A word from Club Lucky
Club Lucky features the hearty pastas, fresh seafood and classic dishes of Southern Italy, and Sicily; not to mention Chicago classics such as Chicken Vesuvio. House specialties range from daily hand-made stuffed pastas to perfectly grilled steaks & chops. A mainstay in the Bucktown/Wicker Park area for over 23 years, upon entering you find brick walls, formica tables, and oversized Naugahyde booths that provide a genuine design element to complement “grandmother's recipes” on the Italian menu. All sauces & pastas are made on-site, and each recipe is made with what the Owners call “a little bit of love.” Some of the most sought-after dishes are the Lamb Chops, Antipasti Platters and Spinach Lasagna. Desserts are all housemade as well, with the profiteroles being the most popular. Minutes from downtown hotels, theaters, and the United Center. Hotel Concierge and/or their guests enjoy VIP reservations. Our atmosphere is casual, the portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "it was excellent! Always enjoying talking with Thomas. Service was great at the bar! Food delicious."

  • "Ordered the Famous Fried Calamari with spicy sauce. Very bland calamari and the sauce was not spicy. Afraid to order anything after that. We got our check and left."

  • "Get something with the vodka sauce! They also have a great martini list."

  • "The food and the service at Club Lucky were as good as I've had anywhere. Strangely, the physical space itself is an embarrassment. Some awful mix of 50s diner motif and corner dump bar and somehow also white table cloth? Renovate this place and it's on Eater 38."

  • "We were not familiar with the area so we turned to trip advisor for recommendations. Club Lucky was lucky for us The food was wonderful and the service was outstanding. We were going to a local theater after dinner and did not know if the theater had a bar. We asked our waiter if he was familiar with the theater and he actually called the theater to find the answers to our questions. It was so nice to enjoy food in a neighborhood restaurant and not a chain. Outstanding service and outstanding food."

  • "Smack in the middle of a hip Bucktown neighborhood sits this retro gem! Awesome food, generous portions, broad wine list, spectacular cocktails, 50s decor, great music. Inside seating is fun....outside seating is ample too! Go here....often!!"

  • "Excellent food---especially the gluten free pasta that can be ordered with many of the sauces. Our party of four all enjoyed their dinner and the other couple who joined us loved the Italian food. This may become our new "let's go out to eat" place."

  • "I went to this resturant on Mothers Day and the food was outstanding. However when I went back for my daughter's graduation dinner on 5-30-14 the food was bland and cold. I was very disappointed because of my first experience there was so outstanding. Not sure if I will go back. "

  • "Apparently we arrived when a family/group of 50 was leaving. The valet was working hard to get that family out, so we had to wait a while. We should have eaten outside because the restaurant was totally loud. We could hardly hear our friends. The waiter must have been new, or a fill-in for the evening because he just wasn't attentive."

  • "Food was great! My date and I are on a vegetarian diet, so we had the veggie antipasto and the eggplant parmigiana, which were both excellent. we both loved the warm bread served with the meal, as well as the flavored olive oil (light but spicy). Only complaint was the very dim lighting, since we chose to eat inside. "

  • "We always love going to Club Lucky because the ambiance is so cheerful, from the retro bar to the ebullience of the staff and customers. The food is reliably good with the baked clams being the best in Chicago. "

  • "Food was very good, and the service was quick and efficient considering that the restaurant was full. Noise level was high and made conversation difficult. I had been here before for lunch and was seated in the bar area where there is old-school music playing. Our most recent visit was in the dining room with 100 or so other customers."

  • "We have never had a bad meal here. I LOVE this place, both for just the two of us and with our kids. It shifts perfectly for who we are bringing. Anything off the menu is going to please...if you don't fill up on their GENEROUS fresh baked bread and garlic oil. The only thing I can say is that it is definitely noisy in there... so if you are looking for a whisper environment - this isn't it. Doesn't bother us - we can talk dirty and no one can hear. Ha. "

  • "Great find for traditional Italian. Place has a vintage fun vibe. Great cocktails and fast tasty food was served by friendly young staff. We loved the open loud atmosphere. Outside in warmer weather will be great. I can't wait to visit friends again in Wicker/Bucktown "

  • "I brought my parents here for dinner on a Saturday - for it being very busy, the service was great and we were seated promptly at our reservation time. I was disappointed by my meal, I had their special tortellini which was very over-cooked and falling apart. My parents dishes were amazing though - the fettuccine was delicious, perfectly cooked and the sauce was not overwhelming. Be prepared for big portions! The bar would be fun to sit at as well as outside. Although my meal wasn't fantastic, I would still go back to try it again."

  • "We loved the atmosphere at this neighborhood restaurant. We were greeted warmly when we arrived. It's a nice family place with a bar in front for those just wanting a drink. Food was delicious as well."

  • "Club Lucky is one of those places you go to simply because it's there. tucked away on a residential street corner, it's probably grandfathered from a time when zoning laws were less strict or nonexistent. The place is surprisingly big and you feel like you've gone through a time warp when you enter. The food is average, at least if my experience is common for the place. Average isn't bad, though. It just means I wouldn't be going back there for a special dish. However, I would go again to enjoy the ambience, without major expectations for the food itself."
    Dined on 3/20/2014
  • "Still a consistent classic. Great drinks and fun vibe in the bar...martini's... Very comfortable dining room, knowledgable and attentive staff without hovering and the food is great. Large portions so split something with your date and make her feel like you really are committed to that diet. Ceasar salad comes a with a bit too much dressing so take a page out of Grandma's book and ask for light dressing or on the side. Chicken Vesuvio always a good one as are the pasta dishes. Will be back soon!"

  • "I've been going to Club Lucky for years. Their food is great every time, the drinks are good and strong, the music is 50's-era filled as is the décor - so it' just a charming throw-back and comfy place to be. Went there this time on a busy Sat for my anniversary, made the reservation through Open Table and requested a specific booth as it was where we sat on our first date. Wasn't expecting them to be able to reserve it for me because they are always so packed and the booths are always full but they did! So, so sweet of them. Must eat when you're there: the grilled calamari appetizer, a side of beef meatballs with dinner and the profiteroles for dessert!"

  • "Coming from a very strong Italian family, I am a bit of an Italian food snob. Club Lucky is my exception. The food is UNBELIEVABLE! The managers are always so friendly and the restaurant is always so clean and kept up. Such a great place for a date, family get together or just a plate of awesome Italian food."

  • "We love this place! Everything that we tried was fantastic-appetizers, pastas, chicken, the wine.... The ONLY thing we recommend is that a lighting expert help them achieve their vision, without a negative impact on customers. It is very, very dark! Our waiter agreed, and said that the owners will not change, even with a lot of constructive feedback. It's not terrible, but you really can't see the menu. Bring a flashlight? The food is worth it!"

  • "It's been a couple of years since the last time I went to Club Lucky, and the good news is, nothing has changed. The host greeted and seated us promptly. Bread arrived almost immediately and was hot and delicious. They have no issues modifying a dish to any request. We love this place and will be back soon."

  • "The eggplant parm was one of the best dishes I have ever had! Delicate layers of lightly breaded eggplant topped with the tastiest red sauce. It was amazing."

  • "Feels like a great neighborhood casual joint but food is upscale. All the food is fresh made and just that step up. Started with my dirty martini. Nice mix and olive juice not overpowering but the blue cheese olives nice and firm and not overbearing. My friend had the cavatelle and meatballs and she said it rivaled her Italian aunt's meatballs. I had the antipasta plate fresh cheeses and meats with selections of olives and roasted peppers and oinions. So much couldn't finish it all. We split the profiteroles yum homemade ice cream and fresh made puff pastry asked for Carmel sauce instead of chocolate and was a dark rich Carmel homemade. YUM!."
