From the moment you approach the Cliffhouse you are surrounded by the dramatic sights and sounds of this desert destination. Jutting from a massive rock outcropping above the desert floor the Cliffhouse is renowned for its spectacular views across the valley and providing a lively, casual destination to enjoy a menu of American classics with innovative preparations focused on premium steaks and seafood at great prices.

The historic ranch house ambiance complete with a massive fireplace, expansive windows and rustic beamed ceilings creates a warm welcoming environment from which to gaze at the magnificent mountains, share a meal and conversation and stay awhile. The menu highlights vibrant flavors from the valley along with a generous selection of fresh fish and seafood.   • "The staff was most accommodating. We were seating next to a window in a large room away from the bar scene. Noise level was quiet til the evening wore on & more diners joined us in the room. Our young lady who took our orders and followed up to make sure nothing was lacking is a great asset to your restaurant. We had a wondering evening dining with our friends.   • "When I travel I always look for something new and different. This restaurant came to me through a friend and so we decided to give it a try. The parking lot was full at 5:30 pm when we arrived. Didn't realize they have an old folks option and it was jammed with them. All for $19.95. Anyway, we ordered the rib eye steaks which were just OK. Not cooked as we asked but we didn't make a big deal of it. Our waitress was excellent and at the end of the evening offered us their signature dessert on the house in compensation for the steak fiasco. We were full from the meal but decided to take her up on it. Disappointed a manger spent time with regulars and no time to say hello to new people. Big mistake on his part. We might not come back."

The food was good, although I thought the baked artichoke appetizer was a bit greasy with a mayonnaise sauce under it and it was smothered in melted cheese with a bread stuffing inside. It was difficult to eat. My scallops were delicious as was the ice cream pie for dessert! We will definitely be back!"

Everything was spectacular--love the redesign of the restaurant and bar areas, the food was delicious, our server attentive and knowledgable. Couldn't have been better. Nice crowd for a Monday night--I'm looking forward to checking out the bar scene sometime. Don't miss the baked parmesan artichoke--even out of season it's so tasty. And the Japanese clam chowder (not cream or potato-based) was unique and delicious. We'll be back!"

  • "It may have been our waitress but she was slow, inattentive and did not listen. She started her "pitch" with "Welcome to the Cliffhouse, I'm great thanks for asking." Not sure who asked but we all looked at each other not sure if it was a joke... but she continued on speaking. She made a recommendation on one dish which was ordered and was a pitiful chicken breast too tough to cut. Drink refills were only given when requested. One of the five asked and only they were brought a refill. Not sure we'll be running back there anytime soon."

  • "Tuck up against and into a small mountain, the Cliffhouse offers a beautiful setting with a spectacular view of the valley. This setting and view sets the bar for expectations on a fantastic meal, which will be easily met. The service is great, the food spectacular and the ambience is perfect. With a very nice wine and cocktail selection to start, they offer a nice selection of appetizers - I strongly recommend their grilled, stuffed artichoke or their beet salad. This visit, I had the scallops which were seared just perfectly atop a very nice cream sauce; my guest chose the shortribs which had an unbelieveable flavor. While the menu has mostly a seafood selection, for those who prefer other than fish, you have a nice selection"

  • "As a first timer to California, this was one of the most spectacular views from a restaurant we encountered in our trip. I was only disappointed that my family didn't see it lit up at night as I had. The food was excellent with a good level of seasoning and everyone found multiple choices they were interested in (which is good since we can bring a fussy set of dining tastes at times). The wait staff in both the lobby bar area (where we never were served) and the dining area seemed rather rushed and not as engaged as we are accustomed to, but the dining server successfully delivered what we requested. The food and view might bring me back ..."

  • "The restaurant is lovely. The service was good. The food was mediocre. We were 4 people and had the sundown dinner for $19.75. The Japanese clam chowder had no flavor and tasted more like mushroom gravy than a soup. I sent mine back and got the caesar salad in place of it. The sour dough bread was the highlight of the dinner. Very good. The sugar/spice salmon was tasty, but again, average. The mashed potatoes were soupy in texture. The green beans were good. We have been there before and liked the food, this time we were very disappointed. OUr friend were there for the first time, and they probably will not return. Something was off. I don't think we will go there again."

  • "Since the change in ownership and management we have been to the Cliffhouse a few times and each time we visit we vow to go back more frequently. We made a last minute reservation for dinner on Father's Day and were so happy we were able to get in even though they were very busy. Our server, Teresa, was just terrific and, not sure how to better describe her personality other than elegant! She greeted us warmly, graciously described the specials of the day and just made us feel welcome and comfortable. I ordered the artichoke appetizer which is the best I have ever had-Anywhere-it is loaded with cheese and delicious!! It was like an artichoke pizza without the crust!! The special prime rib was amazing!! Can't wait to return!!!"

  • "We went in or the Restaurant week fare. We had reservations at six on a Wednesday evening. As it turned out we made it in time for their Early Bird dinners (5-6 pm) for 19.99. This includes appetizer and entree. So not only did we make it for the early bird meal (which was quite delicious) but on Wednesday they have half off price bottles of wine. During the week they also have other deals but the gem is early bird and half off for a bottle of wine Wednesday! "
