Diner Reviews
  • "So I had read a few reviews on google and was apprehensive about the food. However, we were seated quickly at a lovely sized table. The restaurant was fairly busy, but the noise was kept to a respectful chatter, and I ws able to talk to my wife without having to raise my voice etc I have never had lobster, so I thought I would treat myself to a surf and turf. The waiting staff were amazingly helpful and friendly. When my food arrived, the lobster was huge!! And well presented. The staff saw that I was struggling to take apart the lobster (I had no idea what I was doing), and very kindly asked if I would like him to help. I was so impressed how professional he was, and did not make me feel like an idiot Very impressed and I would come back"

  • "We had a 9pm reservation and the restaurant was half empty. The chowder was substandard - very thin. The Lobster-Salad and the Lobster dish we had were quite good. Service was standard. Waiter was unable to give the market prices and had just a basic idea about the wines. "

  • "The food was good, not great. Ordered Filet Mignon Medium, it was overcooked and did not taste like Filet, but it was good enough to eat, not so bad that it had to be returned. Husband had very small portion of fish. Delicious but left him hungry. Shrimp Cocktail was enormous and icy cold, just right. Mashed potatoes tasted like they were out of a box. Waitress was excellent and on top of it!"

  • "We had a delicious meal, but it wasn't anything special or unique. The price tag was to be expected based on location and menu, but we were hoping for something a little more memorable. There are far more interesting places to dine in the area."

  • "We were looking forward to this restaurant but it didn't live up to our expectations although we had been to le bernadin the previous evening. Nothing special, basic seafood, nothing with the wow factor, Didn't cost a lot of money though."

  • "Attentive service, engaging wait staff and very good food. I would recommend a visit."

  • "The ambiance was awful, led by the blasting of Miley Cyrus music to what was pretty clearly a business crowd. Food was ok but nothing to return for."

  • "It was our gf' b/day and thought we would dine there. We tried the pre-fixed and they delivered; portions were great. Yes, we would definitely go dine there again."

  • "Very over priced, online menu prices were lower than in-house menu prices. I ordered lobster on the price fixed menu for $42.95 plus an additional $4.00 for the lobster. Nothing else came with the main course, no vegetable, just the lobster. If you wanted a vegetable, you had to order an additional side dish."

  • "We had a 6:30 reservation with 8:00 theatre tickets and they were terrific in keeping it all going. The food was all fine. It wasn't spectacular, but one isn't running in for a 90 minute meal and planning for something that's out of this world or once in a lifetime. You do that when all you're doing is dinner that night. That said, i'd definitely go back...it all works."

  • "Maitre'd looked at the schedule and barely acknowledged us, or welcomed us before summoning us to follow him to our table... Which was sandwiched in between two Short tables which were TOOClose together. We could hear everything our neighboring tables Were saying and could easily have eaten off their plates we were so Close. East Coast oysters were spectacular but the rubbery shrimp cocktail App on the Pre-Fixe menu were greatly disappointing as was the petite Filet Oscar with the blandest crabmeat sprinkled Around the limp asparagus. Desserts: key lime pie and bourbon pecan pie were standard and Doesn't live up to its promise."

  • "Shockingly poor restaurant. Food was goodly cooked. Forget the entree, how do you not cook broccoli right? How do you use powder for mash potatoes - because that's the only excuse for it not having any taste at all.."

  • "Our experience was fine. Great waitress, good menu but the food wasn't very good. I am a bit of a foodie and I dine at top steak and seafood restaurants all over. I chose this restaurant because of location to the theater and new my 14 year old likes steak and lobster. Our food was over cooked and dry. I ordered a New York Strip medium temp because typically at a high end steak house that is pink and juicy. Here it was gray and dry. I didn't have time to send it back and typically I don't send food back anyway. The lobster my daughter ordered was also over cooked. Instead of a tender sweet lobster it too was dry. All in all, it's a tourist restaurant that is average"

  • "Our Waitress and food were excellent. I believe that when you have 2 people with reservations waiting to be seated and the phone rings, you put the call on hold and have your staff seat the party standing there and then take the call. Also, when your customer asked for a booth and your restaurant is half empty, you shouldn't be seated at the smallest table in the place. This set a bad tone, but our waitress was wonderful and quickly changed our mood."

  • "We were in New York for a few days and caught a few shows and tried a different restaurant each night. Wh enjoyed City Lobster the most. The food was very good, especially for the price. The bouillabaisse was excellant as were the wines by the glass. My wife and I don't generally like the same wines so by the glass is important for us. The service was great. They were helpful, attentive but unobtrusive. We were allowed plenty of time to really enjoy our meal while making sure we had finished and paid our bit in plenty of time to make our show. Definitely would recommend for out of towners who are looking for a good dinner before a broadway show."

  • "This restaurant was welcoming and grand. A lovely lobster dinner was enjoyed from appetizers to dessert and coffee. The service was attentive. We were able to linger a while at our table and then be in the perfect location for our show."

  • "i totally enjoyed my lunch at this restaurant.. it was restaurant week when i went but they have specials all the time and the food is not only presented beautifully but it is delicious. Waiter was very very accomodating and pleasant but we couldnt find him when we needed to leave.. but other then that he really was great. it was just a spur of the moment lunch trying to get out of the office for lunch one day and i was so happy we picked this place."

  • "My experience overall was good. Slight disappointing that I had to return my twice for it to be cooked well done as I requested. I like how the waitress and manager handled the situation and because of error, the steak was on the house. My lady friend enjoyed her meal. The desert was great. I have already recommended the restaurant to several friends of mine."

  • "The food and service were very good. Ya' have to order lobster at a place called City Lobster and it did live up to its name with a very good broiled lobster and a very good lobster stuffed with crab. Cole slaw excellent, but spinach just bleh"

  • "I was really surprised that the lobster in my lobster salad was not good at all. It was dry, tasteless, and seemed days old. Come on, Citi Lobster, the one thing you should get right on the menu is LOBSTER! My waitperson made up for the mediocre food, however, by being quite nice and very helpful."

  • "We had a nice dinner. The entree I ordered wasn't spectacular, but it wasn't bad either. Thanks for serving NA beer."

  • "When you incorporate the word "Lobster" in your restaurant name, you would think that would be the star of the menu. I ordered a surf and turf. 10 oz NY strip and a lobster tail. The tail was small, and very dry. It had absolutely no flavor to it. The bartender was great. Nice cut of meat, but nothing special on the flavor."

  • "I met an old friend and we ate and drank everything in sight, the waiter was outstanding, the sound level was refreshingly low for NYC, and we had a great time. I always love it here !"

  • "This restaurant is my go-to place when dining in the theater district. The food and service is consistently good, and the atmosphere is friendly."

  • "It was ok, pretty limited selection. Can't really pick n choose what comes with the fish so you may like the fish, but not the accompaniment. Had the tuna in soy and chilean sea bass, again average portions for the price. Service was a bit cold but efficient, with so many places to try I wont be back, but if you end up there its ok"

  • "It was my Girl Friend's Birthday and my first time as well, the waitress was great, the atmosphere was perfect for the night. The wine was nice and I don't drink much, The food made the night perfect, our choices we've made our night complete. Yes we will be back. Brownie Points for me!.... Steven"

  • "I've been to this restaurant before and this was one of the nicer experiences I had. Our server was very attentive without being too overbearing. She allowed my friends and I to enjoy our meal without feelnig rushed. The angry lobster was divine! The other dishes we ordered were the salmon and two different steak offerings. Everything was great and I also enjoyed the $1 oysters with happy hour!"

  • "From the maitre de's greeting and difficulty finding us a table that we asked for, to the waitperson's diffidence, the service was way below par. And the food was just OK. The oysters were good, not great, we requested a steak without the Bernaise and the sauce was smeared on it, the scallops were nearly drowning in butter. Not rushing back--that's for sure."

  • "Great food... lovely setting. convenient to theater. Highly recommend. Oysters at the bar all day for 99 cents each. Who could go wrong."

  • "I was traveling to NYC for the day and wanted a fine dining experience for a special occasion. I picked this restaurant based on the online menu, and the proximity to the studio that we were visiting for the afternoon. They exceeded all expectations in terms of food, service and ambience. I would highly recommend, and we will definitely return there the next time we are traveling to the city."

  • "We enjoyed our meal - we went during restaurant week but ordered from the regular menu. My scallops were tender and tasty. Our favorite was the onion rings - they were hot and tasted fantastic! I'd go back just for them."

  • "Showed up 10 minutes early for our reservation and could barely walk in the door as the entrance to the restaurant was overly crowded. We went up to the host and was told that we will have to wait as there are no tables yet. We waited for a while in the middle of a crowd until we got claustrophobic and decided to leave. Extremely disappointing for a supposedly classy restaurant. It felt like I was in Applebees."
