  • "Food was good, company was great, had to wait for our server too long."

  • "A good friend introduced me this week to City Kitchen and I have returned already. The ambience is excellent, food is excellent, and wait staff service is superior. A+ on all counts."

  • "I really enjoyed my lunch, but our waitress was a little slow! We were there over an hour before we were given our bill."

  • "Went out for my birthday, and it was fabulous! Fried green tomato appetizer was delicious, and my steak was cooked perfectly. The chef does really flavorful things with classic american dishes. The drinks were great, too--highly recommend the pimms!"

  • "We are pleased to see that there are many tempting choices on the dinner menu. We had an outstanding server named William...very knowledgeable about food and wine. There are special wine values during the week."

  • "The exceptional service and food makes this restaurant perfect for special occasions."

  • "Went with a large group and was not impressed. Returned with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. The mussels were terrific. The special salad with grouper was artfully dressed, light, and creative to include goat cheese, blueberries ans strawberries. Will certainly return."

  • "Great and interesting food -- variety of different choices that were delicious and great service."

  • "We were a party of four, and we each enjoyed what we ordered. The seared scallops and the pecan crisp was especially good."

  • "Unexpectedly, I had the best tuna I have ever eaten at City Kitchen. It was a special, so I'm not sure how often it's on the menu, but it was perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked and butter soft. Yummy. I also tried the butter lettuce salad, which was nicely dressed with a lovely citrus vinegarette. The goat cheese mousse needs to go, as do the mushy golden beets. Goat cheese crumbles and some sort of fruit would be better, albeit more predictable, choices to accompany the lovely lettuce. I know esoteric mousses and foams are a "thing" but they are pretentious and unnecessary."

  • "My wife and I went to City Kitchen for our wedding anniversary. I had made reservations and the staff went above and beyond as far as the service and the table that was reserved for us."

  • "Everything was very good except that one person'a food came out 25 minutes later than everyone else's with very little apology. It was awkward."

  • "My family went to City Kitchen for Father's Day Brunch, and it was fantastic! I had steak and eggs, plus the huge salad bar. The salad bar isn't your usual lettuce + toppings, but rather a wide variety of lettuce- and grain-based prepared salads, along with marinated veggies, Caprese, pita chips with dips and fresh fruit. My eggs were perfectly over easy, and the steak, which I opted for in lieu of bacon or sausage, was a lovely 3-4 oz portion of hangar steak that came out exactly medium rare an well seasoned. We had 5 adults, a 5-year-old, 2-year-old and an infant. Older kids split kids brunch, and service was fast enough to keep them entertained. I look forward to trying Chef's food at Fire in the Triangle! (competitiondining.com)"

  • "We had a great dinner at City Kitchen. They forgot to bring our appetizer but promised us complimentary ones when we come next time. Very good dinner."

  • "If you are expecting your typically casual dining experience then you will be pleasantly surprised. There's nothing typical about this restaurant. Whether it be the wide range of menu items ranging from pizza to authentic sushi (my favorite). It also boast an excellent beer, wine & champagne selection. If you love great food then this is the place for you."

  • "I love City Kitchen because it starts the meal off with delicious bread and my all-time favorite food: kalamata olive tapenade! The new cheesecake with mango and blood orange is probably the best dessert I've ever had in any restaurant (I can't remember anything better)."

  • "We ate here twice while visiting our son. The short ribs were the best I've ever had...ever! Had to force myself to get something else the second night, and the filet and sushi did not disappoint, especially the off the menu sushi. Could have skipped the strawberry Bavarian, but the Chocolate dessert was outrageously delicious! Thank you for 2 fabulous meals"

  • "We just dined at City Kitchen and we were pleasantly surprised. We had eaten here once before during prom night, and the service was quite disastrous that night. But, on a quiet Sunday night during Restaurant Week, we had a great time. Fantastic service, great heirloom tomato salad and desserts. I had the homemade vegetable fettucini dish, and though the pasta itself was amazing, I do not favor oil sauces. Still, it was pretty good. My wife's fish dish was not so great though. It was really pleasant sitting outside. We tend to dislike nice restaurants in malls or plazas, but I'd say City Kitchen is pretty decent and I'd recommend it."

  • "Awesome meal. Great service. Loved the Atlantic Salmon with bok choy in a coconut curry sauce. My husband had trout and he loved it as well."

  • " Yuk! the place was packed with cackling women!!! We finally moved outside where it was much too warm, but at least we could hear ourselves think. In the future I will only eat in the bar or outside. Love the food! Our server was most gracious!"

  • "I'm trying to remember the last time I had food this good in the triangle-so delicious! Fettuccine was perfect, as was the shrimp appetizer and cheesecake dessert. Specialty cocktails are a must. Yum!"

  • "We ate there on a recent Saturday. The appetizers and main courses that we had were good but not outstanding. The dessert offerings were really not appealing but the waiter told us they were going to revamp the dessert offerings. We did get the dessert special but it was not very good."

  • "The quality of the brunch buffet has gone down over the past year. It's still fine however this time there were many different variations of broccoli and carrots, prepared various ways. I believe there used to be much more. The entrees were strong, however, the buffet was disappointing this time. We will likely not be back for brunch. "

  • "Visited Chapel Hill to see family and went to City Kitchen for Sun brunch. It's a beautiful place and the food's very good - a good selection for young and old. I really liked their take on Shrimp & Grits, a little different than most I've tried. My wife got the salmon and loved it and our kids each found something from the kids menu that they liked. Will definitely come back. "

  • "My family and I had a very enjoyable early evening dinner. Our meals were superb. Our waiter Chris was knowledgeable on the wine and food menu and the patio seating we had was filled with live vegetation that blocked the parking lot and traffic from our view without making us feel like we were enclosed. The noise level was quiet because the tables were arranged with privacy in mind. Our appetizer, the Market Charcuterie Platter of various meats condiments and grilled bread was presented very well. My Surf and Turf of a large scallop, two shrimp and a fillet was done perfectly. My husband had the 48-hour braised short ribs and my son had the pork loin. We would all recommend any of these selections. The desserts are also recommended."

  • "As ever, the food and service are excellent! We brought out of town guests with us and they plan to visit CK again when in town. They loved the food, the variety of options and the atmosphere. Sam, our wonderful waiter, was superb! "

  • "Recently had the opportunity to dine here for lunch. Busy, a little noisy but tolerable, great food and service. Had very tasty but slightly small crab cakes. Also had a group of 20 for dinner here about a month ago. They handled this group effortlessly--excellent service, no problem keeping it straight who had what and who was paying for what. Highly recommend. They can seat a large group in the "wine storage room" which really isn't a room, but is a slightly separate space behind the bar. "

  • "We had a great brunch on Mother's Day and UNC/Duke graduation weekend. Food was delicious with lots of variety - salads; entrees, some breakfast items, and desserts. There were 6 in our party and no one was disappointed in anything. Service was very attentive. We were seated outside which was quieter and made conversation with all in the party easier, but it got a bit warm in the sun. Staff did what they could to position umbrellas to keep us shaded. My only recommendation would be to specify where you want to be seated if this is important to you (there is also a second level that requires up and down stairs to get to food) At $35 for brunch + $16 for Mimosa (all you wanted), it wasn't inexpensive, but ok for a special occasion."

  • "Went for Mother's Day and Graduation Brunch. As expected, very crowded. Staff very accommodating and friendly. Allowed change of time of reservation and put us inside instead of outside on patio. However, crowd overtaxed AC, it was like a sauna upstairs. Food buffet line was running backwards and very long and food quality was like that on cruise ship buffet. Drinks were very good (Bloody Mary's) and reasonably priced. However cost for buffet was 35 per person plus an automatic 20%tip. Definitely way overpriced for both the food quality and service. It may be a good place on normal days but would never recommend for a similar occasion."

  • "Had a great lunch for four. Wonderful appetizers including good fried calamari, deviled eggs and excellent wok fried ribs. Entrees included lemon linguine with shrimp (fresh with spicy tomato and fresh spinach in the sauce). Pizza was a good flat bread style crust with fresh ingredients. Our grown boys both had sandwiches which they quickly devoured and applauded for taste."

  • "Walking in from the mall parking lot, I had no idea what was waiting behind the door. The restaurant is beautiful in a modern kind of way. The high ceilings were fabulous. The way the restaurant was divided into sections with half walls made the dining areas feel more intimate. There were six in our party, but we could easily talk with everyone at the table The food was out of this world. I had the portobello mushroom grilled sandwich with a slight modification--I'm not a fan of goat cheese, so they put a pesto spread on it instead of the goat cheese spread described on the menu. I will definitely return!"

  • "The staff and the food were both exceptional. We went at a relatively quiet time (lunch the day before Mother's Day). The space had been previously occupied by a restaurant called Spice Street, which was good but the wife remarked that she preferred the food at the City Kitchen. My meal was excellent. We might have had a little atmosphere bias because Kathy didn't think that her boys were going to be able to come home from college to be celebrate Mother's Day this year. Nevertheless, it was a great place to celebrate a special occasion together."

  • "And I didn't order it!! What was I thinking?? My omelet was pretty darn fantastic, but the grilled cheese really is the best. Don't miss it! The chicken skewer was also pretty special. Jesse was a great server too."
