Clyde's of ColumbiaFirst time since the remodelMy sister and I went here for the first time since the remodel. The new items on the menu are what made me wanna give Clyde's another try. I got the special, I think it was the Alaskan Halibut. It was delicious! We also ordered crab dip and wings which were also tasty. The dessert (the blondie sundae) is something that I have been craving to eat again the second it was gone. We didn't leave a crumb soo good! Our server was excellent, very friendly and attentive.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMNoisyVery difficult to carry on a conversation
Need some sound absorbing areas5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMNot the old Clyde'sWe were really looking forward to the "new" Clyde's and were very disappointed. While the food that we had was good, we noticed that several of our favorites were no longer on the menu. As we spoke to our waiter about the paella no longer being on the menu, he told us the table next to us had just asked about the same thing. We also missed the mussels from the old menu.
There were several changes that we noticed that we were not happy about: 1) the delicious bread they used to serve was replaced by rather ordinary bread, 2) portions seemed smaller, 3) prices seemed higher, & 4) several favorite items had been removed from both the food and drinks menu. We are hoping to see some of these items return to the menu.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat dining experience butI wrote but because the dining experience has moved from a bit formal to casual which is a shame.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat placeWe love Clyde's! Food is delicious, waiters are always wonderful, no complaints.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMothers Day BrunchFirst time back since renovations. Good service, good food, a bit noisy with lots of children.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOldie but GoodieI have been going to Clyde's Restaurant in Columbia since my youth. They have just remodeled and it's lovely!! Beautiful. I went on Mother's Day for Sunday brunch. I ordered the "Bennie Florentine", eggs benedict with spinach~ heaven. It was fresh- simply spectacular!! My husband ordered the Chesapeake version, eggs benedict with crab cakes- another awesome choice. What a fabulous experience. We've decided to make it a tradition from this point on....Mother's Day at Clyde's in Columbia. I had also requested in the * special note* portion on Open Table for a table by the window. We were even 15 mins late for our reservation due to a minor home emergency and we still got our table by the window.
Highly recommend!!!!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's dayit took almost an hour for our food to arrive. I was also disappointed that the server didn't come say anything about the long wait until almost 45 minutes after placing our order, when I had to ask for bread because we'd just been sitting there with drinks. If he had come to say something, with a place of bread in hand, that would have been a bit better.
Every dessert has cream and gluten in it. People now deal with food allergies and dietary restrictions. Have a dairy free or vegan option, and maybe a gluten free option.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMreviewthe service was very good. he was a very friendly person. The restaurant is very good and i would recommend it to everyone.
by using the opentable we were seated very quickly even though it was not crowded.
this is the first time i used this opentable and i think it is a good idea5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFront of Clyde's not yet done......on the other hand, the inside is a huge improvement. Very nice job! I look forward to coming back when the "front" is done and the new chairs have arrived.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMClydes is still ClydesFirst time to the new version of Clydes and was impressed. Was also impressed cuz it's still Clydes and I've enjoyed going there over the last 35 years off and on.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food service a little slow...When we were seated at our table we were not approached (even by a buss person with water) for a good 5 minutes. The waiter was friendly and answered all our questions but the time dragged between ordering drinks, receiving them, ordering food, and receiving it, etc. The food was very good! My cousin and dining partner was shocked that there was no white zinfandel on the bar menu; or any sweeter wine like rose or Riesling. After much discussion the waiter finally pulled a glass of white zin out of his sleeve... I have been to Clyde's 3 times and every time the service has been quite slow.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Success With The RenovationWe were impressed with the recent renovation - kudos!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMStill Love their Spanish Coffees! This was our first visit since they remodeled. I wish we hadn't hit them on prom night because I would have really liked to try out one of the new booths. As it was we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated for our 6 p.m. reservation. Their Tito's cosmo was delicious and my husband was able to find some drafts he liked thanks to the addition of craft beers over the past few years but he still prefers Victoria Gastro Pub for the beer selection, while I prefer Clyde's for their food selection. We both got the delicious Alaskan halibut and I had to top off my meal with Clyde's fantastic signature Spanish Coffee - the main thing I'll miss when we move next year. :-)4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe initially were placed byWe initially were placed by the bar. It was terribly noisy, and we couldn't talk. We asked to be moved and were placed near the library which was so much better. Thank you.,4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the new renovations withLove the new renovations with expanded seating. Booths giving window views nice improvement. No problems with our reservations and we were seated right on time. Food still terrific with great service.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMColumbia Clyde's is BackWaitperson was very nice & tried to be attentive, but was first Friday since reopening. Very busy. Food great!
