Diner Reviews
  • "Arrived early and spent 30 pleasant minutes at the back bar (there are two) with a thoughtful bar tender and and interesting group of people. We were seated on time. The service was very good as was the food. "

  • "Our party had a wonderful Easter experience. Food was superb--we had devils eggs, stake, fish, chicken--and the cappuccino was perfect. Server was delightful and helped to guarantee that my meal did not have gluten containing items. Bus boy was also very helpful and was happy to take photos of us with our camera. As we dined, we enjoyed watching the giant bunny distribute chocolates."

  • "We had a lovely late lunch at Clydes on Easter Sunday. We took my son and his girlfriend. We all loved our food and it was not to loud so we could talk and hear each other. Our waitress was excellent"

  • "We have been to Clyde's several times. This is owned by the same proprietor of Old Ebitt Grill in Washington, DC. Both have excellent food and a unique atmosphere. I will return here again and again."

  • "It was Saturday 9pm,very busy, waiting very long for drinks, food was fine, all over it was ok but we expect little better for Georgetown."

  • "Loved our after church Easter brunch today. We both had Eggs Benedict, mine with crab cakes and my husband's with smoked salmon. The atmosphere was festive and relaxed. I loved getting my picture taken with the Easter Bunny. I am a kid at heart. We had good service and a comfortable booth in the Omelet room which I highly recommend. One of the best things about living in Georgetown is living so close to Clyde's. The staff is so nice and accommodating. Clyde's is a Georgetown treasure."

  • "Clyde's is usually a fun place to go and the berger's are quite good. I had the fish special which was burned over under cooked leaks which were tasteless. I will stick with a burger next time. The waiter was basically non existent we we're never asked if we wanted a desert and had to ask another waiter to get our bill."

  • "Great brunch at Clyde's on Saturday, they were busy but we had a great little table and enjoyed lunch. The food is consistent and there's something for everyone. It's a great place to bring guests from out of town or picky eaters."

  • "The food and service were both great. We were seated at the last available table, to much traffic and noise but we did walk in last minute so it worked for us and Clyde's."

  • "I have been coming here for years and years when I am in town. I am never disappointed. It is always a "buzzing" casual hot spot in Georgetown. Fun pub-like atmosphere. SUPER friendly staff. You have to have the crab cakes! All crab meat!"

  • "We had late reservations on a Friday so we arrived early to hang at the bar--we didn't mind the wait in such a nice atmosphere, but Clyde's got our table ready early after all--and we were a party of 7..."

  • "The food and the ambience at Clyde's were outstanding but it was our server, Layla, who elevated the evening to extraordinary. Clyde's also gives you great value. Enjoyed the evening so much we tried the Old Ebbit Grille the following night."

  • "Just what I was hoping for. Not pretentious but classy. So good in that American way. Name a cocktail : they've heard of it. Good food on the menu. Linger over coffee and a couple of drinks. Relaxing and delicious ."

  • "The food is fantastic! I would never normally order meatloaf at a restaurant but it was amazing and full of flavor."

  • "We celebrated the birthday of a friend from out of town with dinner at Clyde's. The food was great, and the service was extraordinary. Our friend had special dietary needs, and our server, was more than helpful, even though the restaurant was very busy on a Thursday night. She was cheerful, exceptionally efficient, and met our friend's every need. We all had a wonderful time. Our friend said that his birthday dinner at Clyde's was one of the best dining experiences he had ever had. We were delighted."

  • "Had brunch on Sunday and asked for a window table. Hostess had read the request in advance and apologized that no windows were available, but offered a great booth in the busy front bar area. Portion sizes perfect with small side salads offered with many entrees. Hadn't been to this Clyde's in years but it is still excellent after all these years!"

  • "I asked that the kids meals and apps be brought out at the same time and our waitress seemed to forget our table altogether. The dinner came out 1 hr after ordering it and with our apps and kids meals. I did complain but the waitress said the kitchen was busy and left it at that. However we were disappointed since we chose an early dinner time 6pm in a Saturday with 2 kids in tow."

  • "It's one of those places you could just walk past, but if you see it tucked between the other restaurants, you definitely should go in. The atmosphere is rather subdued, and the food is delicious. Great service, very prompt, and they even offered to adjust the thermostat for us. There are multiple rooms ranging from a fancier setting to the bar. We really loved this place as tourists in D.C., and it wasn't any more expensive than an Applebee's."

  • "Our party of eight including three children loved the food and the service. Our waitress was excellent. We would highly recommend Clyde's and look forward to returning ourselves."

  • "We were recommended this place for brunch and made sure we went! We went early on a Sunday morning so it wasn't too busy yet - assuming because of Church and spring breaks - but we had the waffle and french toast and both were very delicious! Definitely recommend. Loved the ambiance. Has that old town feel inside with the decorations. Also, looks like it could be a fun bar scene later at night."

  • "We have been many times to Clyde's and it is always comfortable and pleasant, especially in the Omelette Room. We went early so there were some families with children there. It was nice to see that. We told the waitperson we wanted to linger a bit. No problem, she checked on us periodically. The rockfish special with fennel was very good."

  • "Dined here for about the 4th time while in at a local conference. Was as usual, not dissapointed. They were happy to accomodate tweeks to the dishes and all was served fresh and hot. Really cold outside and nice to see some good comfort foods on the menu like meatloaf. Service was attentive but not over the top. Table was reserved and waiting to our specification. Really there are three ambiances here depending on where you sit. Front room off entry a little mor bar-like cozy, but not crowded. Parallel room a little more restaurant-like with nice view of the street. Back room quiet and spacious like a outdoor patio but warm and casual. Fun place, good food, reasonably priced."

  • "I had the shrimp salad and it was fantastic. I would go back just for that. Interestingly, I attend a meeting at the Clyde's in Tysons every month and the food is not as good. We always seem to have three pastas and I don't eat pasta. I sure with they'd have the shrimp salad!"

  • "My brother and his children came for a visit to the District. I chose Clyde's in Georgetown for us to have dinner because of its location, iconic status, and reliable menu. The tavern is reminiscent of old school times, yet it also possesses some modern vibe. Service is reliable and friendly at Clyde's. Your meal will always be respectable and tasty. My brother enjoyed a really nice plate of salmon. My nephew had pasta Bolognese which was pleasing to him, but I would not recommend it. My niece enjoyed a tasty grilled chicken breast sandwich and I dined on a trusty French Dip sandwich. The French Dip sandwich is delicious and the French Fries are yummy too; would really love a small dish of cole slaw to round out the plate."

  • "My wife and I had a very nice dinner this past weekend. The waitress was particularly friendly, and the whole meal was very enjoyable. While my wife enjoyed the crab cakes very much, she loved the brussels sprouts and root vegetables the crabcakes were sitting on. I'm a sucker for fish and chips and am often disappointed. I will say this was one of the best fish and chips ive ever had. The fish was perfectly cooked with a great coating and the tartar sauce was delicious. My wife also had a delicious arugula salad before dinner. The bread was served warm with a great little crust. Again, the waitress was fantastic and the people running the food did a great job as well. This restaurant is run very well."

  • "Not being too familiar with eateries in Georgetown we were pleasantly impressed with food, service and ambiance on our first visit, so we returned to treat our college son to a birthday lunch."

  • "Great service, great ambiance. They treated my 4-year old cousin like a princess, complete with her own birthday sundae. After a long and cold day at the zoological park with 4 energetic kids, we needed to get food into them and drinks into the adults. Clyde's was able to accommodate us earlier than we had planned and everything was excellent. Our waiter was superb."

  • "Atmosphere was unique but bland. Food wasn't the best but perhaps I chose a mediocre dish. Our server was polite & personable and the wine was tasty which made for an overall decent experience. In the future, I will probably prefer to pay a little extra for better food at Unum, Nick's, Sequioas, etc."

  • "An interesting restaurant serving a range of clientele. I was visiting Washington for the first time and took my time to have a range of well cooked dishes from across the menu. Others popped in for a single course; yet more were in large groups of a wide range of ages. All seemed to have en enjoyable experience."
