  • "Parking was so tough. I cudnt find the parking.just going around and around for 3times ended up in going to public parking and I had to walk for 10 mins to get to restaurant."

  • "The Coach Insignia is a perfect special evening. The 72-story glass elevator has a spectacular view of the Detroit River and Canada. PAY attention as you rise above the towers around you, it looks like you are taking off into the sky. The food was amazing. The Gnocchi is GREAT for vegetarians - yum! My friend had the duck l'orange - Fantastic! The butternut squash soup was outstanding. We shared an almond cake for dessert, it's very rich, so two can share. Next came the check. No sticker shock here. A great meal for two (with two cocktails) for under $100! End your evening with a stroll around the full circle, Incredible view. the view has something to offer and after dinner it's lovely to walk the full circle of the building)"

  • "Great evening filled with breathtaking views, unique food and great service. A wonderful place to take a date. Appetizer, drinks and dinner for two will only run you about $150, which given the location and views is worth every penny especially when you consider the service and cuisine. Great romantic date spot or for a special evening with a loved one."

  • "The website mentions a dress code. It discusses your shirt and pants, describes itself as "Business Casual", but says nothing about your footwear. She saw my Nikes®, 'threw' the dress code 'in my face' and said that she "had to seat me in the lounge area". The lounge area had no view out of the windows to the view out of the 72nd floor that the restaurant was on. I'm sure it was a spectacular view, and part of the price, but as that was denied me I couldn't tell. I had the Duck A l'Orange. The Breast meat was perfectly done, but the leg was tough. The one bright spot? The waitress was very good at her job. Would I recommend this restaurant to anyone? NO! They failed two out three areas of customer service and one of reputation."

  • "There was a young blonde haired woman at the bottom of the elevator on the third floor, she was stuck up and seemed like she hated her job. I wish she would've been more polite and not so rude. Over all the experience was good and the service on the 73rd floor was great! :)"

  • "We had a terrible experience here . . . we were treated terribly and would like an opportunity to discuss this further and explain what took place. The character allowance unfortunately will not allow me to explain fully the reasons we were upset . . . but the punch line to this experience was that at the bottom of our receipt, in which the manager comped $163.00 he listed as the explanation for the credit as "BACON 4 MUSLIM" I never at any time indicated that the gentleman was a Muslim. Regardless of this I would like to explain all of the details leading up to this in order to warn others of the issues at this restaurant."

  • "I had been to this restaurant location about 20 years ago and on this trip I brought my girlfriend to see the view from the top. As always, I was impressed with the view and sadly disappointed with the food. This was my first time going since Coach Insignia have been the owners. We had two appetizers, one was the pork belly egg rolls and the duck consomme soup. The egg rolls were over cooked on the outside and were dry inside. It was supposed to be pork belly which should be moist and fatty. Not so. Better egg rolls at any Asian buffet. The duck consomme was weak at best. A bowl was brought with a tablespoon of finely diced vegetables. Then broth poured on top, with one small piece of tough duck meat. Dessert was good."

  • "we booked a package that included one night at the Marriott and credit money to the restaurant. It was for our anniversary celebration. The food was very good, but not the finest we had experienced. The view over Detroit River at night was amazing. The server was excellent with great demeanor. Nevertheless, you feel the place is a bit outdated and needs to be refreshed. The decor was bland."

  • "Nestled on the top floor of the RenCen in Detroit, the view is amazing from nearly every seat in the restaurant. The wait staff is top-notch, the food is excellent, and the atmosphere is perfect for a romantic night out, a group outing, or any special occasion. Not to mention the wine list is quite notable. Be sure to also try the Cucumber Vodka Lemonade. Do yourself a favor and make Coach Insignia a must visit next time you're in the city."

  • "We usually eat here two or three times a year, and we have never been disappointed with the food or service. Needless to say, the view from the top of the GM Building is spectacular. It takes a bit of a hike to located the elevator that will zip you up to the top, but the trip is will worth the effort."

  • "Off the bat: the view here is the best. Anyone who has ever stared up at the GM building in awe needs to come here at least once. The ambiance of the dining room is very nice. It was great to look out over the river, the city, and Canada. My wife and I had a very beautiful time on our four year anniversary, and everyone; the hostesses, the server, and the kitchen, knew why we were there. Our server, Jessica, was very helpful and nice. She helped us to decide every facet of our dining experience. The food was great. Not the best I've had from the epicurean group, but still very good. Caramel coffee creme brulee was the best I've ever had. Drinks were perfect. This restaurant is a must."

  • "Disappointing. Info about valet parking in email was completely wrong. We were late for our reservation due to construction (not at all mentioned in email). When we finally got there, we were told that valet could bring our car around as we left the restaurant to save time. Our waiter confirmed this as we sat down, reminding him that we needed to leave early for a show at Opera House. Not true, according to hostess as we left. It took over 30 minutes for valet to get our car. We ended up being late for our 8pm curtain at Opera House. Although we enjoyed our meal and waiter (Eric) was quite good, we were incredibly disappointed in all of the misinformation and being made late for our show. It may be a while before we go back."

  • "Not the best meal I have every had, but certainly above average. If I am simply looking to enjoy a tasty meal, I would pick a different restaurant, but this is not the reason to go. The ambiance, and scenery are unlike any other place in Detroit. I have been here several times now, and this was the most enjoyable due to the seat we had, which appeared to be right above the river. We we able to see both shorelines, and follow the water south. We had 8:00 reservations, which was perfect (in the summer) so that we could enjoy a little but of sunlight, the sun setting, and still have a drink at the bar afterwards to enjoy the night lights."

  • "Service was great, surf and turf was great, not happy with pork tenderloin entree... raspberry minty jell substance should be a garnish on the side not all over the pork, even then raspberry was nice addition but the mint ruined that."

  • "The main thing that Coach Insignia has going for it is the awesome views which are stunning at night. The food on the other hand was just so-so on the night that I went. My wife and I shared the fried lobster corn dog for an appetizer because that is what they are "known for". The lobster tasted fishy and the batter was not completely cooked on the inside. The mustard sauce was very good. My wife had the filet and sauteed mushrooms. The mushrooms overpowered the dish, but she said the filet was good. I had the filet and seared scallops. Again, the filet was very good, however the scallops were still ice cold and frozen in the middle. I felt that it was a overpriced for what we ate."

  • "Very nice place to have a quiet dinner, may that be with only 2 people or a group. Nice scenery all around from the high being on top of the GM building; Michigan and Canada. The menu is limited but the prices are good not to exclude the great service."

  • "I reserved a table for 9:00pm for our 7th anniversary. I purposely made the reservation later in the evening, knowing we would not be having a full dinner, rather dessert and drinks. As soon as I asked the waiter for the dessert menu, his demeanor completely changed. He was extremely rude and stand-offish to us. It was clear that we were a bother to him because of what we chose to order. It made me feel embarrassed and stupid for even making a reservation in the first place since we didn't plan to eat dinner. This experience ensures Coach Insignia will never again get our business. Had I known your restaurant would judge customers based on the size of one's order, I never would have booked an occasion here in the first place."

  • "I took my wife out for our anniversary and neither of us had been here before. I heard the food was great and you can't beat the view from 72 floors up. The food was excellent and our waiter, Eddie, was superb. Very knowledgeable about the food and especially the wine. He picked out a perfect wine for my wife and I enjoyed it as well. The ambiance is very nice and you could go with a group or just a couple and it would be fantastic. I highly recommend Coach Insignia, especially if you've never been there before."

  • "The view from our booth of the city, bridge and water was awesome! Eric our server was able to help us make great selections off a unique and some tradition dishes. The crab cakes had plenty of crab and the lobster corn dog (even though I never order coated fried food ) was unusual and delicious. The entrees came perfectly cooked and were just as good as the appetizers. We were offered a free dessert. The chocolate mousse cake was decorated with Happy Anniversary! We spent the rest of the evening checking out the different views. There were plenty of drink choices ranging from specialty martinis, wine list including many from Michigan wineries and an extensive beer selection."

  • "They made my Son's 20th Birthday very memorable. The wait staff were all very respectful and non-intrusive. The chef even wrote Happy Birthday in chocolate around his dessert. Fabulous views of the Detroit River and Canada from our table."

  • "I went to celebrate my wife's birthday and enjoyed every minute. This restaurant is very pricey but she loves this place, if I had it my way we would have went somewhere else but we enjoyed it.we will go again, on her dime."

  • "The view was awesome, the wine list was wonderful and our waiter even had his level 1 sommelier pin. The ambiance was excellent as well. There were some excellent parts of the food, such as the lobster corndogs with unique slaw and sauce, but the main courses were not quite up to the level I would have expected. The main courses were good, but not great and that was a bit disappointing."

  • "My wife and I were celebrating our 13 year wedding anniversary and it was our 1st time at Coach Insignia. We were dressed business casual with very nice tops and dress shorts. The hostess said we could not enter the restaurant so we had to eat at the bar. We were very disappointed since we were dressed appropriately. She said even though they were dress shorts it was not allowed even though we saw customer after customer with jeans being able to enter the dining area. The food was good but they should disclose on their website NO SHORTS since you can dress business casual wearing shorts! The last time I checked business casual does not include jeans! Our waitress was nice and the food was good but not the quality or experience we expected."

  • "I took my girlfriend here for our anniversary. It was the best choice. Fancy place, great service, good food, AMAZING wine selection and spectacular view. Bring your special one here and you'll be a duke! Just one word for the restaurant, enforce the dress code. It kind of contributes to the ambiance."

  • "We had an enjoyable dinner and view from the top of the Ren Cen. The restaurant was huge and multiple levels for adequate window seating. Our server was knowledgable and the wine list was extensive. Definitely would recommend the lobster corn dogs as an app- the rack of lamb & cioppino was delish! "
