Wonderful night and food. However, when we walked in we asked if we could be seated on the porch because there were 3 open tables. Instead we were told they were for walk-ins only. The accommodation of the host would have been nice. Otherwise, great experience.

Fresh. Vibrant. Flavorful. Delicious contrasts. Soup was incredible. Pizza as good as my Italian father-in-laws. And you have to be real confident to have cookies on your dessert menu. Everything was over the top and reasonable priced.

My wife and I dined there a night that the power was going on and off and the AC was down (all because of a storm). We initially were seated inside where it was hot and stuffy due to no AC, but our kind waitress offered to move us to the covered patio that had fans. The patio was super comfortable and had great ambiance! The belly ham pizza was delicious, and the cornbread gnocchi was tasty too. All in all a great night, and our server who moved us to the patio saved it!

It was unfortunate that just as we gave our orders there was a clap of thunder and the power went out. It came back in a minute but unfortunately the ac did not. So it got very warm and smokey as they have an open wood fire. My wife ordered their special which was lamb and goat and the meat was very tough. With the concrete walls sound reverberates so it was difficult to have a conversation. We may try them at lunch just to see if things can be better.

We ordered appetizer, octopus and soup, both were delicious. The soup bowl was a generous helping. For dinner, the pizza, trout and catfish all wonderful size portions to share. We did have gelato and sherbet for dessert, a must try. We had an early reservation, I felt the wait staff may have wanted to rush us for the next seating. That would be m only negative comment about the restaurant. We will definitely return.

My reservation was one of the first of the night, so when we arrived the dining room was practically empty. We were sat in a noisy area and asked to be moved to the quieter dining room upstairs; we were told that it was going to be busy later and those tables were being reserved for parties of 3 or more. We insisted on being moved and they finally complied by moving us but letting us know they needed our table by 7 (which gave us plenty of time to eat as a 2-top but was extremely rude to say to us). Our server was very friendly and knowledgable. The food was pretty good, but it wasn't anything exciting. I really wanted to love this place but after coming here once, I don't see myself returning.

A glorified pizza joint which is hard to find. After several tries, found it and then we were put in a tiny corner (hard against the brick wall) with no room to move your arms. I asked to move and then was shown a more appropriate table. When I requested a table outside, I was told that those tables were for walk-ins. My trout was good. vegetables very ordinary. My companion chuck steak which was tough, tasteless and cold. The accompanying grits tasted like cream of wheat with a little cheese on top. In addition, the restaurant was so loud and noisy it was difficult to hear my companion immediately across the table from me. I would definitely not recommend this restaurant to many people; only those interested in a pizza restaurant.

The first time I went to City House, I loved it. I came back this time and had a horrible experience. One person on your staff in particular was rude and condescending, in retrospect we should have left before ordering dinner. It's not good policy to assume you know more than your customers about wine or food and then proceed to insult them. I don't think I'll be going back, there are other places with great food in Nashville with better manners.

We were in from out of town (Northern California - land of wine and foodies) and a waiter from another restaurant suggested City House. It was beyond our expectations. The homemade sausage was perhaps the best I've ever had. The pizza special was delicious and the panda cotta dessert was awesome. We wish we had time to go again before we leave town. We ate at the bar which was great, it was quieter and the bartender gave us great recommendations and service.

My husband and I visited here from Brooklyn and we are really into food. Coming in out of the pouring rain, I was awed by the warmth of the place. The large room is beautiful but noisy, so luckily we were seated upstairs in a much smaller room that was quiet. We enjoyed everything we ate and our waitress was extremely friendly (from Brooklyn!) and helpful. We loved eating here and would come back for sure.

A visit City House is always a tasty joy. The trout with raisins is ever a revelation, bright and earthy. Another guest at our table had catfish and was delighted. Tandy sources the best chicken in town and the current presentation with chili is an homage to Nashville's hot chickens --and far healthier. A perfect way to begin meals at City House is to split a cold vegetable salad with another guest. Or throw caution to the wind and eat the magnificently decadent frico--hot cheese and potato--and these days tucked beneath some perfect vegetable. I sometimes splurge and order an extra side. Tandy coaxes exceptional flavor out of his veg--but my go to close to a City House meal is the perfect plate of cookies that can easily be shared.

Once we found City House (a little hidden with the trees) we realized we were in for the treat we expected. The server was so knowledgable and gave great advice about food and wine parings. Thought the vegetables were outstanding, but the trout I had was terrific as well. Highly recommended.

Excellent food in a atmosphere with a hip vibe. City House is hard to find. We drove by it three times until we finally asked someone on the street to give us directions. Yes, I was with my husband. The menu is small with hard to understand names for nearly every item. Even after the server explained what each item is (it's a small menu) we had no clue what we would get and ordered on faith. We were not disappointed. We shared small plates style. Started off with a cheesy tomatoe-y pancake thing. Yummmm. Next had a ground pork loaf slice that was fried. Beyond Yummmm!!! There was something unidentifiable in the flavor and I found out it was the crispy pork skin. Don't miss this dish. Also had the trout done to perfection. Go, enjoy!

We heard about the city house restaurant while watching the travel channel. When we were in Nashville in July, we knew we wanted to dine at the city house. We ordered some of the dishes that were featured on the travel channel, Gnocchi, Octopus salad, homemade sausage, pizza and almond pound cake. Everything was delicious and fresh and exceeded our expectations. The service was excellent and would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Unique place in an up and coming neighborhood. People obviously come for the food and not the décor. Loved the food and simple preparations that allowed the freshness to come thru. Wait staff are all friendly and into the food that they serve. Only issue we had is we sat on the screened porch and the fans are like sitting in a wind storm! They are too close to the table and do not have multiple settings. We were the last table and asked for the fans to be turned off but management said NO! Kind of spoiled a nice evening.

Should have trusted my instincts and ordered something other than the chuck steak. No one and no amount of wostershire can make that cut of meat taste like anything but what it is.. suitable for roasting with carrots and onions only. Not pleased at all. Others at the table enjoyed their selections but I did not enjoy mine in the least. The room we were placed in was extremely loud and a bit stuffy. Not a very enjoyable evening for me, but fortunately my guests were not quite as unhappy. The only thing I could recommend was our very knowledgeable and attentive waiter.

Lucky enough to snag an early reservation last Friday evening. Had the venerable Belly Ham pizza & one with anchovies. Both were stellar. Appetizer of corn, kohlrabi, and a pickle dressing that was remarkably simple & scrumptious. Dessert was one of Rebekah's menu mainstays - Almond Ricotta Pound cake w/ lemon ricotta gelato & a housemade lemon marmalade. This was startlelingy good... testament to why she's the best pastry chef in Nashville. Ryan - our server - was once again friendly, helpful, and a pleasure all around. Can't recommend this place enough!

We were greeted then told to step inside to wait just "a minute" before we would be taken to table "42" but then ignored while we waited for 20 minutes. They then asked who we were and I reintroduced us while they then told us we would have to wait another half hour. I protested a bit and they then sent us to the afore mentioned table "42." Unprofessional and didn't build a great experience for us.

Was a bit disappointed with City House. First parking - most places downtown or Germantown have complimentary valet. This was street parking which we found but still. Then it is was so loud. I mean screaming loud. Then the service was pretty poor. Not the waiters fault but just way too few people on staff. Food would come super fast then super slow. Coffees came about 15 minutes before dessert. Just not well done. Food was pretty good though. Would come back for a casual weeknight pizza but not worthy of a weekend dinner.
