A word from Clydz
Clydz is a lively New Brunswick destination with a subterranean atmosphere, reminiscent of a 1920's speakeasy. The freshly rose-petaled entrance is a prelude to a truly unique dining experience. At Clydz, the fare is anything but ordinary. The menu is comprised of "exotic" Contemporary American Cuisine, showcasing items such as kangaroo, ostrich, wild boar and python. Traditional favorites such as filet Mignon, scallops and duck are well worth the visit.

The cuisine is not the only element that sets Clydz apart from the rest. The trendy bar, enhanced by fish tanks and fireplaces, offers an extensive and adventurous martini and cocktail selection. Clydz own “private label” vodka was introduced fall ’11 with great success.

When making a reservation please keep in mind, tables will only be held 15 minutes past the reservation time. Due to high volume during dinner, an $18 food minimum per person is required. Reservations for cocktails only are not accepted.

Diner Reviews
  • "We celebrated my daughter's 21st birthday at Clydz. Our dinner included courses of alligator, python, llama and kangaroo - all nicely plated and seasoned well. Gene, our server, was very knowledgeable and attentive. We were attending a show after dinner and he kept things moving so we could get out on time. We had a very nice time at Clydz and would return again."

  • "I haven't been here since before Christmas (a great time of year for dining on their wonderful game entrees), and I was glad to experience the same high quality dining experience that I remembered, but on a fine summer day. The duck confit devilled eggs were a delicious starter and the rabbit pasta, a special entrée, which was covered with a very nice medley of summer vegetables, was very special, indeed. Their choices of wines by the class have always made pairing with the courses an easy task. To me, their food is still 4+ stars."

  • "Seems as if the menu is getting smaller and not as many choices, still diverse which is great"

  • "Was my first time here. The food was great. We were going to the stress factory afterwards and let the waitress know. She made sure to check the time for us to make sure that we wouldn't be late for the show. Appreciate the great service and personal touch. Will go back again."

  • "We were extremely pleased with the food. We have been to the bar area many times, but this was the first time eating in the dining room. Food was fantastic! Our favorites were the scallops, crab cakes, and duck flatbread. Martini's are always a hit there as well. Looking forward to dining there again."

  • "I went to the restaurant part of Clydz with 4 friends. We were seated quickly, but it went down hill from there. The server or bartender lost our drink order and came to apologize but it still took forever after that to get our drinks. Seemed like we would wait forever for everything, the appetizers, the entree, the bill. The food was not great, small portions."

  • "My husband and I have dined at Clydz several times. Each time our expectations are exceeded - from knowledgeable and friendly servers to delicious food and the perfect ambiance - we just love it! And 25% off for Restaurant Week was an added bonus! thanks!"

  • "Martini's are a specialty here and they do not disappoint. The oysters were fantastic! In order of preference, even though I loved them all, Blue Point > Malpeque > Hog City > Hama Hama. We tried some unique dinners as well. I had the buffalo ribeye which was perfectly cooked to a medium. The meat was delicious as were the accompaniments, but as with most buffalo this was more on the fatty side for those who aren't familiar with the cut off meat. My date had the "game tasting plate" which was also fantastic! It featured antelope, bore and buffalo. The service was also magnificent. Perfectly timed, not over aggressive and pleasant. We will definitely return soon!! Overall A+"

  • "Clydz was a fantastic treat. First impressions are misleading. Clydz is a walk down restaurant ,when you walk in you go right into the bar and to the back is the walkup dining room. Our first thought was a 1920's speak easy type of place . Known for their vast selection of martini's and gourmet foods. Karina our server was well versed in the fare and was a great help in selecting our meals. Exotic choices on the menu included Llama and Kangaroo. The food and service was outstanding and attentive . Clydz is a must if you are in New Brunswick , NJ."

  • "We went to Clyde's during restaurant week, which made it a busy night, but a great night to splurge on dinner! at 25% off the total bill, Clyde's had a GREAT deal for restaurant week. So great that we plan to go back this week. The food is always amazing, the staff always gives great customer service, and we had an overall great night."

  • "This is the 2nd time we've gone to Clydz and loved it the same as before....the food is excellent and different, something sorely missing in South Jersey! The selection of game was incredible, but something for everyone. The service is wonderful and they pay attention if you are going to the theater to make sure you are out on time."

  • "Clydz was a true find--exotic cuisine (including uncommon meats such as kangaroo, alligator, etc.) exquisitely prepared. It was a slow night, but I believe that our waiter would have been equally attentive even if it was busy--he was excellent! One glitch (a mistake on the part of the waiter) was instantly acknowledged and compensated for by an offer of free dessert--made before we ordered dessert. Definitely will return."

  • "There are so many exotic dishes, in sense that finding python, rabbit, kangaroo on the menu is quite uncommon, that ti was a pleasant task to choose. Well prepared and well presented. A very pleasant dining room and knowledgeable, attentive, friendly service made our Saturday night dinner most enjoyable. They had a nice selection of wines, including by the glass, to complement the menu. Worth a try and I already have recommended it to friends."

  • "Just had a business meeting at Clydz and everyone was impressed including our foodie in the group. extremely interesting menu with lots of game items on it including some exotics. Duck confit deviled eggs were awesome as was the antelope burger, Great speakeasy like bar area with tons of special mixed drinks and quiet fine dining area behind it. Perfect atmosphere: not too stuffy or fancy but at the same time not casual. will go again"

  • "If you like to experiment with Martinis, this is your place! The drink menu is expansive and the food is excellent! Many exotic choices, including Kangaroo, Antelope, Wild Boar, Python sausage... We stayed more mainstream with the Strip Steak and Scallop dishes, and they were great! Excellent service! The servers cover for each other, so there is never a time that you need to wait for anything. Being so close to the State Theatre, they make a point to make sure that you get what you need when you need it! Highly recommended! We will definitely be back!"

  • "Recently, I took my girlfriend out for a special dinner and Clydz was recommended to me by a few friends. They have a unique selection of meat and an expansive cocktail list. We ordered Alligator in a Blanket and it was absolutely delicious and juicy. I was recommended the Italian Ice cocktail by my waiter, which turned out to be delicious. I ordered the Kangaroo Loin and my girlfriend ordered Filet Mignon. The food was absolutely delicious and filling. The Creme Brûlée was a fantastic desert and the Decadence desert cocktail was delicious and rich. It was a great meal at a great restaurant. "

  • "Very nice place for a special occasion. Eclectic menu. Such as kangaroo and bison. Very good no matter what you get. Will give your taste buds a joy ride. Drink menu very awesome too. Very tasty. The desert was amazing.... They even laid out rose pedals on our table and put a candle in my wife's creme brulé for her birthday. What a nice touch."

  • "When it comes to quality, this place does not mess around. The specialty drinks are mixed to perfection. You can certainly tell, the servers have good training as each drink is a work of art. Ladies, I would reccomend the drink called the "Holiday Inn." If you are looking to try something you've never had before, Clydz serve exotic meets prepared to perfection. If you are want unique food, quality drinks, excellent service or a good bar scene, you must go here!"

  • "I picked this spot for my boyfriend's 26th birthday. He loves trying new and exciting things and Clydz delivered this! We had snake, alligator, venison, boar, bone marrow, among other great exciting dishes. The bar beverage list was extensive and just as exciting. On my reservation I wrote that it was to celebrate a birthday and because of this they added rose petals to our table, put a candle on our dessert, and received the dessert for free! Had a great time, and definitely worth the money we spent."

  • "My fiance and I love to come here for birthdays and engagements. Great food, great service. Sometimes a loud party can be seated as they occasionally will host a big group. But for the most part when we come it is a great, quiet place to eat."

  • "This was the perfect spot for an upscale dinner, just blocks from the State Theatre. I had the rabbit over risotto and my hubby had the kangaroo (forgot what was with it). Both meals were very tasty and certainly plentiful. The wine list is extensive with bottles in every price range. This was our second time prior to a show and I'll think we'll do the same next time."

  • "We went on a very rainy evening before a show. Review: Caipirinha not authentic but ok. House Salad good-one of the best my spouse has had. Rabbit dish fair- cooked nicely but risotto with lots of onions. Lamb dish good. We did not have dessert. Staff was great and accommodating! Tables were low and I am short. "

  • "The food at Clydz is a bit on the pricy side for New Brunswick, but it is masterfully created and served. And if you've always wanted to try wild game, this is the place to check it out. Items like Alligator, Antelope, Bison and Rabbit adorn the menu. And there are other dishes for those not interested in trying wild game. Cocktail list is three pages long and the place is filled with college people at the bar. The restaurant is more sedate but the noise does tend to carry over from the bar. Not too bad that you can't have a conversation, but still louder than a quiet, intimate restaurant would warrant."

  • "Very good Dinner. We enjoy the variety of the menu. Tomato Bisque outstanding and the Kangoro Loin, cooked to perfection. We have eaten at Clydz for years and it always is consistant and first quality."

  • "I was on a date... The acoustics were horrible. I had to shout to my date. When the server came to wait on us, he was shouting the specials of the day to us. Romantic? Not. I could hardly swallow my food it was like being at chucky cheese with kids...only these were adults. Not a great fun night. ugh"
