Diner Reviews
  • "unusually crowded and rushed this night. Usually a bit quieter and thus more relaxing!"

  • "After reading all the reviews I expected an amazing experience but was a little disappointed. We arrived for brunch and the restaurant was empty so there wasn't much ambiance. I ordered the Grand Manier French toast which was delicious but it didn't taste like Grand Manier. My friends ordered Eggs Benedict, crab cakes and pastrami sandwich and all were ok but nothing special. It was just an ok experience."

  • "It was disappointing to say the least. I have been to City Hall many times. I love your fried chicken. It is the best in town, but Saturday night and it was a disaster. They served me late after everyone in my table was almost finished with their meal. It was not crispy, the breast did not have any breading. In short it was really disappointing"

  • "Service was a slow start, but improved quickly. Only real complaint is the prices for the quality of food. This is a beer and wings place with a little ambiance. The high prices don't make it. Will not repeat."

  • "I was excited to try City Hall. Our server was great, however the food was not good. Ordered the wings & mussels for appys and those were tasty but one of the bussers came over while, I kid you not, there was about half of each left and asked if we were finished and he could clear it. We had just rec'd it maybe 5-7 min prior. My Cobb style salad contained only all iceberg drowned in dressing, 3 shrimp and one egg cut in half. None of the other things it was supposed to have. I tried it bc I'm really not super picky food wise but it was flavorless. Our waiter was great and brought me a mixed greens salad instead. The mac & cheese was underwhelming and contained too much maple, which I already had in the bigger. You need a new Exec Chef. :("

  • "Every substitution because of dietary reasons, was additional charge, even if substituted item was cheaper on menu. Waitress literally threw food at us, never came back to see if everything was ok. I asked another server for ketchup. I never got it ,nor salad dressing.Bread crumbs were all over table, but never cleaned up.Waitress plopped bill down on top of the mess.No supervision to make sure customers are satisfied."

  • "We stumbled upon City Hall because it was within walking distance from our hotel (The DoubleTree Grand). My husband and I had the duck confit pizza as an appetizer and it was great--not greasy or too fatty and a really tasty combination of savory and sweet. My chicken limonata was really good and I appreciated that the pasta was fresh. My husband had the meatloaf, which he loved. The maple bacon mac and cheese that accompanied it was also great. The next day, we came back with my colleagues from work. The service was great both days and they had no problems splitting the check amongst seven people which we really appreciated because we know what a pain it can be for a server to have to do this."

  • "Great food variety with wonderful musical ambiance in form of Gospel power house Maryel Epps!"

  • "My family and I went to celebrate my mother's retirement. Choosing City Hall: One of the best decisions of the week. The staff greeted us, were very attentive the whole night, and engaged us in a way that felt genuine. The Bread. How much space do I have to write about this place? Because the bread deserves its own post. That maple butter: no words can describe the deliciousness that is the maple butter. The drinks were superb, One of the best crab cakes I ever had alongside an amazing corn salad that took the appetizer to the next level. The entrees are equally tasteful and filling. I had the steak: superb. My mother and sister had the shrimp and grits: awesome (I had to taste some). Like the title says, I will definitely be returning."

  • "Great food (awesome wedge salad, Caesar salad, grilled scallops and shrimp&grits.) Terrific bar and table service. The owner came by to welcome us and make sure everything was perfect. Reasonable prices and a great experience; what's not to like about that? I'll be back!"

  • "I ordered the shrimp and grits i was in heaven. They serve you warm bread with pecan butter delightful I would love to visit this restaurant at lease twice per month. The permit cocktail was awesome also"

  • "We were there 15 minutes before reservations they sat us down immediately, in a nice corner both. I had made specific requests on our open table reservations and they fulfilled all of them exceptionally well. We were impressed with speed of service, quality of food, and variety in menu. Definitely will do again!"

  • "Have been at City Hall on various occassions and the food and service never dissapoints. Brunch is a treat with Mariel the singer that charms everyone with her voice and great presence. We recommend it for everyone hoping to have a good meal and nice time. Crab benedict, tuna tartar and the french toast are amazing."

  • "Quality comfort food, went 20 minutes after start of game - place was fairly empty and servers delivered wonderful food and service"

  • "The service and the ambiance is not bad, but the food left a lot to be desired! The menu is pretentious and doesn't quite make the grade and is overpriced ! We are foodies and were dissapointed"

  • "One is never disappointed at City Hall. Whether it's for a quick weeknight dinner / before or after a show at the Arscht or a Game at the AAA -- it's "easy in / easy out" with great food; fantastic service and a very reasonable price. This restaruant is perfect for a 45 minute "Power Lunch"; or a Leisurely Sunday Brunch, and one of the best spots to meet up with friends for Happy Hour, Dinner or even Dessert (Bread Pudding!) after the show. Adults / Kids / they cater to all and I can't imagine leaving there unsatisfied. Continued Success to this irreplacable neighborhood gem that I drive 15 minutes OUT of MY neighorhood to patronise!"

  • "perfect for our late night dinner after theatre as it was the closest restaurant open to the Arsht center."
    Dined on 3/7/2014
  • "Back again and as usual, the food was outstanding. Brought two friends and my wife this time for a pre-theatre meal. Place was jammed (pre-theatre). I have had this problem here before, the service. It was quite inattentive and thus slow. The fried chicken was not cooked through and had to be sent back....They still charged m friend. Hmmm.."

  • "We wanted a place close to the Miami Hilton on Biscayne for dinner the evening before a cruise departure This place was recommended at the hotel and did not disappoint. It maybe a three block walk. Very imaginative salads and great menu choices. My wife had sautéed shrimp and I had a seafood stew and neither was run of the mill fare. Salads were first rate and our server was very helpful and showed us just the right amount of attention. Highly recommend this place"

  • "A very yummy brunch was marred by an incompetent waiter. The extremely poor service was especially galling considering the 20% service charge automatically added to the bill."

  • "Located conveniently near Arsht Theater. Enjoyed drinks and light meals before theater. Perfect!"

  • "I am a lover of meatloaf and of bread pudding, so seeing that several reviewers had praised both dishes I was really looking forward to tasting them at City Hall. I found the meatloaf kind of soft and bland, aside from the ketchup topping and side gravy, both of which were too sweet/strong for me. I would have preferred the meatloaf itself to be more flavorful. We had to wait quite a while for the bread pudding to arrive. The serving was large, but for $10 the chocolate chips seemed rather few and far between and the pudding itself was bland. It would have been better with some/more vanilla, cinnamon and more chocolate. I was very disappointed with the food. The noise level was very high, but did quiet down as people left around 7:30 p.m."

  • "I live in the hood and definitely will be back. It's good "comfort food" with a gourmet twist. Dark woods, retro feel yet still modern. Everyone was friendly."

  • "Or any other time! Food was DELICIOUS! Fast, friendly service. Gets very busy. Make reservations!"
    Dined on 2/20/2014
  • "Good quality food, but service lacking, as I had to get servers attention to get service frequently, despite less than 50% capacity and lots of servers standing around. This is an above average establishment, but not in top 10% in Miami, as it was listed on several review sites."

  • "Every time I'm in Miami I eat at City Hall at least once during my stay. Great food and always great service."

  • "They have a little bit of everything on this menu. Good portion size. We sat upstairs and it was a bit noisy as there were several large parties"

  • "Went for a special dark valentine event. It was a great experience for a great cause. Eating in the dark without being able to see anything is something everyone should experience. I'm a very picky eater so I was not very happy with the course options they chose for this event. I love dessert and wine so these were my favorite."

  • "Everyone here was so welcoming and nice, it really made a great impression the food was delicious. Came for dark dining and was a amazing experience would definitely come again. I made reservations and was seated right on time. Loved the staff very attentive."

  • "I truly enjoyed the dining experience on Valentines day. The staff was beautiful and fun. The date with my wife was an amazing exoerience.and the City Hall was the backdrop to my romantic evening. As I walked hrough the door, I was a little concerned about the noise, but I immediqtely began to gel with the vibe. I soon realized that I bgan to add to the noise with my heartfelt laughs. The food for the dining was good. I wish the foods eaten were revealed at the end when the check comes. It would have been interesting to know what I consumed. I look foward to visiting again"

  • "Good place to go before a show at the arsht center."
    Dined on 2/12/2014
  • "I meet a friend here for drinks and appetizers or dinner about once a quarter. The volume in the space (from people, music, TVs) is getting to the point that it's hard to hear across their large tables. The servers are oddly aloof and the food is overpriced for the quality; although the pre-theater menu and prix-fixe menu are better priced. I think we'll change to a new restaurant for our next quarterly meal."

  • "We took my mother to the Gospel Brunch for her 86th Birthday, and we all had a ball. I only wish the singer lasted longer, she is fabulous, the food was great, the service was wonderful, I highly recommend it.."

  • "Good food but too noisy to enjoy; table next to front door too hot and busy."
    Dined on 2/5/2014
  • "Substandard pub-like fare in a noisy, phony supper-club, sports-bar environment. Everything almost looks good but isn't quite right - the food and the decor. To be avoided."
