Diner Reviews
  • "I had the Caesar salad / Petite Fillet / Bread pudding. The restaurant is beautiful, the view was beyond words. I found the elevator ride a little intimidating but the dessert was so worth it. "

  • "Just visited Coach Insignia again for DRW. It was a lovely experience as always. I usually get the filet, but this time I decided to try the ribs. Although the ribs were good, I will definitely go back to the filet next time."

  • "Detroit restaurant week brought my girlfriend and I back to Coach Insignia for a wonderful dinner. By far the standout course was the filet mignon, which was one of the most tender I've ever tasted. I don't know what they did to get it to come out that way, but it was amazing."

  • "Went for restaurant week. Not one disappointment in my group of 5."

  • "The view is spectacular, the food is amazing, and the service was great! Each course was perfectly timed and we never felt like we were waiting on the food or server. The view was beautiful."

  • "You will not find a restaurant in Detroit with a better view of the city. I had a petite filet, which came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. My spouse ordered scallops, one of Coach Insignia's restaurant week specials, but unfortunately they were unavailable (3 jumbo shrimp were offered as a replacement). We shared an appetizer (crab cakes, $16) that we really enjoyed. Our food was good, my steak was grilled to perfection. Coach has a nice selection of wine, cocktails and beers. The waitstaff was efficient and attentive, as one would expect when dining in a restaurant of Coach Insignia's caliber and price range."

  • "Was a fun night out but took 45 min to get a table, with reservations. We did not see anyone else waiting, they were sat right away. That was the only issue. Other than that great night out. Service was friendly. Food was excellent."

  • "We took a friend to celebrate the passing of her real estate exam. Our waiter did a great job not only in service but also in making it a special night for her. The view is unparalleled & just gorgeous at night."

  • "Over all the experience was very good. The service was impeccable, the views amazing and the ambience is a subtle perfection. Thnefoodmwas very good but not spectacular. Hint:make sure to reserve a table by on the perimeter next to the windows"

  • "The food was great, service was very very good with a very romantic atmosphere. My wife and I had a great time, especially my wife, she said "Everything was fantastic". That is very rare coming from her, usually she will have one or two things that she was not satisfied about. We will be back again for another night of great experience and will definitely recommend the restaurant to friends."

  • "As first time visitors to Coach Insignia it was most memorable for both my husband and myself. I made my reservation using Open Table. In my notes I mentioned it was my husbands birthday and I requested a table near the windows so we could enjoy the view. When we arrived our hostess wished my husband a happy birthday and they honored my request to sit by the window. It was very romantic and I was so pleased my notes were not only mentioned but honored. Thank you for a memorable evening, I would definitely return."

  • "I took my wife here for her 30th birthday, and it did not disappoint! The view was stunning, and being there at night just made the view even better. I ordered the roasted chicken with a sweet potatoe purée, and it was amazing! My wife had salmon with the lobster tail and it was equally impressive. We also had the much talked about lobster corn dogs, which did not disappoint! The only complaints I have were with the lobster mac&cheese au gratin. It was waaaay too salty and we couldn't eat it, though we tried lol!, and the desert I ordered wasn't great. I had the goat cheese cheesecake and it wasn't anything to write home about. Overall we really enjoyed ourselves, and my wife loved it, so I'm happy! Great Job Coach Insignia."

  • "Great special occasion restaurant in all aspects. Makes the occasion special."

  • "I felt the food was good. Not great but just good. I choose to add mushrooms to my steak. I picked the "land and sea" . Seems to be already way over priced. Then charges another 10$ for mushrooms. I had same steak at another resteraunt for like 12$. Think it tasted better. The view is great. Other than a view it's not all that."

  • "Coach Insignia (CI) provided a fantastic, one-of-a-kind dining experience for my fiancé and I on our anniversary. Since I am a Celiac and cannot have gluten or dairy, I was specifically concerned with being able to eat something other than steamed veggies and unseasoned grilled chicken...Thankfully, CI had a gluten free menu and easily accommodated my dairy free needs. CI not inexpensive, but well worth the experience. My fiancé and I can check this one off of the bucket list!"

  • "My husband and I went to the restaurant for our anniversary dinner error and Cynthia our server was amazing. She was proactive and second guessed some of our dining needs. The food delicious and the charcuterie plate very good. The view breathtakingly beautiful, great wine list overall I give it 5 stars"

  • "We brought our parents here to celebrate their 62nd Wedding Anniversary. Coach Insignia always delivers a memorable experience. The grand entrance in the glass elevator, the spectacular views of Detroit and the Windsor river front, the attentive service and the delicious food all contribute to a lovely dining experience. Our server, Jessica surprised our parents with an ice cream dessert with a candle...nice touch!"

  • "This was my first visit to Coach Insignia and it was the best dining experience I've ever had in Detroit. The staff, food, wine, and view were all absolutely amazing. The kitchen crew even took the time to write "Happy Birthday" with chocolate sauce (upon my request) for my friend on the desert that she ordered. The atmosphere and ambiance is very classy and sophisticated. The price is quite high, but I felt that the entire experience was worth my money and I will definitey go again. I would recommend this place for all occasions, but particularly for romantic dates or special events."

  • "Food and service were both outstanding. All of our diners thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Can't think of anything that I would add. We had guests from out of town and they were very impressed."

  • "I brought a couple friends to a special dinner but I was disappointed with service. They were not professional as looked last time I was there. They were in a rush to push us forward and get it done. They tried to take plates away while we still working. It was kind of embarrassing for a restaurant like that."

  • "We had a great time and the food was outstanding as usual!"

  • "Squash soup was room temperature, short ribs were dry, shrimp was undercooked, filet was non descript, and the ribeye was of the poorest cut- all gristle and fat (and yes, I know my way around a rib eye). On the plus side was the scenery, the service, the wine, and the mashed potatos. Really disappointed and won't go back."

  • "The atmosphere at Coach Insignia is amazing. Fantastic views of downtown Detroit and Windsor accompany your meal, enhancing the overall experience. The service delivered by their attentive wait staff is always top rate. While the food is good, there are still other competitors in the area who do a much better job. If the kitchen were on par with these restaurants, I would never want to dine anyplace else."

  • "Food is wonderful along with the service and atmosphere. I have celebrated may special occasions there and every time it has been a great experience. The lobster corn dog is the best a must have and there steaks cut like butter and are seasoned just right!"

  • "Outstanding! This was my second visit and it was just as amazing as the first. The view was amazing, the service was superb and the food was great!!! Eric our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and very attentive."

  • "I wanted to go to dinner at Coach Insignia for my husband's birthday because he has always wanted to eat here. The staff went above and beyond our expectations! We were seated by the window so we had a fantastic view of the river and the north side of Detroit. The food was awesome. We both ordered steaks and they were cooked to perfection. We also ordered the Greek side salad for two, which was just great! The service was spot on and the views can't be beat. If you are looking for a nice place to celebrate a special occasion in Detroit, this is the place to be."

  • "It was my first time at this restaurant and my expectations were high. However, I left slightly disappointed. I made a reservation one week in advance and mentioned in the form that it will be for our anniversary and requested a window table. I thought one week notice and special occasion would suffice to get it, but nope, instead we were kindly offered a booth and walked to...past two empty window seat tables. Other than that I liked the overall ambiance and the food was decent. The best thing about this place is the view, although I don't know what it takes to get a window table there."

  • "Did not respect time of reservation. Seated more than 30 min after scheduled time. After being seated at least 15 min before anybody came to table including busboy offering water and waiter looking to take drink orders. After that the food was very good"
