Overall, our dinner was a good experience. The cold salmon plate and the ceviche were outstanding. Great bread. However, the roast oysters were really terrible and should be avoided- just a bunch of buttery breadcrumbs, no discernible oyster flavor, in 6 shells. Excellent service. Clark's is, however, annoyingly overpriced, we would guess by 20-30%. Clearly, this is what the market will bear, but it rankles.

Clark's is much more than an oyster bar. The oyster selection is huge and they have several caviars on the menu - but there's also great appetizers & an extensive menu featuring both red meat and dish entrees and great side dishes. Be sure to have reservations!

First time at Clark's for brunch on Saturday and it was great. The table was ready for us and the service was great. Compared to Perla's it is around the same pricing maybe a little more expensive. I was with a group of 4 so we treated it as a special occasion (friends came in from out of town) so we didn't mind the pricing. Love how small it is and it still didn't seem cramped or anything.

We went here for a birthday dinner; 2 people, 9:30pm reservation. There are only about 6 indoor tables, so you definitely want to have a reservation. There is more outdoor tables than indoor. They take reservations late into the evening which was important to us on this particular night. We had 8 oysters, crab mac&cheese, clams in white wine & garlic sauce which was amazing, and cioppino which was just ok (not a fan of the base).

Our meal was fantastic from beginning to end. We had one of the caviars, the crudo plate, a lobster roll, and the crispy gulf snapper. We started off with some champagne and then had a fabulous lighter red wine to pair with the entrees. The service was impeccable.

I have been here before and it was pretty good. This last visit was a complete miss on the service. The waiter was barely present. He made several mistakes. It was a Wednesday night so maybe not the first string in terms of servers. I recommend this place it is a little less creative then Perlas (across town) but a great local spot none the less. Alice is the host or manager and has been very good in the past. Enjoy!

We were early birds, but we had lots of company. Finally asked the name of my favorite server…it is Nathan. He introduced us to a dish I had continually ignored. The ceviche was really wonderful. The cauliflower was new that day and we all loved it, as well as the brussel sprouts. Our friends from Phoenix said it was just right and they want to go again next time. Thank you Clark's!

Clark's just has a different feel. The light. The space. The staff. It's unique and has a clean and fresh feel. The food is very good. I don't think I had enough different items but I very much liked what I got. I wasn't blown away. The fresh oysters were excellent but I did feel a tad overpriced. They have a good range of craft drafts. All in all it's an excellent spot. I like the energy and quality and look forward to returning.

Our server was absolutely the best. Just the right amount of attention, and that is not easy! He made a big difference in the dining experience. He suggested halibut when I asked which fish…and its not one I usually order. He was so right…Dee licious! I can't explain what the Bibb/ watercress salad does for my taste buds. Just called me addicted to it! My date had a lobster sandwich. Gawd, big chunks of lobster laying on top of a beautiful roll of some sort. I was offered a bite and I am regretting not taking him up on it. I did taste the cole slaw and it was divine. So fresh and perfectly dressed. There is always a sweetheart of a hostess up front too. Love this place called Clark's Oyster Bar…looking forward to the oysters next time!

Clark's Oyster Bar is a a cute, tiny restaurant. The food was fine - not nearly good enough to make up for the restaurant's shortcomings. We sat inside, but were still bothered by flies and gnats throughout dinner. A little better air flow would have been welcome as well. Once you sit down, be prepared to stay as there is only one very narrow outlet for staff and patrons to get in and out of the seating area. On a positive note, all of the staff that we encountered were very good.. We may visit this restaurant again, but try the outdoor seating in the Fall.

I have been wanting an authentic crab Louie. Clark's was good, but I am going to have to go to San Francisco to get what I want. The ceviche was awesome. My husband had east coast oysters which he said were very good as well as the chowder. The stone fruit tart- do NOT pass up. My only complaint is that it is very intimate seating inside and Chatty Cathy and her 3 friends were at the next table. She had Brussels sprouts - which I hate- and the strong smell was almost more than I could stand. Next time, we will get a table outside. The wait staff was superb.

Still great! No one is knocking Gulf oysters; they have their application. But expect the very best of the NW and NE here, miyagis, kumamotos, shiny seas. The prices are about 25 cents higher per oyster here than in downtown Seattle, which, considering the additional distance traveled, doesn't seem bad. The various roasted fishes are outstanding. It's a very small restaurant and they pipe in loud music, both inside and outside. Great fish- and shellfish-appropriate wine list. Hit or miss service -- but that seems endemic to hip restaurants in Austin. Nice interior design!

Found this on yelp and took a shot. Everything was perfect. Until.. The table next to us started conversation about everything we ordered throughout our meal. We loved the food and service.. Hated not having some space. The people next to us were nice but we were on a romantic date and had to constantly conversate with them about our oysters, our appetizers, our meal, and.. Our desert as if they were part of our 2 person party. Next time I'd ask for a more private table. I'd reconnect this place to friends but only on a social basis. Don't get me wrong, everything was great, we just wished we had more privacy or space between tables. People next to us constantly asking how much we are spending on things was annoying..

We had a 9pm reservation on a Wed. with 2 other adults and a 2yr old. As soon as we walked in the staff was great and very accommodating. This was my 4th time at Clarks and if you haven't been here it is one of my favorite restaurants in Austin. Atmosphere and ambience is great and changes well over lunch to dinner. It wasn't a busy night but far from empty. We ordered oysters, and shooters to start. Even though they were out of a few oysters they still had both East/West coast, which were great. For our main course we order the Lobster Roll, Crab Cake, Crispy Gulf Snapper, fries, and a grilled cheese. Everything was perfect and had no complaints. The people I was with were from out of town and they were already planning to come back.
