A word from Clark's Oyster Bar
Clark's features classic American seafood with an emphasis on freshness, local products, simple preparation, attention to detail, and clean presentation.

Classic coastal cooking from the Texas Gulf to the Northeastern Seaboard will influence Clark's menu. A large portion of the concept is devoted to the Oyster, Cold Bar, Seafood, & Caviar. We procure the freshest oysters from small harvesters around North America and serve cold seafood platters featuring super fresh daily specials.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Dinner with a friend. Her first visit. Exquisite oysters. Not to be missed. Will be back often"

  • "Clark's is an excellent place to eat. We went for our 30th anniversary. Had great champagne and the fresh oysters are a head above any others around here. My husband ordered the clams and mussels in a silky broth that was very good especially with the sourdough bread, that is made in-house, for sopping up the said broth. I ordered for the first time, their cruddo plate that was so light and fresh tasting that it will definitely be a new favorite. Not only is the food great but every person that we encountered there was friendly and helpful. Highly suggest a trip to Clark's for any special occasion or for none at all."

  • "Delicious, tasty, yummy...you name it, Clark's is it. I took our best client there for lunch yesterday and was impressed with the high quality of food, service, and quiet atmosphere. Pricey? Yes, but worth every dime."

  • "AMAZING oyster and caviar selection!!! The scallops and crab cakes are some of the best I've had. I would highly recommend Clark's!!"

  • "Great food. Little pricy. Service is a little slow but it's a bar so I wasn't too unhappy about it"

  • "Went there for oytsters and was not disappointed. The dining room is quite small and very loud. Our waitress was tremendous - competent . pleasant, helpful., etc. We'll go back!"

  • "When I say little there were only a handful of tables inside. The patio was the same size as the inside. They sat us promptly as we arrived on time for our reservation (which I strongly recommend due to the size of the place). The food was excellent and reasonably priced, my only knock was on the pot de creme which was too sweet even for me and I have a sweet tooth. When the waitress asked I mentioned it was too sweet and she offered to change it out for something else which we declined. Great service and very nice atmosphere."

  • "Redfish on the shell....YUM!!!! A favorite place to talk and have a tete a tete, as well as great food and wine. Service is always fun and attentive. We will continue to make it our place on West 6th!"

  • "What I always love about Clarks is the attention to the little things. The wine is actually served at the proper temperature. In most resaurants, the red is too warm and the white is too cold. Also, the bread with house made butter, salt and radishes is a great detail. The service is attentive and the wait staff well versed in the menu and wine list. I have never had a less than wonderful dish here and I eat here fairly often. Clarks is a very under appreciated Austin gem."

  • "I had grilled redfish which came with a watercress salad, dressed just right. It was a perfect dinner."

  • "We had a late lunch or an early evening meal. Great service by Jessie, great food, very quiet, one of the best."

  • "We have been to Clark's a number of times and always enjoy the food and service we receive. What made this visit particularly different was the guy at the table next to ours that was on his phone, talking loudly, for almost half of the time. He was at a table of 4, and I was astounded that he would carry on a conversation on his phone when other people were at the table with him, much less talk loud enough for the entire small space that is Clark's to hear him. We asked the waiter if Clark's had a "no cell phone policy" and he said "no, sorry" which was quite unfortunate because the guy on the phone's obnoxiousness made our experience (and I'm sure others experience) much worse. Please enact a policy and enforce it!"

  • "This place has a great happy hour! I know it's an "oyster bar" but you have to give the burger a chance. You won't regret it!"

  • "Clark's Oysters had impeccable service, amazing oyster recommendations by our friendly waiter and fabulous food!! The Oysters were delish! the Shrimp toast amazing and the ceviche beautiful and yummy! Everything was just wonderful. I already know I want to order next time - the oysters rockefeller, the brussel sprouts and the cioppino! Everything was fantastic. Can't wait to go back!!"

  • "Our server Jesse was outstanding. The food was delicious"

  • "The oysters are perfect, shrimp great but skip the rest especially main course which is way overpriced."

  • "Except for the fries with the hamburger, portions are not large. Mac & cheese with crab meat was good! Wonderful service. Jessie never interrupted our conversations, kept water glasses full and was very helpful with gluten questions. A little noisy but not too bad. Sparkling white and lots of windows. Outside seating was small but well done. Prices were reasonable. Valet parking and lots of street parking for free."

  • "One day I'll make it past the cold menu to try the hot dishes but I can't get enough of the oysters, Crab Louie and Lobster Roll! Also love the Cucumber Gimlets! Not cheap but hits the spot for great fresh seafood."

  • "The only problem everyone in our party noticed is that the lighting is too dim making it difficult to read the menu. Otherwise the food and service are wonderful."

  • "We love everything about Clark's, with the exception of their too thin fries. Food is fantastic and the drinks are exceptional. If the fries were just a little bit thicker, they'd be perfect as well. (It's like eating French fried angelhair pasta.) Great burgers, oysters, and lobster rolls and their Cioppino is the best I've ever had. Wonderful place for brunch!"

  • "My wife and I went for lunch and were amazed at the menu and the quality of the food. It is not cheap, but you get what you pay for. I would highly recommend it, particularly for seafood."

  • "The ambience is lovely, a small intimate space with space at the bar and a few small tables indoors and outdoors. The food is fresh and delicious and the staff is well versed in the menu items. We enjoyed the oysters, ceviche, and catch of the day scallops and all were phenomenal. There were a wide range of cocktails, all presented beautifully. Would definitely go back!!"

  • "We tried three oyster varieties this visit. Summerside, wellfleet and riptide. We ordered a third dozen (all riptide) because they were very fresh, nice and salty. For entres we had a red grouper, gulf snapper with skin on and clams and mussels. All were excellent and not much sharing occurred. We have the Riefle Cemant sparking wine. What a find."

  • "I've been here many times and have never been disappointed. Their seafood is fresh and abundant and the service is excellent. Futhermore, all of their sides and drinks are delicious as well."

  • "I gas seen it before, and thought of it often. It seems expensive, but the tower of seafood is an excellent value with all its glorious crustacean goodness. With a salad to start, the tower, and a lovely bottle of white wine we were happy diners. Tried the Basque cake and it was yummy, though the cream cheese flavored ice cream was notably bland. This restaurant is a gem with careful service from the staff."

  • "Very good... really enjoyed large oyster selection. Prices a little high but... We were surprised at the small size of the dining area and amazed the servers maneuvered so well in such tight quarters."

  • "We have been going to Clark's for at least a year now and have never had a bad meal. Their bread is the best we've ever tasted in Austin and we've lived here for 37 years! Their fish is always fresh and their wine choices are good. We love the people there and the ambiance is great!"

  • "By far the best seafood preparation in Austin! We had a lovely lunch of oysters, clam chowder, lobster roll and crab cake. Delicious fresh flavors. The service was excellent and this was the best meal we've had in a while. It's a small place so make a reservation if you can."

  • "We had a date with my wife there and we were pleasantly surprised about the quality of the food and the great wine list. Small place but cute and great service. Even the French fries were out of this world. Highly recommended. We are going back."

  • "We had a weekend in Austin between Christmas and New Year's, and kicked it off with dinner at Clark's, and it was a great start to the weekend. The service and atmosphere were both great, and the food was superb. We started with the shrimp toast, and then enjoyed the cioppino, crab cakes, shells and cheese with crab, salads, and the key lime tart. Everyone loved the food and agreed that this is a great spot. As seating is limited, you should definitely make a reservation!"

  • "I've been to Clark's several times, however, this time I was dissatisfied. The bread we started out with was completely charred black. I cannot believe someone would even serve it. I asked for different bread and was brought the exact same problem. I'd rather the restaurant told me, the bread is burnt, do you mind? I had a lobster roll. It had too much salt on it and tasted as if the lobster was leftover from the night before. Usually I love Clark's, but felt the restraunt was not up to par."

  • "Great drinks and oysters. We were there early on a Monday and the arrival of the drinks and oysters took too much time for a restaurant that had eight customers."

  • "There just wasn't much right either. I took my mom there, since she was visiting from out of town and I was dying to try it out. Just like Perla's, I left underwhelmed. I was seated directly under an air vent it was chilly outside but they had the AC blasting. So being freezing, was not a good way to started the night out. Clarks is super small, which for us meant listening to both tables conversations next to us. Not intentionally of course, but you really cant help it. My fish was pretty good, and my moms whole Branzino, which was not good. No flavoring. We had great wine and good service, but for $150 for the 2 of us (mind you, that is with no appetizers or deserts) I wont be returning to Clarks."
