"I was looking forward to this restaurant, the reviews on Bay Area Check Please were good. The great part about this place is the outstanding service - they make a real effort to please you & are a very well trained staff. The part I found lacking is that the food is not worth the price. 2 areas I think need to be improved upon before I would return is 1st the portion sizes are too small for the price. Many restaurants in SF offer great quality food w/a decent size portion. We're not talking Max's Opera Cafe here either! Secondly, side items like the Polenta was soupy, you couldn't eat it w/a fork, the pea shoots portion you could fit in 1/2 cup & the beef cheeks were over fried in batter & dry. I like the place & hope they see this..."

"Each dish is exquisitely prepared-you cannot go wrong here. The green beans are a must! The whole fish recently was perfect, moist and the server did a masterful job of boning the fish. Great wine list to and knowledgeable staff."

"Overall our experience was a good one. It was not extraordinary but just genuinely good.

We had the avocado soup which was tasty although the portion was so small that one wonders at how a restaurant can get away with 10 spoons of soup for the charge.

The sweetbreads were really well done...crispy and tasty.

The lamb shank entre was moist and tender...tasty as well. The steak was a bit chewy and not quite at the standard of the lamb shank.

The panna cotta desert was really delicious...creamy and melt in your mouth delicious.

The dining room is warm with the wood tones and well designed. If they had table cloths, they could have definitely notched up the dining experience.

The service was good though not overly friendly."

"Very good food, although not every dish is great. (e.g. the sardine appetizer fell a little flat). Good service, helpful without being unctuous. Although they ought to have noticed a violently spilled glass of wine, instead of leaving the 2 tables to mop it up."

"We were there for a special occasion, and as such, it was a bit of a disappointment. I had read that the flatbread was wonderful and since it was listed along with the pizzas, I thought it would be suitable for an entree. However, it was too salty for my taste, and was way too much for one person. Fortunately, my husband shared his braised pork shoulder with me, and it was delicious. The tempura green beans were excellent as well. Our friends enjoyed the beef cheeks also. The wine list, while extensive, was very much on the high side. The least expensive bottle was $45. There were a couple of problems with the service. I doubt if I'll go back."
