one way. Because the food is over the top , excellent
the salads a week later and we are still talking about it
and of course the bread. And our group of people are
most often eating out in 5 star restaurants.

They have great food and service. They have expanded their menu over the past two years and now offer live jazz on weekend nights. Absolutely our favorite place. Wait time was low, food was cooked to specs and mouth watering my delicious. I went with the 10oz filet medium, while the wife went for the top sirloin and shrimp. The waiter was curtious and briskly checked on us through out the evening.

I live in Carlsbad and my son comes from Boston to eat at Steak-N-Stein. It was my dad's choice for his 87th birthday. Adrian is an excellent server and remembers our order even if it has been more than a year. The cheese bread is heavenly and everything is delicious. Best to pay for a split dinner since there is too much for one person to eat an entire portion alone. The best part is that you don't have to dress up and they are not snooty. Steak n Stein is a very special place. It's one of a kind in a sea of chain steak houses. It's old school. Dark rich woods, real oil painting and low lighting. Bake potato are huge! Once I arrived, I had to wait to be seated and I had to ask for the bottle of wine or it would never have been brought out. It was upsetting on a speacial occation evening dinner that was planned out. Usually I have excellent service here. This was the only time I have dined here and had a complaint. Cheesebread is amazing and endless! Three difference salad dressings accompany the salad course. Also, don't forget to ask your server about the cabbage salad (it doesn't automatically arrive anymore). Steaks come to the table on a grill which the waiter lights up for show with a huge baked potato, (don't forget about buttered onions) and fried onion rings. WOW! Incredible! We have visited Steak N Stein on a numerous occasions--birthdays, anniversaries, Mother's Day, etc.--and have never had a bad experience.
