A word from Clement
Clement seamlessly blends an elegantly modern aesthetic for Chef de Cuisine Brandon Kida’s Contemporary American cuisine focusing on locally-sourced ingredients from the Northeast. Located in the Forbes Five Star-rated Peninsula New York hotel, Clement overlooks bustling Fifth Avenue. Designed by the international award-winning design firm, Yabu Pushelberg, the restaurant feels like a quintessential New York home, with different rooms that cater to a range of moods, desires and occasions. Private and semi-private dining areas are available.

Adjacent to Clement, The Bar offers a bewitching menu of suggested and made-to-order cocktails, a selection of wines and champagnes available by the glass, and small plates echoing the Clement menu with a touch of an Asian influence as a nod to the hotel company’s heritage.

Diner Reviews
  • "Experience here gives Restaurant Week a bad name. Appetizer (corn salad) was good; main courses (overcooked and over sauced pasta or itsy bits bass filets) were mediocre; dessert (so-called strawberry shortcake) was pretty but tasteless altho friend's s'mores were nice; bread was either stale or warmed to cardboard. Waiter steered us kindly and alerted us to $9 coffee and $12 expresso. Handicapped guest needed to take 2 elevators — one was small and hand operated — to reach restaurant, which is pretty and has great view of Fifth Ave. but falls FAR SHORT in quality of food. Usually we return to Restaurant Week establishments. Will steer VERY clear of this one."

  • "I have never tasted such amazing food! The ambience was absolutely superb, and the service was very welcoming and professional."

  • "Food wasn't as appetizing as it looked online and the presentation was fair for the high pricing. However, the service was impeccable...the service, unfortunately was the only good thing about the experience."

  • "Superb, what a top dining experience! Flavor, taste, freshness, just incredible. Perfect informal/formal service, atmosphere quiet and lovely and beautiful. Above all, the wonderful food: Great combinations of complementary tastes in every dish, vivid in every bite and every ingredient. Overwhelming. Sounds like I'm the publicist, but I have no connection at all. From now on I want only to go here."

  • "Wonderful dining experience. Loved the shrimp caesar's salad. Shrimp plentiful and tasty. A also had the thin cup rust pizza. Also delicious. Enjoyed the mezza plate as well. Dim sum was average. Nothing to rave about. Sauce wasn't so tasty. Had a watered down taste to it. Ambiance is spectacular. Pricey!"

  • "what a great transformation from 555 in all aspects from space to decor to food and service. Almost at **** level And, it's nexr door neighbor could copy"

  • "A very expensive restaurant with mediocre food. The music from the bar overwhelms the atmosphere in the restaurant. During our meal right beside our table, the manager was yelling at our server for not bringing another table's check quickly enough. The food was well presented but a poor blend of flavors. Smoked puréed potatoes were so smoky nothing else came through. The only positive in this meal were the desserts but too little, too late to save this dining experience."

  • "The food was amazing. The service couldn't be any better. I'll definitely go back to the restaurant and will definitely stay in Peninsula Hotel again."

  • "Whilst one may not address the -utterly unbecoming- "behavior" of someone's progenitor, it is however baffling to observe so-called parents exhibit a blatant disregard for the "de minimis" consideration one must exhibit vis-a-vis other patrons, to put it euphemistically. A "Modest Proposal" a la Jonathan Swift: if your kids have got no inkling what a modicum of decorum stands for, do order room service and spare us, mere mortals -who are merely attempting to enjoy a rather onerous breakfast and substantively discuss life-altering matters-, with a vivid display of Neanderthal-like behavior: food fights, screams, races through tables, while "botoxed" mothers and "absentee" fathers are MIA! Is this the Peninsula or some joint in Appalachia?"

  • "We usually have brunch or dim sum with our kids, who live in the city, before heading back home but because we had to leave early, we looked for an interesting breakfast place. Everything that we had here was excellent but the prices are a bit of a sticker shock, even by Manhattan standards. That said, my huevos rancheros were loaded with flavor; beans cooked with chorizo, lots of avocado, perfectly cooked eggs and pico de gallo. My daughter's cornflake crusted french toast was crisp on the outside and tender inside and served with nutella and lemon mascarpone on the side. That was it for sides though. Everything is extra. I would probably spring for brunch here sometime, since the food is so good."

  • "It may be that there is an interest in being too clever here. The produce was all wonderfully fresh and good quality. But none of our meals were standouts. It may be that I chose heavy dishes; the soft shell crab was heavily battered and flavoured, the suckling pig pork delicious, a little dry, but offset nicely by octopus. Service was attentive."

  • "This is the second time in the past few months that I have dined here. Had the 5 course pre-fixe and one course was better than the next. Excellent service and excellent food. The flavors were seasonal and delicious. Always happy to accomodate time schedules for show and the like. We had nothing but time so we relaxed after we were done with dinner chatting for a while without anyone looking to shoo us out the door. Fantastic!"

  • "I have been here for breakfast several times but this was my first time having dinner here. The food presentation was beautiful and the taste was on par with the plating. The service here is always top notch."

  • "I chose Clement based on decent reviews and a menu I liked to meet a friend nearby. It was so odd. There was only one other table taken in this very large and ongoing space. And it was taken by a near caricature of what you'd think an uppity, annoying, celeb-mom would be like when ordering. "I'd like the tuna salad but can you make that with chicken?" She gave cooking details so descriptive it was almost pointless to go out. But other than that, this place was DEAD quiet. The waiters hovered the whole time & were too formal. And pushed us too much to have cocktails. Turns out, every drink we ordered was $9. Water? $9. Iced Tea? $9. Coffee? $9. The entree they recommended, the black sea bass was truly bland and the mushroom was sandy. Blah."

  • "This was my first time to Clement and I will certainly be back. The food and service were wonderful, with many options for those who prefer breakfast and those who prefer lunch. The pre-brunch "market" items were a wonderful treat!"

  • "on every level, this hotel restaurant succeeds. Was not expecting the level of cuisine service and ambiance so was delighted with the delicious cuisine, esp the tater tots - home made no less! Super ambiance as it overlooks Fifth Ave and great bar scene tucked around the corner also a great private dining room and communal table lends itself to all sorts of events. Can't wait to go back and try the cocktail menu! HIGHLY recommended as a mid town oasis!"

  • "Took a friend for her birthday lunch and it was fabulous, such a gem. The food was amazing, the staff were attentive but not cloying. This restaurant was such a treat. I hope people go, and often, would love for this place to be around for a long time. A comfortable yet elegant vibe. "

  • "I tried to book a good foodie restaurant for this past Saturday evening at 3 pm but there was nothing available among my old favorites (Craft, Modern Bar Room, Gotham Grill, etc). We ended up choosing Clement based on the OpenTable reviews, despite the fact that it is in mid-town at the Peninsula: neither our favorite neighborhood nor a setting we would normally choose. We were not disappointed! The contemporary farm-to-table menu was well executed. Stand-outs included delicious Hudson Valley foie gras served with fresh pea puree and sugar snap peas (healthy greens instead of the normal sweet &salty foie gras pairing) and black bass in a duck broth. The wine list was ambitious but we found a decent white Burgundy for $71 a bottle. "

  • "Looking for a special place for a special anniversary I realizes that I had an advantage as a member of the Peninsula Spa if I used the hotel's restaurant. I was very happy that I did. The service the décor and the food were all exceptional, and I intend to make this a regular place for evenings out to dinner etc."

  • "The main restaurant at the Peninsula Hotel, Clement has recently opened after a superb renovation of 555. The cuisine is adventuresome, with a few dishes too unusual for my taste. "Locally sourced" and oriented towards fish, the lunch menu also has a very fine series of salads. Chef is very adept at special courses, Sushi especially. The lobster roll on an industrial croissant is to be avoided, at least the pastry part. Very good wine list - at premium prices for the better items. Ideal for the relaxed business lunch or meal with friends. The far room is the finest but also the loudest. If you want a top coffee or tea, have it at the Gotham Bar across the hotel, rather than at Clement."

  • "I was not expecting a great meal from this newly opened Peninsula restaurant but was pleasantly surprised. The food was very good from the chef's lobster amuse Bouche to my scallops degustation and Porcelet choices. All delicious. The dessert was the biggest disappointment dropping my review from very good to good. All of the desserts in my party were marginal - not even good. If you don't eat desserts you will leave happy, otherwise . . . Service could have been paced a little faster considering the restaurant was only 1/2 full on a Saturday night. A few tweaks and this restaurant could be a winner!"

  • "At its heart Clement is still a hotel restaurant. The food is decent, but the prices are just too high, especially on the cocktails (~$25) and coffee ($9, poured from a carafe). Would only recommend if you're staying at the hotel, have money to burn, and don't have the time or desire to wander."

  • "So I went there. The famed "Clement", in the well known hotel Peninsula. I ordered the Scallops, followed by the porcelet. No dessert. The food is a-mazing. But the service ... let's say that I wasn't even done with my course that someone was already ready to take it away to bring the next one. It was a bit feeling like a race: I have to be faster than the service. Also, I paid the check in cash. The amount ended in "13", but the waiter brought me the change as if the amount was "31". Did he consider me as a tourist? I don't know, but I did not like the fact that it was either a mistake - in that kind of place you don't make mistake on the change - or intentional."

  • "The food, ambience and service were terrific. We had a fabulous pork dish, as well as an expertly prepared lobster entrée. The only negative is the wine by the glass selection and prices. The wines are not that special and the prices were at the gouging level. This needs to be corrected for me to return."

  • "The Clement (formerly FIVES) is perfect for a gourmet, leisurely lunch. -- not to be rushed. The beet salad was excellent, and the lobster dish was outstanding. I really liked the staff, too --attentive, helpful and respectful without hovering. It has a nice ambiance, although I preferred the decor of the front room (vs. the soft orange lighting in the back area). The front has an Asian influence in soft grays and browns with interesting panels on the walls. Loved that each table had different flowers in different vases. Details. The whole dining experience was wonderful. Rather expensive, but worth it -- one of my favorite restaurants!"

  • "Lovely oysters, cocktails, sampler plate AKA "market tasting plate", generous omelet, beautiful and tasty basket of pastries. Why was the bacon so overcooked? Still quite delicious, didn't realize one must specify doneness with bacon."
