I ordered the Khuroos-E-Tursh for the 2nd time. I liked it very much on my first visit cooked with medium spice. On my 2nd visit the dish tasted mild or even of no spice. The lack of spice made the dish over sweet and not as tasty. I love their coriander calamari and the three cheese naan. I plan to give them a third visit and hope they get the flavors right.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Indian Fare in America?Although I don't live in Austin, upon every visit to Austin a "must stop" will be the Clay Pit. The food and service just may be the best in America for Indian food. I travel frequently and sample Indian food everywhere, including India, this place surpasses them all. The panier, spicy lentils, naan, are all perfectly seasoned and cooked. Ordering by 'half order' allows for greater sampling of their robust menu. We've been there 3 times on our trips to visit Austin and this a restaurant my college age kids always ask to go to. Service is good. Usually pretty quick. The waitress was knowledgable and took her time to help us. The place was a bit loud, so carrying on a conversation was more challenging than it should have been. We had the dal makhani, jeera saag paneer, mirch masala chicken, garlic naan, and onion naan. The dal and jeera saag paneer was fantastic, and better than some places i have ate at in India, but the chicken was undercooked. Please we aware of that.
