CliffhouseGreat placeBeen a while since I was there, ten + years. Took the wife for a romantic night out, this place does it. THe food was freat, I had the ribeye, perfect. She had the crab stuffed shrimp, again perfect. THey cater to your choices, don't like the veggie associacted to your meal, no problem, change it. Found out if you want to bring your own wine there is a $15 cork fee, reasonable to me. THeir wine list is good as well. Go there you'll like it.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFor a Nice Night outThe Cliffhouse is recently redone and is upscale comfortable. If noise is your problem, sit either outside or in the main dining room. The food here is very good - wide variety with an emphasis on seafood - all well prepared and presented. Notable items are the catfish (Yes, catfish, it is excellent) and the crab stuffed shrimp. Service is good, but it can be a little slow - they use a tiered service approach - waiter/waitress, server, busboy - so it is usually quite efficient. Every Wednesday is 1/2 priced wine night - a very nice deal. The bar is very active and has a separate menu with nice choices - usually there are Happy Hour specials, so check if you are just going for a couple of drinks and some light food.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinning experienceThe artichokes were baked perfectly (tender) this time. Last time they were bad (not tender) and you sent me a gift card, thank you for standing behind your product.
Lamb chops were excellent cooked perfectly. Filet was wonderful, tender great taste. Drinks and win was excellent.
The dinning experience was wonderful for our 23 anniversary. We have been dinning at the Cliff House for 10 years now and always enjoy the occasion.
Shirle the server was outstanding, she is a gem!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect eveningMy wife and I went to celebrate and from the moment we walked in were treated like family. The menu is short but it was still hard to decided what to eat everything sounded so great. The service was great the food was wonderful and we shared a mud pie slice and it was a perfect way to finish our meal.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAWESOME !We had reservations for my 50th birthday celebration and when we arrived we asked for a great table and we were impressed how receptive you were (I can't remember our greeter). We had a drink in the bar and 10 minutes later were seated outside next to the big "rock". We LOVED the food and service and were given complimentary champagne, I'm assuming because it was my birthday ! After a wonderful experience, I was brought a birthday dessert that was to die for !!!! OMG. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone :) We had a memorable experience there and hope we can go back soon :)5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely setting, great food!Special evening out, first time, we'd heard excellent reviews...our experience was very good, service, food. We certainly would recommend this restaurant to our friends. There is an outside patio area, no views but the setting is lovely. Lovely views inside the restaurant, bar also looked busy and very nice. Only negative is its is a requirement to have valet parking which is ok, but would be nice to have a choice to park your car in the adjoining parking lot. Seems alot of the finer restaurants in the desert have mandatory valet parking for dinner only.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat location with a wonderfulGreat location with a wonderful view and ambiance. Service was great as was the food. A little noixy for my party's taste.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOur waitperson was fabulous. Our waitperson was fabulous. $19.95 menu....sunset pricing....we'll go first class next time.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been to Cliff HouseWe've been to Cliff House several times since the change in ownership, and continue to be impressed by the improvements in food and service. It really has become our favorite restaurant in this very competitive valley.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMTook a friend for a birthdayTook a friend for a birthday dinner and we had a wonderful dinner experience. Although the restaurant was full, the noise level was moderate and the service was above par.
We've enjoyed the Happy Hour there numerous times as it's one of the best in the area but I would highly recommend the more serene dining experience for a special occasion.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMSalmon was a bit dry and vegetablesSalmon was a bit dry and vegetables tough and not very tasty.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMA keeper!A truly nice restaurant with everything you need to be happy, good food, good service and a pretty location with great ambiance. I have had the calamari, and the gumbo soup is really excellent! Good happy hour and I guess everyone else has discovered it because if you don't get here by 4:30, you won't be sitting down for a while.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMPre-Summer Outdoor DiningWe had been here last month, got a table that was not-so-good. Cold, windy, a lot of noise and in a high trafic area. We went there this week-end. Great table, weather was awesome food was outstanding.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing place, amazing food!We had an amazing time at Cliffhouse! The food was amazing with great presentation...and the service was splendid. We recommend looking at the sunset specials but there are plenty of amazing options on the menu!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Local PlaceOur first time at Cliffhouse, and it's evident why this place is popular with the locals; nice bar and cheaper bar menu, elevator, (it's La Quinta, average age is 70), and nice service, (old people like nice chatty servers).
Food not amazing but good.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat views and good foodGreat views and good food and drink. Old location with new menu and vibe. New owners are very involved in operations ensuring customer satisfaction4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved It!We sat outside. The whole ambiance was really noteworthy. Our server was very helpful and attentive. Food was excellent!! Very, very happy with the entire experience.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOregon enjoys the Cliffhouse! My wife and I were there to make use of a gift certificate from a relative who lives in La Quinta and dines at the Cliffhouse regularly. Since it was our first visit we didn't know exactly what to expect. We were hoping for a great meal with excellent service, and were not in the least bit disappointed. My wife is a lover of salmon, and her order was presented as a work of art (presentation is everything), as well as being absolutely scrumptious. My prime rib was a 'melt in your mouth' quality cut of meat. The waiters were very attentive and helpful with our selections. All in all a wonderful dining experience.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOur second meal at the CliffhouseOur second meal at the Cliffhouse was a fantastic experience. The food was superb, the service beyond reproach and the ambiance perfect to enjoy the company of our guest. My son was visiting us from out of town and to celebrate this special occasion, we thought we would give the Cliffhouse another visit. Our previous meal at the Cliffhouse on Christmas Eve was not a positive experience. To the credit of the restaurant, the management went to great lengths to rectify our previous experience and encourage us to give it another chance. Initially, I was a bit concerned about taking a guest to a place where we weren’t totally comfortable but as soon as the first-bites of the appetizers were tasted, all my fears diminished. We all had wonde4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMy son and I arrived at 5pmMy son and I arrived at 5pm for dinner, valet parking greets you as you drive up. Unique building with nice views. The food was excellent, we had blue crab cakes for an appetizer, chicken breast and blackened catfish entrees with their own ice cream cake for desert. I would return next time we are in Palm Desert.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMI stayed away for awhile.I stayed away for awhile. I used to like to go to the Happy Hour but with the crowds and people standing right over your table waiting for you to leave so they can take your seat was very uncomfortable. We didn't go back all year because of this. I decided to go again as I had the coupon for the one year anniversary. I liked the remodeling. The food was very good. I'll just have to sit in the back somewhere where the sun doesn't shine on me.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMPut it on the list!We have been to the desert many many times and generally there is no restaurant that we feel compelled to return to. Cliffhouse, however, has a lot going for it. The food, sometimes novel is a Californian experience, never knew how to eat an artichoke until this past week! Veronica our server, very hard worker, is deserved of all acclaim; she makes the night! We had grilled artichoke, beet salad, Alaskan halibut and grilled rib-eye, all very well prepared and on the patio with a slight breeze, a couple of great glasses of wine and yes a romantic candle! This is as food as any other restaurant of note in the desert. It isn't Morgans, but then again neither is the price point.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMhad a very nice time .. ourhad a very nice time .. our waitress Sharon (I think, sorry not 100% sure) was super cool & very engaging. We really enjoyed appetizer duck confit, never had it before it & was excellent.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have eaten several timesWe have eaten several times at the Cliffhouse and every one has been a wonderful experience. The food is excellently prepared and very well presented. Service is prompt and servers are knowledgeable. The setting is wonderful, up against the rocks with a well-designed artificial waterfall. My only quibble is with the wine list. Wines from France and Washington State are notable by their absence, and prices are high. However, Wednesday is half price wine night. Take advantage!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat eveningFast friendly service, excellent food their rack of lamb was delicious, great wines too.
Would highly recommend it.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, good service, specialGood food, good service, special location and ambiance3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe will be back. Had a greatWe will be back.
Had a great meal.
Dressy up or casual place to eat.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial place with attentive servicExcellent food, fantastic service, and unique ambiance make this a favorite for our trips to the Coachella Valley. This week, our waiter Nick was fantastic with so much knowledge and advice about wine and the menu! He was engaging and we had some common geography that made for some laughs. I LOVED my salmon dish and everyone else enjoyed their entrees as well.
The special location on the cliff side makes you feel as if you are really getting a unique experience. There is outside dining that I'd love to try close to the wall of the cliff. But we asked for a sunset view on line and were accommodated. We shared delicious desserts. Upon leaving, the manager again was personable and excited about his restaurant and answered any questions our3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMA lively pleasant spot forA lively pleasant spot for an evening with a friend. Our waitress Veronica enhanced our meal with friendly service.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAn excellent experience. WeAn excellent experience. We enjoyed a very nice Sunset Dinner. Food great and a first visit for our guests who were very impressed. We will ve back.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, the meal was delightful. As always, the meal was delightful. The food was prepared to perfection and the service was unobtrusive but attentive. My scallops were moist and the green beans, carmelized onions and chorizo were a novel approach. Two of our friends had the barbecue ribs and the tender meat fell off the bones. Our other friends raved about the salmon and the petrale sole. So everyone was happy to come to such a beautiful restaurant.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent meals were had byExcellent meals were had by everyone in our party. The wine list was on an iPad - very cool! Highly recommend the grilled artichoke as an appetizer and the Cliffhouse Ice Cream for dessert!3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Ambiance, Food & ServiceThe lounge and bar patio were full at 6PM on a Tues eve with many dining in both areas (this was during the BNP Parabas Open, less than a mile from there. They were very accommodating by having a waiter serve us cocktails in their waiting area. They have an outdoor patio off the main dining area that is practically nestled into the mountain (very romantic in the evening-please check it out). We ordered heavy on the appetizer's - Poached shrimp cocktail, crabcakes, oysters & shaved ahi tartare (wonderful ginger infusion). Great for tasting & sharing w/ all. We then ordered Seared scallops (Perfect!), Seared Ahi Tuna (could have been fresher) & Filet Mignon (very good onion sauce). Will definitely go back!!3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousWe always enjoy our meal here. Friendly staff, and great to eat outside.3/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a winner!Always a great meal here! Outside seating is wonderful.2/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe ribs were a little dryThe ribs were a little dry - sauce was good, cole slaw was awful, corn bread was very dry1/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe really enjoyed this sisterWe really enjoyed this sister restaurant to Pacifica, way more than its family member. Amusing wine list presentation on an iPad, although they think that a white zinfadel (ick!)is a Rose. My husband, the duck lover, was a little disappointed in the flavor of his duck, but salads were all delicious--had the wedge with the vinagrette--and I really enjoyed the Seafood Stew, while daughter loved the salmon. Excellent service and lovely rooms--truly on the Cliff. Have outdoor areas with heaters, but those rooms smelled a little like butane, so we asked to be moved inside.12/27/2012 12:00:00 AMSince the group from PacificaSince the group from Pacifica took over the restaurant it has markedly improved in quality of food, ambience and service. It is always a pleasure to dine at Cliffhouse.12/10/2012 12:00:00 AM
