Diner Reviews
  • "We come here frequently anyway but they put together an excellent menu for Summer Restaurant Week, a 3- course dinner for $25.14, including full size salad, entree with side vegetables, and dessert (the mini vanilla creme brûlée was just enough to satisfy my sweet tooth)!"

  • "I was very excited to eat at Coco's Bistro-the menu read amazingly. I enjoyed the atmosphere; dark, multi-room, multi-level and fun cheetah carpet. Service was good. Our waitress was attentive and we never had to ask for anything, but the visit itself was LONG-almost 2.5 hours-and not because we took our time. We went during restaurant week, so it was a limited menu- selections happened quickly. I ordered the filet, which is what I would've ordered without a limited menu. We also ordered an additional appetizer and different dessert for an up-charge. The fried brie was delicious, but I wish there would've been more than bread as a side; apples, pears, nuts, etc. Filet was just okay. I asked for medium and it was definitely rare. And tough."

  • "The food was excellent including the appetizer, salad (the honey balsamic vinaigrette was fantastic), main course, and dessert. It is rare to find a restaurant were the entire meal without exception is exceptional. We have found a gem."

  • "Server, Tyler, was excellent. Very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and wine selections. Noise level was a bit high but tolerable. All dinners were very good to excellent."

  • "Three couples for our anniversaries. This was our first time to dine here. All were pleased with their meals, especially the trout. We had three appetizers, fried spinach (has to be requested), scallops and coconut shrimp. All were very tasty. We had a casual three hour dinner with friends, ordering one course at a time."

  • "I always feel like I'm in another city when we eat here. Probably the closest thing to the "NY city restaurant" scene we have here in the Dayton area, with a lot friendlier service. A little pricey, but not overly so for the quality, and worth every penny, especially for special occasions. Went here for an anniversary dinner, and couldn't have been better! A+++"

  • "First time at Coco's. The service was horrible. After being seated, it took a good 10 minutes to have anyone come to our table with water. When the waiter did return, he would spend seconds before speeding off to another table. We made the mistake of ordering the overpriced scallops as an appetizer (3 items/ 16 !) , had various beef and seafood entrees, all on the dry side. The side of cheddar mashed potatoes had large chunks of onions that added no taste but did add textural weirdness. The honey balsamic dressing must have missed the balsamic part of the recipe-pure honey. Salad dressed with honey - yuch. There are several other choices in a 10 mile radius that offer fresh food creatively at reasonable prices. That's where I'll be."

  • "Our first visit to the "new" - and larger - Coco's Bistro. Well received by the friendly hostess and introduced to the menu and wine list by a knowledgeable and competent waiter. An adequate and reasonably priced wine list with a good variety of menu offerings. Our two meals ( featuring chicken and duck) were well accompanied by a Bordeaux wine. Good, attentive service made for a pleasant first visit."

  • "I loved everything about it. Great improvement-last setting was very enjoyable too-over 1st restaurant. Very nice place to dine anytime. Lunch price was right for the nice portions."

  • "We had what appeared to be an inexperienced waiter. There was a significant delay in every aspect of the process. In an effort to expedite the process at the end, I gave the waiter my credit card before receiving the bill. He didn't place it in the black bill container. He carried it on top of the container, then laid it down on a ledge (my credit card laying on top) to come back and clear our table. Thus leaving my credit card available for any passer by to pick up and take away."

  • "I treated my out of town guests to dinner at Coco's. We were promptly seated. My only issue was that the host, blithely threw our menus on the table and walked away with Have a seat. I was pretty offended because it was so rude. Then I noticed he did it with everyone. Very bad form in my opinion if the guy you have at the front of the house is rude. Service was slow. Our waitress was ok, but she would leave for long periods of time, never inquired as to how we were doing or if we needed anything. I am all for letting people have a pleasant experience but there is a fine line between smothering and ignoring guests that I think they have to find at Coco's. Thankfully when the food arrived it was nice and hot, tasted wonderful. Overall so so"

  • "I went to CoCos for my birthday dinner. The atmosphere was nice, but were the restaurant really excelled was with it's service and food. My waitress Kelly was awesome ! Her suggestions for my house salad and entrée were excellent. She found the proper balance between checking to see how my meal was going and not hovering too much."

  • "I had been here with friends and decided this would be a nice place for my husband and I to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. I made a note on Open Table and didn't really think anything about it. When it came time for the check, our server said the dessert had been taken care of. As we left, the hostess said she hoped we had a wonderful anniversary. Everything about this restaurant was perfect and I don't think it was just because it was our anniversary. I can't wait to go back."

  • "As a UD alum I've passed by Coco's numerous times heading back to the interstate and always wanted to check it out. We had tickets to a show at the Schuster and decided it was a good excuse to finally check it out. My husband had the duck and I ordered the special, filet kabobs. Portions were good but not too large and well seasoned. We ordered the scallops for an appetizer and were honestly the best scallops I've ever eaten. I will definitely recommend this to my friends and hope to visit again soon."

  • "My wife and I first checked out Coco's the day I finished my last class at Wright State for my bachelor degree (mid-life career-changer). Coco's was recommended highly by my professor, classmate, and our group project facilitator. We just went there again with friends and my wife said that it is her favorite overall restaurant. The food, the atmosphere, the staff - all are incredible. We spent 2 1/2 hours there and enjoyed every minute. The ribeye dinner was one of the best steaks I've ever had and the grill-cheese bites with tomato bisque are to die for. We're sure you will enjoy this local gem."

  • "This was the first time that I have been to Coco's but I had heard positive things about it. I was not disappointed; it was great. I was there for lunch with work associates and it was a pleasure; the service was good and the food was fabulous. I will most definitely be returning for lunch as well as planning a dinner in the near future. "

  • "Everything was wonderful....except for the parking and the view from our table. We had to park way down a side street, no where near the restaurant......and the view from my seat was right into the kitchen. Ruined the ambience right there~ Maybe a wall with swinging doors?......that would not only block the unwanted view but also the kitchen noise. Also, there was a wedding in the back room. The wait staff kept leaving those doors open, which only added to the noise level in that back corner. However, our server was friendly, professional and knowledgeable and the food was fabulous! "

  • "My group of four and I dined here for our Senior Prom night. It was absolutely fabulous. We are a group of teenagers, but we were treated like mature young adults. Our server was very nice, engaging, and funny. I would request her next time I go (unfourtunately I forgot her name after a long night). The food was splendid, particularly the Brie. Definitely would like to return! "

  • "Over the years, we've dined countless times at Coco's (both the new & old location). After our most recent visit, I just don't think we'll be back due to the inconsistencies in food quality and service. On a good night, the food is delicious and 'plate licking good' served by a personable, friendly and efficient staff. On a bad night, things are overcooked, over-seasoned, dry and delivered by someone who makes like you are an inconvenience. We took my mother here Mother's Day weekend...server was very attentive and went the extra mile...but the food was such a disappointment. I ordered the Filet cooked Med; it arrived brown throughout. Mom's fish and Hubby's chicken were both overcooked, as well, and dry. Sorry...for us, they've struck out."
