City HouseWe had a great Mother's DayWe had a great Mother's Day meal. My wife loved the DMQ chicken with Alabama white sauce.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was delicious-waiterEverything was delicious-waiter was attentive. Even though menu items sounded very "different" it was all great!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe client was impressed!I took a client to dinner here - the menu really delivered, the service was attentive without being annoying and the setting was amazing!
Keep up the great work!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMHappy anniversary to usMy husband and I have only been to City House 4n times. Each time it gets better -soon wish we lived closer and could visit more often. The waiters are educated and eloquent. The food is delicious. The environment is cool. We will keep comjng back. Thanks again.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Barbuzzo of NashvilleThis reminded me of Barbuzzo in Philadelphia. Menu was so innovative that I had to ask what a few things were on it (Tesa is a kind of belly bacon). We had a potato and cheese frico, a pizza, and fettucine with a delicious lemony sauce on it. The dessert was also excellent (cream soda cake). We paired it with a bottle of barbera d'asti which was reasonably priced. I would go again.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMQuite honestly...When we made this reservation, it was based on good reviews and that it was rated one of Nashville's top ten. Excited to celebrate a conclusion to the college year, we were excited to try it out. We were in the midst of a lot of activities up until our reservation. We had to increase the number in our party, so then the restaurant insisted we guarantee our meal with a credit card. What made the whole issue so much more difficult was the fact that the restaurant didn't directly answer their phone. I could only leave messages, so to accomplish this whole change in the midst of all our activities that day we continued to play phone tag and it was so frustrating that it left a sour taste in my mouth before arriving.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AM5+++ stars!Very cool design and ambience. Interesting and varied menu and wine list. The service was excellent. The food was amazing - every bite was unbelievable and we didn't want the meal to end. And it was very reasonably priced. We'll be back soon and often!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a great dinner here withHad a great dinner here with my wife. Vibrant atmosphere and the food was unique and delicious. I'd recommend the octopus appetizer. The cocktails were also great. We were visiting Nashville for the weekend and would return here the next time we are in town. I'd recommend you try this restaurant out if you are visiting and would like to have a neat dinning experience.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding service and recommendatOutstanding service and recommendations from the server. We had lots of questions and he was very patient with us. Food was incredible, different, fresh, and interesting. We would go back in a heartbeat! Dessert is a must!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMCity House is one of the bestCity House is one of the best restaurants I've tried, not just in Nashville.
The menu is so inventive. I didn't even realize I liked some of the foods that are put together in those dishes!
I will definitely go back.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it. We were there earlyLoved it. We were there early on a Wed and the place was kinda empty... but our service was great / food outstanding, esp the octopus starter and the trout. Great drinks! I'd definitely recommend! The vibe and style of food reminded me of my favorite place in Chicago Nightwood.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMCity House never ceases toCity House never ceases to amaze. The flavors of the food and the staff recommendations are always top notch. The drinks are always a step up from the usual so I like to try new things when taking in a spirit.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent meal and outstandingExcellent meal and outstanding service. We broughtAnother great meal. We brought an out-of-town guest, and she thought everything was excellent, from the octopus salad to the chicken entree. Our favorite restaurant in Nashville (or anywhere else, for that matter)!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service, fun atmosphere,Excellent service, fun atmosphere, even for a Sunday night. A great neighborhood find. OpenTable, however, didn't have reservations until 8:30 but the place was only half full at 7:30 and we were seated right away so I suggest calling directly! We had a lovely time, nice cocktails, always good.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMCity House Sunday Dinner, the Best!Had a fantastic Sunday dinner at City House! The menu is certainly different on Sundays but this was an amazing dining experience. We sampled a number of different dishes and each one was wonderful. The liver was quite good; the popcorn was a nice surprise. The chicken wings were really outstanding. You wouldn't think chicken wings could be that remarkable, but they were so well executed, we are still talking about them. Also tried a couple of really good pizzas, especially the potato and red onion. If you haven't tried City House, you simply have to go. This is one of the best places in town.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe pizza is a must. We gotThe pizza is a must. We got one as an appetizer to snack on before the main course. The cocktails are fantastic, interesting twists on some old classics. It's a small menu, but that just means that every item is a great choice.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat, but don't forget the beerThe only complaint I have for City House is that the beer list is small and narrow. Almost all the same type of beer and just very limited. Get just one or two local drafts and it will the perfect way to round out a great drink selection.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBrilliant.Love City House. Creative dishes. Great vibe. Great drink selection. This little Italian based restaurant does everything right. The only thing that held me back on a 5 was the service this time. Our waitress seemed a little robotic and out of it. Could have been just an off night and probably was. Other then that. A must go if you're in the Nashville area.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed great food in thisWe enjoyed great food in this interesting, historic building. Although the menu is limited, there are enough amazing choices for everyone. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, their drink menu is great. If you like gin, try a N
Juno.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMMy best friend was in townMy best friend was in town visiting, so I booked a Monday night reservation for us. We sat in the center room near the open kitchen. It was busy but not crowded. Our server was very helpful, and took the time to answer our (many) questions. Everything that we ordered was delicious. We got the Frico appetizer, an order of the Tri Tips with a side of grits, an order of the Fettucine with sweet potato and a side of succotash, and for dessert we tried both the butterscotch pie and the caramel espresso cake. Everything was SO good. I had the Juno cocktail, which was the perfect mix of gin and grapefruit. It was perfect for a low-key lady date, but would also be excellent for a romantic get-together with your significant other.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love City House and everyWe love City House and every time we go we are very pleased with the friendliness, food, wine, and overall experience. Chef Tandy Wilson shows why he is a James Beard finalist and the service was amazing.

Would highly recommend for those looking for a unique experience.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been to City HouseI have been to City House twice and have been blown away both times. I brought a bona fide foodie with me this past time, and he was just as impressed as I was. We tried the octopus, which was a first for me, and it was one of the best things I have ever eaten. The service was attentive without being cloying, and while the restaurant was crowded and a little noisy, it still felt like an intimate experience. I will definitely be coming back!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGame onThe meat arts are not dead at City House. As demand for the classics go up Cityhouse delivers with the classical edge and a new flavor.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service. WhiteExcellent service. White bean soup very nice; ample quantity. NC trout excellent. Tri Tips should have been served on a heated plate; otherwise they were quite good--tender and perfectly cooked. Yukon potatoes overwhelmed by the celery. Frico was tasty but the portion was larger than I would have liked. More salad choices would have been welcome.
It was our first visit. Will definitely return.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways great and interestingAlways great and interesting food. Sit at the pizza bar for a show with your dinner.
Staff is knowledgeable and attentive.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMa truly memorable experienceThis place is amazing!!! We visited Nashville from Vermont and this was one of our highly anticipated meals. The menu is very inventive, the space and ambience is incredibly unique and very Nashville, the drinks were so amazing (I had an elmer t lee cocktail served with apricots in a mason jar...it made me miss living in the south), and the service was both highly efficient and friendly. My boyfriend is a chef and we have been contemplating a move to Nashville, and this singular restaurant experience solidified the expediting this move. This restaurant helps define the city's restaurant scene and it really transforms the unique neighborhood (German Town) that it is located in.
Also, two works: octopus pizza (one more, YUM)3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is always excellent. The food is always excellent. The servers are always knowledgeable about the menu, helpful, and nice. The main floor dining room is noisy, but the bar and upper dining room are quieter. The prices are lower than other comparable quality restaurants. We dine there frequently and have never been disappointed!3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOne sentence: lay off theOne sentence: lay off the salt! Perhaps we went wrong with choosing an entree over a pizza or pasta (which I should note is what everyone else around us seemed to be getting), but I was unimpressed by my half chicken. On the pro side, the skin was super crispy, and the portion quite large. But the thing was so salty I felt like I had just thrown back an entire cupful of iodized salt. Blech. Also, for an upscale place like City House I was surprised we got to choose our side item. Shouldn't that be the chef's choice? Something that pairs well with the protein?
Otherwise, the service was great and out waitress lovely!1/24/2013 12:00:00 AMCity House is the only realCity House is the only real authentic, Italian/Agrarian restaurant in nashville. The best authentic Neapolitan pizza, the best Chicken dish, steak dish and fish dishes.
Do yourself a favor and try it if you have not.12/19/2012 12:00:00 AMCity House does a fantasticCity House does a fantastic job with a very eclectic Italian based cuisine with a Southern twist.
We had the soup, kale salad, pizza, and the chicken and all were perfect. It is the most authentic, thin crust Italian pizza in NAshville. Chicken is cooked in the wood burning oven and it is incredible.
Service is always attentive and knowledgable.
True foodie destination.11/23/2012 12:00:00 AMNever DisappointsCity House never disappoints. The food is AMAZING, and the wine list is quite extensive. Depending on what you get, it can be under $50 for a couple. MUST TRY!1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
