthday and the service was incredible. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the food and wine and had a great attitude. He made our dinner very special and we loved the food. We had cocktails, appetizers, entrees and dessert wine and every course was outstanding. We had a great night and enjoyed the ambiance of this Paris bistro in Portland.

Located almost next to Beast and across from a few other small, innovative restaurants, this looks like it has been on the corner of 30th and Killingsworth forever. Had a roasted romaine salad with was good. The albacore was truly rare and as tender as Ahi tuna. the sauces and presentation were very flavorful.. The chocolate pudding was dark and crunchy and delicious.

I decided to try this little neighborhood gem as I love France and the cuisine, this spot did not disappoint!! The servers were excellent, I had read other reviews saying the service was not so great, but we had a wonderful experience. Our server was very attentive, went over the menu, his personal favorites, and some great suggestions. The poulet en cocotte was phenomenal, as was the crepinette burger,I was thoroughly impressed. As we were all the items we ordered. The dessert, fantastic and the drinks to die for. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and the food. We will be back!

Very good and reasonably priced bistro fare. We especially loved the liver mousse. My companion described it as the texture of softened ice cream. I had a series of small plates and they were quite filling so I cancelled the final salad. I recommend trying as many of their signature dishes as possible.

After making a reservation well in advance of our trip to Portland, and looking forward to a great dining experience, we were offered a table right in the entry way and almost in the street. There were nice tables sitting empty but we were told they were reserved for special customers. I guess our reservation was not special. We will not return.

My wife and I went to Cocotte for our recent anniversary and had a wonderful meal with excellent service. The waiter was knowledgable and helped guide us to delicious wine pairings (even poured a few to taste first). He didn't rush us but was always there filling up water glasses or taking dishes away. The atmosphere was lively, but it's a small enough place that it never got loud. The tables are are little snuggly packed, but the food itself was amazing. Very interesting, and completely delicious. The chicken over risotto and poached egg was particularly enjoyable, as was the bar drink menu ("The Last Word" and "Daiquiri"--yum!). I sort of wish we'd stayed for dessert, but we ended up Lauretta Jean's for some amazing pie.

We have been going to Cocette every so often when we come into town. The food is very good. The drinks are a little pricey. This last visit, however, we were the first ones to arrive for dinner (it was completely empty). We had made a reservation. The hostess in a very unkind tone told us she could not seat us anywhere but in the middle of the room, in spite of there being several 4-tops open. All of the 4 tops remained opened for an hour after we were seated. Her leading unaccommodating impression made us almost walk out. We needed at that time to be taken care of, and they fell down on that one. Our waitress, however was great. Not sure if we will be back.

We had a lovely Saturday evening dinner at Cocotte. We sat outside on a perfect evening looking back into the charming and bustling restaurant through the open window panels. Our server was always there at the right time quietly doing his job without pretense. We enjoyed watching the neighborhood dining scene as this is a corner with many restaurants at this intersection. By the end of the evening we felt we had chosen the very best one. The food had wonderful flavors and combinations. Three of us sat on the sidewalk, on a perfect summer evening, and reveled in the food and service of Cocotte. The street was noisy, lots of great people-watching as that corner sports multiple "hot spots," and undaunted, we ordered perfect (and strong) Manhattans, shared appetizers (mussels, green gazpacho, and berry salad) and two entrees - burger and Pacific cod. When it came time for dessert, the waiter recommended the lemon curd and it was the perfect end to the dinner. (I would have licked the dish if no one was watching!) We will go back for SURE!

This was our second trip to Cocotte with both turns very successful. Cocotte is a small, very pleasant room. The menu though not huge by any means is very well balanced. There is a pleasant list of wines by the glass and we had a very nice glass of ale. Service is knowledgeable and thoughtful. Both our appetizers and entrees where very good indeed. This is a bistro to know. I don't think it would disappoint anyone.
