Diner Reviews
  • "Great service, great food, great atmosphere, no delay in service even when the restaurant is super busy. "

  • "We went for dinner on Friday night. It was a clearly busy but we didn't have to wait for a seat. Compared to the Clyde's in Georgetown, this one was incredibly spacious. The booths were big and each table a lot of space between one another, making it easy to hear everyone at the table even thought the place was pretty loud. The food was awesome. Everyone at the table was extremely impressed by their dish. I'm personally gluten free and they didn't have too many options for me. I did have the chicken breast though and it was delicious. The service was as expected and up to par. "

  • "Unlike the other Clydes I have visited in Tysons, Reston, Rockville. This was a step down. Extremely loud. I tried to have a business dinner discussion but the noise from kids and large groups was overwhelming. Should have left but it was raining. Never again at Clydes in DC."

  • "We had a great time at Clyde's. You might think that at such a large restaurant, the food would be mediocre would taste like it was mass produced. Especially on Cherry Blossom weekend. Not so. Everyone's food was excellent. Will was a great waiter. I would go back any time."

  • "We have eaten many times at Clydes. We always find the food delicious, well prepared, and interesting new items appear on the menu from month to month. However the service is somewhat spotty depending on what server is assigned to the table. On this occasion the food started coming before the drinks and we had to ask a separate server for help as our waitress seemed to have disappeared. Other than that, the meal was excellent and the availability of Paella on the dinner menu was too good to resist. This is a five-star meal."

  • "Clydes can be about anything you want. Sit near the bar for a more lively experience, in an upstairs booth for privacy, in a center table for office groups. Food is reliable very good - great variety of offerings."

  • "My dining experience was very good. The only disappointing moment was I wanted the Roasted Turkey Sandwich which was on the menu and the waitress told me that it was not available. It would have been good to know that prior to me looking over the selections. However, the waitress suggested the salmon burger and it was delicious. So I was content. She also make an excellent recommendation regarding the desert. The toasted pound cake was awesome!"

  • "Highly recommend the BBQ brisket. Very tender with slaw and beans as great complements. Filling, but not overly so. You don't need an appetizer."

  • "Cylde's was recommended by the staff of our hotel and we were not disappointed. We had an enjoyable casual meal, just what we were looking for. Bonus round was an OK $ 15.00 a bottle wine special ."

  • "Always a solid meal, usually good service. Can't get enough of that Maryland Crab Soup."

  • "Menu gets stale after several visits. You need to vary it more."

  • "Great food with variety. Very close to Verizon Center."

  • "My family and I had a nice experience at Clyde's, but I was a little disappointed. Many people have talked about how much they enjoyed Clyde's, but I left the restaurant unsure of what all the fuss is about. It's not that it is a bad restaurant at all, it's just that I have been to less noisy restaurants with better food and better service. You can't go wrong though if you've just finished a movie and don't want to travel very far for a meal."

  • "very reasonable price, great ambiance, and loved the fact that they have 1/2 bottles on the menu, what a great idea! will definitely come back."

  • "Clyde's has great ambiance, good service and a solid menu. You can go dressed up or come casual. The atmosphere is remarkable, dark wood, paintings, good lighting (not too dark or light). You can spend a good bit here, or go for something more affordable. They do have a kids menu, though we were the only ones there with children. A great spot...we will come again."

  • "I like the Clyde's group restaurants in other places. It's a reliable, varied menu to have when at Verizon or museums."

  • "The food is always good and the service is prompt.."

  • "We went to Clyde's after running the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler. A tradition that we normally go there when we are in DC. Excellent food as always. The service was a little under par this visit but still a great restaurant and great food!"

  • "What I appreciate most here, beside consistently well prepared meals, is that when I ask to share a dish because my elderly parent can't finish an entire dish, Clyde's will serve that dish already split on two plates. If you dine upstairs, it is very easy it enter the Verizon Center via a long corridor and an escalator. Perfect for inclement weather and perfectly convenient. We will return here not before Verizon events, but whenever we want a good meal in a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere."

  • "We made a reservation for after a basketball game, knowing it would be crowded. When we got there we were seated in the bar. Just not what you expect when you make a reservation. Needless to say, the food was good but I couldn't have a conversation with my husband because it was too loud."

  • "Fantastic as usual.......great food, excellent service!"

  • "We often dine at Clyde's before a game at the Verizon Center. Some servers ask if you're going to the event in order to have your bill ready in time. After we finished eating, for some 5-10 minutes we couldn't find our server and the other servers weren't helpful taking a "It's not my table" attitude. Just made it to the start of the game. Beware..."

  • "Getting a reservation at Clyde's before a Caps or Wizards game is the best way to avoid paying arena concession prices. Great beer list, cocktails and solid, solid, solid service and food. Is this high-end, food alchemical heaven? No, but when you want to get together with friends in a place that can feed a broad range of palates and consistently deliver high quality (based on 20 years of experience periodically dining with this restaurant group in various locations) -- Clyde's is your choice. (Note the noise level rating is for the dining area upstairs, not the bar, which is obviously louder and hopping before the game.)"

  • "After going to the National Portrait Gallery to see the American Cool exhibit on a snowy (Spring) Sunday, Clyde's Gallery Place was the perfect spot. We had a great table upstairs by the windows so we could watch people scurrying in the sudden snow shower. The food of great American fare was perfect. Service was great without being intrusive to our lively conversation. Perfect refuge. Multiple bars were busy and fun. Great experience."

  • "The brunch menu was just fair, not many items to chose from. They should try to expand the menu. I know they are mainly a dinner, lunch crowd, but if they want to draw people in before early games at Verizon they should definitely expand the menu. Also the Bloody Mary's were just fair!"

  • "A group of friends and myself went here to celebrate my birthday. The waitstaff was extremely helpful and the food was delicious, however, the noise level got to be a bit extreme at times making it difficult to hear each other speak. They do have a great wine list and cocktail specials, they also sang to me for my birthday."

  • "What's not to like? Great ambience and always longstanding, expert and professional service with wonderful food in the mid-range. A beautiful setting in a great building with really wonderful art work and decor."

  • "Have been here before and it was just as great as last time."
    Dined on 3/25/2014
  • "The food was good, but expensive and service was just okay. We were served quickly enough, but waiter refilled water glasses upon request--when we flagged him. He refilled wine and beer orders a bit faster. Friendly atmosphere, good location-- Reservation was available at requested time, but it's Important to make that reservation--very crowded."

  • "We've been to this Clyde's many times and have always been impressed with the ambiance, professionalism, quality and value. Staff and menus change, but the emphasis on giving the diner a great experience is constant. At this lunch, we had the salmon, fish and chips, roast turkey sandwich, and steak salad - and everyone was thrilled with their choice."

  • "Everything was excellent! I made an 8:15 pm reservation and was seated immediately. The food was hot & delicious. I will definitely be returning soon."

  • "Order the one crab cake dinner entree. You don't feel stuffed and it's delicious."

  • "Very noisy so it is hard to talk is considered energetic. What kind of survey is that?"
    Dined on 3/27/2014
  • "Food is always very good, consistent. The tall black guy at host stand downstairs was SUPER, the younger girl and middle aged guy upstairs not as nice, but maybe they were just busy (even tho we were there before the rush at 11:30)"
    Dined on 3/26/2014
  • "Had the vegetable lasagna and was pleasantly surprised. The right size, not overwhelming. Flavorful. Not your soft and gooey lasagna."
    Dined on 3/26/2014
  • "Service wasn't very good as we had to send a few incorrect items back and everything (drink orders, entree orders, check, etc.) just took longer than it should. Our dishes were "just ok" at best...appetizers were solid, but anything beyond a burger as an entree seems to be a risk."
    Dined on 3/25/2014
  • "Our group of five(3 adults, two kids) made a reservation prior to the evening show of Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus at Verizon Center. Although there are many eateries nearby, Clyde's is by far the most versatile, professional, and friendly. Beautifully decorated, varied menu, good wines, and superior service. A great, quiet, pleasant restaurant before or after any special occasion at Verizon Center. Wait staff, when informed of our timeline, had us on our way with ten minutes' grace--outstanding!"
    Dined on 3/23/2014
  • "Our waitress was more interested in chatting with another waitress than taking care of us. As a result, my otherwise very good food was almost cold. Will likely never go there again, although we have consistently good experience at Clyde's in Chevy Chase."
    Dined on 3/23/2014
  • "Clyde's in Gallery Place is the perfect spot for a business or working lunch if you're in that area. The food is reliable, the tables are spaced far apart and the service is great. I've also had a really good time at the bar after a concert at the Verizon Center."
