Diner Reviews
  • "Stayed overnight at the Cliff House and enjoyed a delicious dinner. First time we had been there and we will definitely return. Creative menu, impeccable service and great food. Be sure you save room for dessert."

  • "We enjoyed a romantic, delicious anniversary dinner at The Cliff House, The menu was extensive enough to make choosing difficult. The striped sea bass was exquisite as was the elk rib eye steak. Everything was perfect!"

  • "In my opinion, the Cliff House rates among the best places for fine dining in the Colorado Springs area. The atmosphere is pleasant, the kitchen creative and competent, the staff provided perfectly balanced service - attentive but not intrusive, knowledgeable but not pretentious. Highly recommended."

  • "My wife and I appreciated the quiet atmosphere that allowed for intimate conversation. The historic atmosphere was very interesting. The service was well timed and attentive without being intrusive. The trout dish was unique and very satisfying. Our evening at the Cliff House was a wonderful experience."

  • "Even though this restaurant is not a "kid-restaurant" our wait staff could not have been done anything more to accommodate us and our 5 grandchildren. They truly made the dining experience an event. Thanks!"

  • "We had a memorial 40th Anniversary dinner. We were able to take our time and we took advantage of this and had a leisurely evening. The Guitarist was engaging and also made our evening. Spent the night and then we were able to experience a Great Sunday Brunch. We have already made this as a suggestion to several couples. Thanks Steve Hall"

  • "We celebrated an occasion, it was wonderful as always! We had the trout and the salmon on the menu- both delicious! We also ordered the mushroom en croute appetizer- delectable! The wine list is expansive, but the sommelier was very helpful. We decided to top off with chocolate and port wine- alas no dark chocolate on the dessert menu! We ordered the port anyway and were pleased when our port was brought out with extra "house" chocolates to take up to our room. We had reserved a room as well (for the complete romance package) but were so stuffed- we just fell into bed and slept the sleep of the satiated tastebuds! All in all it was fabulous!"

  • "The fire place and quite dining room were perfect for our Valentine's Day celebration. My husband was amazed with the lobster bisque. I savored every bite of my pork chop with squash and sauteed spinach. We will definitely revisit the Cliff House in the quaint town of Manitou Springs."

  • "I took my girlfriend here for a late Valentines Day dinner, and it was amazing. The service was great and very friendly. Our food came in a timely manner and was delicious. They have a very good selection of wine and the decorations are amazing. You can tell it was an old building but it was done very nicely. We would highly recommend this place for a date"

  • "Read the glowing reviews on open table and tripadivsor and they sure were right on target. Everything was perfect from a beautiful dining room to well trained servers to one of the best fish and chip lunches we've ever had. Definitely worth a trip and very close to Garden of the Gods, so you get the majesty of Mother Nature and one heck of a good meal"

  • "The service was outstanding!!! My only complaint and it is minor, was that the food came out a little cooler than expected."

  • "My husband and I chose the Cliff House dining room for our anniversary. The dining room is decorated in modern victorian and is beautiful! The service was fantastic and very helpful...we are expecting so the server was kind enough to help me find something fun to drink that was non-alchoholic ;) The food was outstanding!! We had the petite filet. At first we thought they forgot to send out "steak knives" - nope! - you could cut it up with a butter knife with no problem! Everything on our plate was just delicious! I would definitely recommend."

  • "We stayed at the hotel so we were given a $40 credit towards dining. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that it was indeed fine dining without the stuffiness of formal wear. The service is impeccable! The waiters were prompt yet not crowding us. The food was excellent and presentation was beautiful as well. The Creme brûlée is heaven! Definitely worth the price. We will definitely be back when we visit Manitou Springs again!"

  • "The staff was great and really made the experience. The food was good but the entrees were a bit of a let down. Try the portebello mushroom appetizer! It is wonderful as is the souffle desert. I had always wanted to go to the CliffHouse, but now will most likely not return."

  • "The presentation was very nice, and the wines were plenty. The selection of food was mouth watering, however, the chicken dinner was dry and tough. For the price my expectation is it to be moist, tender, and flavorful. The staff was knowledgable and friendly."

  • "Very relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. Just the right pace on the service. Food was very good, and the waiter (Ron?) was quite helpful and knowledgeable about preparation. Would highly recommmend"

  • "The Colorado Springs part of my work group always goes somewhere special for a celebration to start the New Year. This year we chose the Cliff House. I've been there several times in the past and the food and service were always outstanding. This dinner was a great disappointment. The dish I ordered came with 'seasonal vegetables'. I asked the waiter what they were. He responded that it was zucchini and squash. I was able to substitute the brussel sprouts which was nice, but they were very ordinary. The seasonal vegetables turned out to be asparagus and carrots. I love asparagus, but one of our other diners said it was bitter. No way to win on this one. The 'medium well' filet I ordered was bleeding profusely. Just not worth it."

  • "As always, The Cliff House did not disappoint. It has been a few years since we have had dinner here and I wanted a special birthday dinner for my husband. It was special from the moment we walked in the door and greeted with birthday greetings for my husband, to staff who welcomed us, waited on us, answered our questions, and made us feel like guests, real guests. Food was outstanding as always. Special birthday dessert was unexpected and fun. Overall, just a wonderful, relaxing and special dinner."

  • "The ambiance is vintage and the staff are the most friendly and available that we have had in a long time at a restaurant. We made reservations online and requested a quiet table by a window. That's exactly what we received. The food was delicious and served in a professional and creative way. We look forward to returning in the coming year."

  • "The Cliff House always exceeds our expectations. The food is great, the wine steward helpful with a great choice and the service exceptional."

  • "My wife and I took my 31 year old daughter to the Cliff House this past Sunday for a special birthday celebration. It was an excellent experience with great food and service. The ambiance was perfect in this old, quaint hotel and dining room with its beautiful décor. The dining room was also nice and quiet so we could visit. Perfect for our needs for the evening The food and wine parings were excellent and their prices appropriate for the quality. Service was also excellent....attentive and friendly but not overly so. My wife and I plan to return for an anniversary or birthday celebration next year and may stay at the hotel overnight as well. I definitely will be recommending this to our family and friends."

  • "I only come to the cliff House for birthdays or some special event. It is such a great place that I always want it to feel special and does the 2-3 times per year that I go. It is quite an elegant experience without feeling stuffy. I love it!"

  • "Surprised my husband for his birthday with the Foodie Package which included a nights stay at the Inn and a restaurant credit. The food was excellent and the service wonderful. Good suggestions from waitstaff, food timing was perfect, and just an all around delightful experience. Only complaint was that we were seated next to a window which would have been fantastic, except with it -5 outside, the window seats were a bit chilly. Fortunately had a sweater nearby."

  • "Went for the amazing app Mushroom en Croute, and enjoyed the Colorado Rack of Lamb - baby skin tender and flavorful - crusted with pistachios! Now why didn't I think of that? Always a treat to folks who appreciate great food... and it's is great."

  • "We stayed there for my husband Cliff's birthday. Really lovely place...dinner was very special. Sitting by the fireplace....quiet , so you didn't have to scream at each other to hear. Superb service. ...but friendly , not stiff. I had the trout . It had a visual appeal and very different from just throwing a piece of fish on a plate, GRILLED asparagus , not boiled. Delish. Honestly I was so enamoured with my food that I don't remember what my husband had ! Raspberry soufflé was a treat."

  • "A great value for the great atmosphere, excellent food and outstanding service."

  • "My husband and I dined at the Cliff House dining room to celebrate my birthday. We were seated in an alcove with only 4 or 5 tables so it felt intimate. We loved the historic look and feel of the place. The food and wine were excellent as was the service. Interestingly, the dress code is very flexible to accommodate hikers as well as "dress up" affairs such as we were celebrating. The entire staff from kitchen to wait staff made us feel special for being there. Highly recommended."

  • "We thought we were going to a really highly rated restaurant in the area. The service was great and the food was ok, but nothing on the level of what we were expecting. It seemed most of the diners there were guest of the hotel. The dessert though was to die for, one of the best I have ever had, which made up for the average food at the rest of the meal."

  • "A very nice evening with my wife. So close to the Springs. Attentive staff, food and selection was great! We had a great time. We will be back."
