Diner Reviews
  • "I've been walking past this restaurant and finally stopped in for lunch. So glad I did! Delicious food and service. Liked it so much a few of us are going back after work this week!"

  • "Once again I took someone here for a quick business lunch and it did not disappoint. My company ordered the fish and chips and thought it was excellent. He also thought it was a generous portion! My favorite , the salmon sandwich, was excellent too!"

  • "Found this restaurant by accident and will return often. Good was terrific. Salad tasted like it had just been picked. I ordered the salmon sandwich without the bread and it was the perfect meal of salmon, salad tomatoes and avocado. We sat upstairs and could have a conversation without shouting and plenty of time to get to the theater Try the meatloaf as well. A home run around"

  • "I went here last week and had a great time with my colleagues and the food was good, a truly nice Irish resturant."

  • "but the bar was very crowded and loud so dining was not as fabulous as always. However, if you want a fun , sports bar with good food after work, here is a great place!"

  • "They have a great beer selection, prompt friendly service. The fish and chips were excellent"

  • "I almost don't want to tell the world about how wonderful this is and then I will never get a reservation! The food is just solid ,excellent food with a British twist. I know , they aren't known for great food but this place changes that myth! I took someone here for business and he had the Cockaleeke soup which was filled with huge pieces of chicken, carrots, etc. Obviously home made and delicious. He then ordered the Chicken Pot pie which he said was one of the best he has ever had! It has a kind of Puff pastry on top and topped off with Stilton cheese. I had my favorite, the Grilled Salmon sandwich. Loaded with avoacado, pesto and on a whole grain grilled bread that is fresh and delicious. !"

  • "This place is a real find... a gastro bar near midtown! The food is very, very good and very reasonable! The service is very helpful and delightful! It is a great place to go pre theater or just to have a good lunch!"

  • "Went for the fish and chips with mushy peas. Fish was overcooked, chips / french fries were underwhelming, and mushy peas were tasteless. The cask beer of the day was almost literally at room temp (the waiter did point out in advance that it would be, so fair warning) rather than at cellar temperature (as it should be). Service was prompt and good. Yes, I'm familiar with english pub fare, having growwn up there"

  • "Much better food than most NYC gastro bars and very reasonable prices... and it is not far from Broadway!"

  • "Surprising menu with a great range to situ different tastes in a group. Try the Cask Ale!"

  • "We were 45 minutes late for our reservation, called ahead and our table was held for us. Upon arrival we were asked if we had additional plans and we informed host we had 7pm theater tix. He assured us he would inform our server and we were taken care of immediately, Fish and chips and chicken pot pie were ordered and delivered to our table steaming hot within 10 minutes of ordering. Best chicken pot pie I've ever tasted! Great, friendly, happy atmosphere and employees made it feel that way. Highly recommend for a casual dinner."

  • "British Style Pub. Steak, Burger and Chips are good. The waitress was friendly. But we had to wait a little bit for food, beer, beverages and drinks. Recommendable is "Father Angus", a speciality of the house. I ordered a "Scottish egg", but I didn't get it. Anyway, nice dinner."

  • "My husband and I were pressed for time as he had to work in the evening. We told the hostess and server and we were accommodated with time to spare. Great and cheerful service not to mention to the pies! Thank you."

  • "This restaurant looks like one of the many NYC pubs but the food is really excellent and not "bar" food. They have sandwichs that are delicious and immaginative. They also have salads that are plentiful. The soup is very homemade and a must try. They serve tea with a teapot AND A TEACUP!! The prices are fair. this is a must try place!"

  • "I had fish and chips and it was excellent. Unfortunately, my fellow dinners had a ver salty beef pie. The wait staff recognized the pies were not being eaten and we advised they were way too salty, they remove them from the check and affected us a replacement. They staff was attentive and if the other items on the menu are as good as the fish and chips, it is worth a retry,"

  • "I was very impressed with the flavor of the dish that I ordered here. The ambiance and decor was beautiful but the flavor of the food served here was over the top! SO yummy! It was the best food we had all weekend. Bangers and Mash is now one of my favorite dishes!"

  • "Small space but good ambiance. Good selection and variety of menu items."

  • "More of a pub than fine dining, but the food was very tasty, the dining room area, a long flight of stairs above the bar, was very pleasant & the service was exceptional."

  • "Had a lovely holiday lunch. Friendly staff, good food, considerate of our time (off to a show). Upstairs dinning cozy and quiet. On my list to go again."

  • "Tried this place on a whim after walking by many times- while the English are not known for their food, the food here is very tasty and well-presented, at reasonable prices. Went with a party of 4- had an appetizer to share, 4 entrees, 4 alcoholic beverages for about $120. Our server, Allison, was great at the start, and it being later in the evening, perhaps her shift ended- we never saw her again- but we were left for a bit too long without someone coming over to the table. Overall good experience but would have rated it better had our service been more consistent."

  • "Like the English staples served up by this pub. High quality, good portions, great beers. We had an early dinner so we had a chance to talk before the crowd got going, which was great. Had the Roasted Bone Marrow for an app.....do die for and rare on any menu. Fish and Chips and Bangers and Mash were excellent."

  • "I needed to have a place where I could have a meeting, talk, eat, and hear. The two floor plan works here - there is the bar scene and there is upstairs dining, which is a lot less noisy. I really found the beers excellent (and they had good Bavarian beers on tap) and the food was good solid pub food (the British can excel at pot pies and fish and chips). The wait staff were assiduous without nagging, so that we could focus on our conversation. It was selected to be utilitarian, and was much more without being unreasonably priced."

  • "I had lunch and dinner at C & B a bunch of times and never been disappointed. The food is excellent and there's a lot of British beers available. Some of the top favorites are the fish & chips sliders, the burger, the mac and cheese is to die for, and the pot pie is delicious. The service is always super friendly and genuinely caring. Great spot if you need to grab a nice lunch/dinner in the separate dinning area up top or hang out at the bar if you want a more lively scene. Definitely recommend it."

  • "Good gastropub food, excellent British beer & ale selection. Big plus, they have cask ales, served the British way. Nice treat. Bacon and Pate' Sandwich was a perfect accompaniment."

  • "I am a Brit visiting NY for a couple of weeks and I stumbled upon this Gem of a Pub. Great Service (Very Friendly), wonderful pub food and cool beer list. I had the cask ale. It was a local one, I don't know what it was called but it was hand pumped and room temperature just like home, very tasty. I am glad that I stopped in here and I'll definitely be back again before I go home."

  • "The menu was authentic English pub with a few variations. And it was good. We had a reservation which was honored on time by a very attentive and pleasant hostess. The knowledgeable wait staff was excellent with just the right sense of humor. It was noisy, but one expects such a place to be noisy filled with people drinking beer (good selection) and having a good time on a Friday evening (when we visited). We would not recommend it for children."

  • "I came here for my birthday with 5 friends. They easily accommodated us upstairs and we received immediate and exceptional service. The atmosphere was pretty quiet as it was a weekday evening, but definitely a good vibe. I got the bangers and mash, buffalo wings and Pimms, which were excellent. I also took bites of the cheeseburger and the mac and cheese, also great. I will definitely be back to get some more of those wings and try some other dishes."

  • "The fact that they have a bar area downstairs and a dining area upstairs is brilliant. It makes the dining experience more pleasant, and the meal was fairly private. Very friendly server. Food was pretty good, my family was loving the chicken pot pie. I'd go back!"

  • "Overall we had a very enjoyable evening. Food and service were incredible. Very knowledgable & attentive wait staff. We were there on a Friday night during happy hour. Got a little noisy. Was a little disappointed in the beer list. Since it was an English Pub, was expecting different varieties than was offered."

  • "The bar is crowded with the after work crowd, but the dining room was only about half full at 6pm. The beer list was good and they had some fun British-themed drinks and some English classics. Everyone in our party of five was extremely happy with our entrees, which ranged from a pasta dish to fish and chips. The bacon-wrapped meatloaf got many compliments, and my English grandfather loved his fish and chips. The kitchen was extremely fast. Overall, it was a great meal with lots of authentic British choices at a really decent price for NYC. Entrees were in the $15-20 range. There were also enough vegetarian options to satisfy the 2 vegetarians in the group."

  • "British pubs are not typically "fit for foodies." These guys stand out, however. Their smoked trout dish, served cold and mixed with rice and its sauce was a delightful brunch item. Moscow mules in copper mugs! It's a perfect stop over between grand central and times sq, on the way to a broadway show, foe example."

  • "If your in the mood for a taste of London Pub food it is definitely worth checking this place out. The good news is that you will also find US beef burgers and not the usual horrible burgers you would find in London. But of course you are probably looking for some fish and chips."

  • "This place was perfect and the staff was wonderful. I highly recommend it."

  • "It's a British pub. If you like English beer, food and sport on telly, then you're in for a treat!"

  • "The title says it all. Service was very friendly but a little slow at lunch. Food was good, but nothing really WOW'd me. Some good beers. If you like english chocolates, they have all types of candy from England for sale behind the bar."

  • "If you are in the mood for a Pimms and your favorite pub food in London, stop by this great British pub in New York City. They are able to take it one step further than is done in London since they have access to US ground meat to make a good burger from. I always struggled to find a good burger in all my time in London. The ham and cheese will shock and American but make a Brit feel at home."
