A word from Cocotte
Cocotte is French inspired dining in the Concordia neighborhood of NorthEast Portland. In the heart of the buzzy NE 30th Restaurant Row, Cocotte is lively, romantic, cozy, and exciting. Specializing in seafood and small game, the menu is driven by local produce and fishing seasons. Regions can be found within seasons. Provence and Côte d'Azur in summer, Normandy & Loire in fall, Burgundy & Alsace in winter, Languedoc and Auvergne in spring.

Perfect for happy hour, date night, a celebration, or dinner with friends, Cocotte is a Parisian escape in Portland. Diners say it's hard not to fall in love with this Parisian bistro. The food is inventive, fresh, and seasonal. The service is welcoming, attentive, and unobtrusive. The decor is classic period French bistro in a 100 year old historic Portland building.

Diner Reviews
  • "We have been going to Cocette every so often when we come into town. The food is very good. The drinks are a little pricey. This last visit, however, we were the first ones to arrive for dinner (it was completely empty). We had made a reservation. The hostess in a very unkind tone told us she could not seat us anywhere but in the middle of the room, in spite of there being several 4-tops open. All of the 4 tops remained opened for an hour after we were seated. Her leading unaccommodating impression made us almost walk out. We needed at that time to be taken care of, and they fell down on that one. Our waitress, however was great. Not sure if we will be back."

  • "We love this place! The staff is friendly and helpful with recommendations. The cafe outside completes this Jewell in nopo!"

  • "I have been to Cocotte at about 6 different times of the evening. It is growing in popularity because now I have to have reservations. One time I got off a plane and drove there for a late night meal. So nice to know there is a good meal waiting for me at the end of a long day."

  • "Reservation was initially for 4 and at last minute was able to change for 5 with no difficulty. Asked for a candle in one of desserts and that donme nicely. Food was very good although the Sea Bass a bit overcooked and a bit tough. Otherwise the rest was fun and all 5 of us had a great evening."

  • "We had a lovely Saturday evening dinner at Cocotte. We sat outside on a perfect evening looking back into the charming and bustling restaurant through the open window panels. Our server was always there at the right time quietly doing his job without pretense. We enjoyed watching the neighborhood dining scene as this is a corner with many restaurants at this intersection. By the end of the evening we felt we had chosen the very best one. The food had wonderful flavors and combinations. All of our choices were outstanding. the atmosphere was casual but of the highest quality in every regard."

  • "We had a very good experience, although we did find ourselves asking our server where our food was a few times. Just seemed to take longer than expected to be served. However, the food was great and staff was very friendly. I'd recommend for sure."

  • "The restaurant is in a quieter place off Killingsworth compared to busyness of Alberta. Nice to have a good French-American restaurant open on Sundays."

  • "Three of us sat on the sidewalk, on a perfect summer evening, and reveled in the food and service of Cocotte. The street was noisy, lots of great people-watching as that corner sports multiple "hot spots," and undaunted, we ordered perfect (and strong) Manhattans, shared appetizers (mussels, green gazpacho, and berry salad) and two entrees - burger and Pacific cod. When it came time for dessert, the waiter recommended the lemon curd and it was the perfect end to the dinner. (I would have licked the dish if no one was watching!) We will go back for SURE!"

  • "Just a lovely, tasty meal, interesting combination of flavors (rock fish). We sat outside so can't comment on the inside seating. Been there before and will go again."

  • "This was our second trip to Cocotte with both turns very successful. Cocotte is a small, very pleasant room. The menu though not huge by any means is very well balanced. There is a pleasant list of wines by the glass and we had a very nice glass of ale. Service is knowledgeable and thoughtful. Both our appetizers and entrees where very good indeed. This is a bistro to know. I don't think it would disappoint anyone."

  • "Overall, a very pleasant experience. the salmopn mousse needs more bread, however. Nice, relaxed service. We ordered in stages and the server was not intrusive at all. We gave a taste of the wine we brought and the chef sent out a little sheese which paired beautifully. Nice Touch!!"

  • "Cocotte was rated as one of Portlands top 40 restaurants, after dining there Saturday night my wife and I agree. The duck prosciutto and chicken liver mousse were great appetizers. I had the poulet en cocotte and it was outstanding, my wife had the carrot soup and loved it. Highly recommended."

  • "Very busy on Father's Day night and it took about 10 minutes for our waitress to return with our beverages. Seems that they were understaffed? My husband enjoyed his pork chop, daughters enjoyed carrot soup& steamed clams. My wild salmon was good but not "Wow!" It needed a sauce- a bit dry. Desserts were good. Nothing wrong with this place- just had read great reviews and expected more. There's one bathroom so there can be a line to use. All in all a satisfactory experience but won't return."

  • "I love this restaurant. The food is so interesting, beautifully prepared and well-timed. We never feel rushed, over-served or feel as if we are not getting our food served in an appropriate period of time. The house designed cocktails are a bit odd for my taste, but the wine selection is wonderful and our server was able to provide just what I needed in a sparkling wine."

  • "A lovely evening for a party of six... Great starters except the raw oysters (a mouthful of crumbled shell in mine and some others). The app's outshone the entrees, but all we're well prepared and enjoyed."

  • "This restaurant definitely surpassed our expectations. Each dish was complex with incredibly well blended flavors. We started with the escargot and rabbit livers. Both had fennel but the other flavors were different and accentuated the appetizer. Each entree was excellent and it was hard to decide if the pork, rabbit crepinette or the halibut with risotto but as we shared tastes; everyone liked all three dishes. Truly excellent. The Cote Du Rhone wines was fairly priced and very good as well."

  • "The service here is perfect - they check on you without hovering. There were three of us and we shared 5 plates and it was perfect. One of the best escargot dishes I have ever had. Everything is fresh and tasty. Drinks are inventive as well - give this place a try!"

  • "Our party shared a smoked salmon mousse appetizer that was a revelation. My husband had the rabbit crepinette, a delicious savory dish with a delicate overlay of cherry offset by a hint of mustard. I had salmon with asparagus and leeks, with a lemony sauce along the edge of the plate that gave just the right bright contrast to the fish. Our son had halibut with roasted mushrooms in a puddle of intensely flavored broth so delicious I almost regretted my own choice. The table shared a bottle of French sauvignon blanc, fairly priced and just right for all the dishes. Food and service were absolutely outstanding, as always. The venue, which is charming, could be quieter for us older guests, but Cocotte is worth it. Go."

  • "Cocotte was the perfect spot to spend a last dinner with my friend before she jets off to France for a month! The food at Cocotte was excellent, the waiters were very cute and the service was fantastic. We were there 2.5 hours and did not feel we were rushed through dinner, even though it was the dinner hour. I was able to use my Passport Card for a substantial savings. Thank you for a great experience Cocotte! "

  • "All four of us raved about our meal; it was great. Staff was wonderful and very accommodating. It did get a little noisy as the restaurant filled up. They have wonderful window doors that open when the weather is warm. Great experience!"

  • "A gem of a neighborhood restaurant...where they happen to serve the most wonderful chicken liver mousse, and a plate of warm, herbed olives that's just delicious. We enjoyed our meal very much. Two of us had halibut, one had the rabbit. The portions were so generous I myself could have shared, and the wines by the glass were just right with the menu. What makes this place stand apart though are the ambiance and the service. We live in SE, and while the restaurants over here are as good as their press says they are, most of the servers are caught up in their own scene and the diner plays the audience. At Cocotte, the waitstaff is welcoming and relaxed, but professional. Relief! A lovely place, with reasonable prices. We'll be back. "

  • "My husband and I went on a Friday night. We found it not too crowded and friendly. We were seated right away in a neat little corner with windows. We found the place to be quite relaxing. The simple decor made me feel at home. I would recommend only having one appetizer before the main course as opposed to two. I loved the pickled plate, which had duck eggs with the yolk that was like caramel. I ordered the wild salmon, and he had the pork chop. Both were generous portions. We ate way to much! The wine list was very short so it you may want to bring your own. "

  • "I enjoyed the restaurant, everything good except I think the wine is very overpriced. It does annoy me when restaurants over charge for wine."

  • "very true to the bistro style. excellent chicken liver pate. the chicken leg confit was excellent too. thought both the pork chop and chicken breast were well prepared and cooked to perfection. adding a little something to moisten both the pork chop and chicken breast a bit more would be my only recommendation. the room reminded me of Paris and in general thought it was very nice.
