A word from Clay Hill Farm
Originally built in 1780 as a working farm, Clay Hill Farm is now a 220-seat restaurant and special occasion venue nestled amidst 11+ acres of rolling lawns, protected woodlands, and colorful gardens. Tranquility waterfall brooks, a pond, two generous garden-view decks and a picture-perfect gazebo, now accent the traditional Maine beauty of the original working Farm. With modern cuisine in a classic setting, Clay Hill Farm has become a popular dining destination in a country escape just 2 miles West of Ogunquit village. With a passion for seasonal and locally-sourced food supporting Maine growers, Clay Hill Farm has won numerous local, regional and national awards for food, ambiance and service. It was valentines day and exactly 6 months since we had our wedding reception at clayhill. We walked in and immediately felt at home. They had a wonderful table in a corner for us and welcomed us back. The food, wine, and service were all outstanding. We will return anytime we feel the need to revisit such pleasant memories

Most of the above didn't apply for us as we were there at night and have decided to go back in the daylight and/or lunch to see views etc. It is about an hour drive from New Durham NH so we won't be able to frequent often, but it was a very pleasurable experience. We had the proscuitto wrapped black mission fig crostini with herbed goat cheese and reduced balsamic vin. It was superb!!! My husband and I each had the prime ribbed...steak and sides were cooked to perfection. We shared a creme brulee, and it was the best version I had ever had. So, we were both very satisfied with our first visit to Clay Hill Farm.

  • I do not recommend this place
    OpenTable Diner Since 2014
    Dined on 12/31/2011
I do not recommend this place to anyone. The decor is old and lacks atmosphere. The wait staff tries to be friendly, but they come off as phony. The food was uninspiring. The kitchen kept pushing out dishes, so we were done with appetizers and entrees in less than 1 hour. Everything was dry and tasteless. We were very disappointed. There are way too many better restaurants in the area to waste your time and money at Clay Hill Farm.

  • Our meal was somewhat disappointing
    OpenTable Diner Since 2011
    Dined on 12/31/2011
Our meal was somewhat disappointing especially given the 50.00 price per person for the meal alone (entree and salad). The salad was missing a crucial ingredient, the figs, and my filet mignon ordered medium rare was medium/medium well. My husband's filet was cooked correctly, the au poivre seasoning was very good, as were the side dishes. Perhaps the high price and culinary errors were due to it being New Year's eve, it was also our wedding anniversary which made it all the more disappointing.

  • Farm Fresh Menu in Maine
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 12/27/2011
Clay Hill farm was a pretty "farm fresh" restaurant that we visited for a "romantic" dinner during a Christmas week mini-vacation to Ogunquit. It has a white table-cloth atmosphere (although it was looking somewhat dated with flowery couches and drapes, etc.), and the food was a tad pricey but very well prepared. We had a perfectly-cooked duck with an interesting cranberry-based sauce, and interesting side salads with spiced nuts. Portion sizes were average but everything was tasty. Would recommend for a treat in the local area. Seems like it would be popular and very crowded in the summer, even though off the beaten path in a nature reserve area.

My boyfriend and I went to the restaurant for Christmas Eve dinner. They had a 3-course fixed price offerring. My boyfriend had the lamb while I chose the duck. Both were excellent....cooked to perfection! We sat in front of the cozy fireplace. Very romantic dinner and the service was outstanding.

everything was great the Lobster bisque was just as outstanding as it was 20 years ago. The special salad with figs and goat cheese was generous and delicious. The duck was very good but I was disappointed that I got two legs and no breast. Especially because I like the breast meat the best. Other than that it was great.

Although we live about an hour and a quarter away, we choose the Clay Hill Farm for special occasions and just a romantic evening away. The restaurant is located on a tree farm. It is beautiful in the spring when the flowers bloom and enjoyable really any time of the year. The food is well prepared, with entrees for all tastes. The service is very good. Our waitress was attentive but not overbearing. She could answer questions about the food preparation.

We made an online reservation. I commented in the box it was our anniversary. Driving up the drive, there was a quiet, pretty, soothing ambiance about the exterior. We were greeted by a Hostess, who was very friendly, and wished us a Happy Anniversay. So far so good. We were then seated at a table, in the mix of everyone else. There were more private tables by with window with a view, but we didn't get to sit there. I ordered wine, and got a half a glass for $6.oo! The food was pretty darn good and done in a timely manner. Dessert was good also. The service, well that was like two people who didn't really want to be there. I don't like having two people wait on me.It's a little confusing, tries to be upscale, but ends up not quite up to par.
