Diner Reviews
  • "We picked this restaurant as it was near our hotel, sight unseen. We were seated promptly, the service was fantastic (we had one picky eater), and the pasta outstanding. Would absolutely try again!"

  • "And my wife loved her prosciutto & Melon app, and the duck entree. My octopus appetizer was great- broiled and glazed w/ an interesting finish. The swordfish was a little bit of disappointment- pretty bland, although the sauce was excellent. I asked about their seafood source--North Carolina--and suggested they may want to get more robust fish from colder waters. Big points- although all the tables were full, & yet it was quiet. They put a lot of effort (and it looks like money) into sound dampening materials. You could have conversations with your dining partner without being disturbed or disturbing others."

  • "This is not fine dining but served our needs and service was quick"

  • "nice atmosphere and outdoor seating area, except for occasional loud ambulances driving by. most of the food was excellent including the rainbow trout special and the squid ink pasta, but the seven vegetable salad was underwhelming."

  • "great antipasto, delicious pasta. So nice to sit outside on a beautiful evening and enjoy delicious food."

  • "Excellent! Great service and wonderful ambiance. My mom and I had dinners here last Friday and were able to sit outside. We has pasta dishes which were homemade, from scratch."

  • "Reasonable prices and nice outdoor spot for a summer get together. The ambulances and traffic kind of dull the experience but its a great neighborhood spot."

  • "Had a long, leisurely lunch with old friends. Perfect spot, great food and unrushed service."

  • "Coco Pazzo Cafe always delivers - great food with warm service. The food is always very fresh and delicious...cannot recall ever having a disappointing meal here. If you are fortunate to be there in the summer time, sit near an open patio door or outside...there is a wonderful breeze coming off Lake Michigan that makes for a lovely dining experience (note: the indoor dining in the summertime can be uncomfortably warm). I have taken numerous visitors here and everyone loves it!"

  • "I ordered Linguini Vongole and it was the most delicious Vongole I've ever had....!! Highly recommend their Pasta menu."

  • "Great food and service - loved that the doors were open to give a patio feel!"

  • "This somewhat small restaurant has very good Italian food, it is generally easy to find seats, and prices are reasonable. During the summer there are outdoor seats - -perhaps not such a good idea because of the ambulances that go by every 30 minutes."

  • "Advertised as an italian restaurant. Service is good. The personnel were all mexican and latins. The food is more a fusion of italian with mexican flavors. It remainded me of the mexican restaurants, in Mexico, with "italian" food. I had the duck which was bland and half way cooked. It was just OK but the mustard salad does not go with it. However, it's a good place to sit 'al fresco' and enjoy watching people having a drink."

  • "We wanted a nice spot to enjoy a some great pasta and a bottle of wine without over spending. This completely surpassed our expectations!!"

  • "We had not been to this restaurant in a while. The food was ok, but the service was quite slow. With a location close to a lot of competition they are probably loosing customers a little. We were also jammed into a corner & felt really crowded."

  • "Very nice place and authentic. Problem was that the tomatoes for caprese salad were as hard as rocks with no flavor. They shouldn't have even served them. The duch was excellent though."

  • "Just across the street from the Hyatt. This Italian restaurant gets good reviews and they are not unreasonable. My pasta dinner of Pappardelle al Coniglio with Rabit Ragu was excellent. The pasta was al dente. There was ample meat in the ragu and the taste was excellent. Cant ask for more!"

  • "I took my mother here for lunch because I was confident in their service and food quality. We were seated for our reservation promptly, offered drinks shortly after that. The restaurant was abuzz with the lunch crowd but not so loud that we couldn't hear, which says a lot given that my mom is 83 and too much ambient noise is sometimes difficult. Every time I eat here I have difficulty deciding whether to have one of the daily specials or the classics from the menu because they all are tempting. My mother ordered two appetizers and I ordered a salad and a main. The waiter clarified which my mother would like first which is always so helpful. The waiter was attentive but not overly so. Dessert was delicious too! Love this place!"

  • "Good menu and fantastic chef specials. The wine, a white Sauvignon, was excellent. Our glasses were filled as needed without asking. We ordered bruschetta appetizer (4),,,, served promptly and delicious. I had the Blackened Sea Bass. It was prepared perfectly. My wife had the Lasagna from the regular menu. It was flavorful and well prepared. Our server was attentive but not overbearing. The wait staff cleared plates quickly and kept the table cleaned."

  • "Nice local Italian restrauant. Good service, good bread. I had an excellent beet, goat cheese salad to start and as a vegetarian I had the gnocchi which was excellent. My DH had a shrimp special he said it was good. I had the tiramisu for dessert which very good."

  • "Very very good food! Attentive service! Worth the price for sure."

  • "We are local residents of Streeterville, and normally Coco is good. However, the other night it was as if both the chef and the Sous chef took the night off and gave responsibility to a prep person. Bruschetta was terrible, our pasta was marginal. We will give it another chance, maybe, because we live here, but it won't be for awhile."

  • "Our meal was very disappointing. I ordered the special of the day-- Risotto...was terrible. Very dry and had no flavor"

  • "1st visit...not the last. enjoyed everything about it."

  • "We sat at the outdoor tables on a beautiful day. Had seven vegetable salad with added chicken breast, a panini, and rigatoni buttera. Everything was quite good, although next time I would suggest they go lighter on the sauce for the rigatoni....it was very rich and swimming in it....still delicious though. Server had a difficult time understanding the concept of adding a chicken breast to the seven vegetable salad, but once we straightened that out it was fine. We have been here many times and always enjoy it!"

  • "Great food, limited but adequate wine selection. The waiter had all the personality of an old shoe but certainly provided adequate service."

  • "Met a friend for a "catching up" dinner here and had a very relaxed 2-hour meal. Food was good, the space was quiet, and the service unobtrusive. A good spot to duck out of the noisy street for a while and have a good bite to eat. The menu is somewhat limited, but it's a cafe menu so not a problem. Cuts down on indecision! The bruschettas were unmemorable, but the pasta was good and the gelato was excellent."

  • "We are big fans of Coco Pazzo and the Coco Pazzo Cafe. We just returned to Chicago after an absence of a few months and we are happy to see that the Cafe is in top form! I had an absolutely delicious chip pea soup, followed by a very high quality pounded pork chop prepared milanese style. My wife had her favorite seven vegetable salad and a very fresh and delicious salmon. We shared a half order of pasta that was also quite good. Even the biscotti were special! Nice generously poured cocktails as well as an impressive selection of Italian wines!"

  • "Repeat diner, lunch and dinner, always enjoys the experience here! Warm weather brings special enjoyment to this venue! Wait staff are, however, a bit pushy - obvious they want to turn tables......."

  • "My Italian husband and I had a wonderful dinner here while vacationing in our favorite city. The service was top notch, like in Europe they gave us time to order, time to eat and did not rush the check over after we ate. The food was classic Italian, not over engineered like some places tend to be. The pasta was homemade, just like my mother in law makes. Quality wine list by the bottle or by the glass. If you are in Chicago you will not be disappointed if you dine at this place. Thumbs up Coco Pazzo! "

  • "Visiting Chicago so of we had our "mandatory" visit to one of our favorites, Coco Pazzo Cafe. The pasta dishes are wonderfully fresh and pasta is made in house. My wife had her usual spaghetti AOP - perfectly cooked al dente with the hot red pepper perched on top. This time I had the Rigatoni with sausage, peas and cream sauce. The sausage was sweet rather than spicy, so I incorporated small chunks of the red pepper from the spaghetti AOP (very hot - a little goes a long way). Overall very good but I think I preferred the Tagliatelle from our last visit. "

  • "We have always had well prepared delicious meals here, and now that we live within walking distance, have made it a regular weekly experience. The homemade pasta is a standout, and the nightly fish specials are fresh and lightly seasoned. The Tuscan soup is a great starter, as is the 7 vegetable salad. We have enjoyed every dinner selection we have ever had here, and think it stands above most Italian spots in the city."
