City CafeVery enjoyable experience.Very enjoyable experience. Free valet parking is a big plus!!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent as usual. The softExcellent as usual. The soft crab special was especially good. A great place to go before going to the Lyric or Meyerhoff.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the City CafeAbsolutely love the City Cafe. It never disappoints. The food is always wonderful and fresh. It's hard to pick one favorite; but the Fried Green Tomatoes with Lump Crab are certainly in the running for my top pick. Also, the scallops at City Cafe are amazing! The staff is also super friendly and helpful. They happily accomadated our request for first floor dining since one of our party could not navigate steps.
I will definitely be returning to try new dishes as well as my favorites!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat fun!I love that we can't go wrong with City Café ... we went on a busy Saturday night with friends who had never been for dinner there (they were very pleased!). Everyone commented on how great the menu is - plenty of options without being the least bit overwhelming (everything on one page). Service was efficient and professional. Dishes were well presented and delicious .. Although none of us are vegans, two ordered the vegan dish - it was terrific. Salads were a good size, very fresh, perfectly dressed. No complaints. Can't wait to go back.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOnce again dinner was delicious...Once again dinner was delicious and the service was excellent! What more can you ask for? City Cafe never disappoints us. The menu continues to be updated with new and exciting offerings and the servers are always pleasant and attentive. This is certainly our 'go to' restaurant. Thank you to Bruce and Gino for keeping such high standards.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Monday Nite Steak Special Hit!What luck that we came on a Monday night for dinner. I forgot about about the steak special. I had a perfect filet mignon . My companion had the hanger steak. She loved it, too. Our go-withs went well and were prepared with much thought. Of course, we'll be back.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMy visitI had the crab cake sandwich and everything was fresh; from the salsa and chips to the tartar sauce. My son had a mushroom burger with cheese and fries and loved it. I will definitely stop by again.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistent and yummyWe haven't been to City Cafe since chef Chad Gauss left. They still have the same standards which rock.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAgain, was wonderful!!We started visiting the City Cafe when we discovered it was walking distance from the BSO. This time we had the strawberry cucumber martini and a berry drink special both were out standing. Then the food, fresh oysters were excellent appetizers. Followed by the strip steak in a sauce with brussel sprouts, mushrooms and potatoes. This was also excellent. We enjoyed it so much we made a reservation for this week to visit again before seeing Chicago at the BSO. We are recommending City Cafe to all that frequent the BSO and can still walk. :)5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMMy yolks werent runny, oh wellI went for brunch and it was delicious. Normally I would be really upset that the yolks in my poached eggs weren't runny, but it was still really good.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWent to this restaurant SaturdayWent to this restaurant Saturday night before the Jerry Seinfeld show at the Meyerhoff. Great location within walking distance from the venue. Fortunate for us we sat in the bar. It was Happy Hour. I chose two Spanish wines an Albarino and a Rioja both $5. We shared oysters, fried lobster nuggets, grilled asparagus, lamb lollipops and the yellowfin tuna salad. The food was great and the service (Megan) even better.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI booked a table for myselfI booked a table for myself an 11 other girls for dinner before a bachelorette party. Food was great, service was great, staff was very accommodating and friendly. City cafe is a favorite of my husband and I and I'm glad I got to introduce 11 other people to it this week :)4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was pretty good butThe food was pretty good but not good enough for the very high prices!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOur waitress, Lindsay, wasOur waitress, Lindsay, was excellent. She was very knowledgeable about the menus and the wines, and gave us very good recommendations. There were 4 of us, 2 got the Seabass, one the scallops, and one the wildmushroom ravioli, and we were all very happy. We were on our way to a show, so we appreciated that service was efficient, but not pushy. Highly recommend this restaurant.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a light dinner beforeWe had a light dinner before going to the symphony and we liked what we got. The soup of the evening was great, as was the Moroccan chicken salad and the mushroom ravioli. The one Savignon blanc was very good. Nice for a spring evening with light fare. Coffee topped the meal and we made it the the concert with time to spare. Plan to come back soon.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMALways enjoy the City CafeI always liked the City Cafe and I do not go there as often as I should. Whenever I do, I am never disappointed. I think the food is good with good selections and well prepared.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI've become a regular hereI've become a regular here - but just learned Monday night was a terrific value.
$16 for a steak/chicken/fish entree, with two sauces and two sides. A bargain!
Plus $10 off any bottles of wine.
I'll be back.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMReturn patron...food is veryReturn patron...food is very good, service responsive and helpful, location is good. Airy, open, enjoyable atmosphere.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMSteak NightNice simple menu. Reasonable prices. Enough choices on the wine list. We went on advice of a friend for the prix fixe "Steak Night" so cannot judge the quality of the A La Carte menu.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always have a wonderfulWe always have a wonderful time at City Café. The chef uses seasonal, fresh ingredients in creative combinations. Both the décor and the food presentation are stylish. A happy place with vibrant energy.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMCity Cafe is one of our favoriteCity Cafe is one of our favorite restaurants. We had an especially exquisite meal Friday. The fried oysters are always a hit - we love the creamy sauce with a spicy edge. We had a halibut special with risotto/artichokes. It was just melt in your mouth delicious! We don't usually have dessert, but we tried the trio of samples. THe flourless chocolate cake was to die for, and the little wedge just the right amount. My husband especially liked the creme brûlée. The only disappointment at City Cafe is the bread. Instead of a great crunchy baguette, they do a kind of focaccia. It would be great if they gave diners a choice of breads.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and great service.Great food and great service. It is always a pleasure.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect place for a bite beforePerfect place for a bite before a show at the Meyerhoff. Never would guess from the name and outside appearance that this would be such a super place to enjoy an evening drink and meal (not that the name or appearance are bad, just not very grabbing).
I would highly recommend this to anyone, and will definitely return! Great food, service, selections and pricing!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant never failsThis restaurant never fails to deliver...both on food and fantastic service!4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been to City Cafe forI have been to City Cafe for brunch twice. I like the vegetarian options. Everything tastes fresh.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSaturday Night at City CafeThe City Cafe has been our "go to" restaurant on nights when we have BSO tickets. The staff does a very good job in getting people fed, and out the door in time to make their concert. The food is terrific, but even in the busy atmosphere as a diner, you never feel rushed. Nice job Saturday night.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time for my wife andFirst time for my wife and I. Food was great and the service was wonderful. Our server, Lindsey, was also amazing. She recommended items from each section of the menu and was very energetic and pleasant.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMCity Cafe Baltimore a food hit !I am a chef and my wife ans I travel to Maryland once a year to see our grandkids. My wife and I try to go out for dinner at a nice restaurant in the Baltimore area once each time. Well this was the best as far as food goes! The service was good, food excellent and atmosphere hip. My wife doesn't like asparagus and it was part of the preparation on her sea bass but they had no problem substituting green beans for her instead! We don't drink but I did order a non alcoholic beer but they didnt carry one which was the only negative but not a big one. We would both recommend it!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMNice neighborhood brunch .Reservation was promptly honored. Service was very excellent.
We got the fried chicken, eggs all around cooked to order!
Plenty of GOOD HOT COFFEE! Nice grits, a must for us.
We will go back. Good parking lot across the street.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMLove City Cafe!!I didn't end up using my reservation because my date got to the restaurant earlier than I did but they seated him immediately and everyone was extremely friendly. The service was excellent and we didn't have to wait a long time for our food even though the place was packed. The scenery was nice and I could see myself returning for drinks, dinner, lunch or even a late night find. Great!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOn the Friday night we wereOn the Friday night we were there the restaurant and bar were hopping. A valet took the car and were seated with seconds once we entered the restaurant. Severs are polite, gracious and efficient. Drinks came quickly and pleased everyone. Shortly thereafter our server took our order for dinner and before long dinner was served. The runner who brought it did not have to ask who got what; they are sharp and well trained and simply put the right dish if front of the right guest. It shows that they want you to have a seamless experience and we did.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMTwo of the party enjoyed deliciousTwo of the party enjoyed delicious rockfish , unusual accompaniments - the beetroot shoots were intriguing, crab cake with fingerling potato cake passed muster and as always a delightful evening. Liked their Frisk "prickly" Riesling with the crab.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe season is changing andThe season is changing and so did the specials. City Cafe's Chef Jared offered super fresh oysters, delicious and with a mignonnette. The baramundi was fresh, tender, light and flaky. It was served over a turnip puree, and topped with fried, shredded brussel spouts; mmmmmmmmmmm great! Enjoy the warm, wonderful service, and the rest of the terrific, expansive and unique menu.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMconsistently good food andconsistently good food and great cocktails -- they have Tito's vodka!!!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat brunch, def make a res!We had a great brunch! The food was perfect and we had great service. Not much more you can ask for! We had a reservation, which was crucial as they fill up on Sunday mornings quite quickly. Definitely recommend doing that!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMCity CFe is our choice eachCity CFe is our choice each time we go to the BSO. Our service this time was especially good and Chef Jared Rhine was amazingly patient and accessible to one of the members of our party who is very particular about his food.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent on every level!Excellent on every level! My partner and I will be returning often...In fact, Saturday's outstanding dinner experience inspired us to return for post-church brunch on Sunday afternoon...AND to reserve for dinner next Saturday!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI've dined at City Café manyI've dined at City Café many times over the years and have never been disappointed. The food and service continues to impress me. Always top notch.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst Impressions of City CafeSelected City Cafe for dinner before Thursday night cocert at the BSO. Convenient free parking was a plus. They have a great selection of appertizers (group chose Fried Oysters, very flavorful but small in size, Crab Soup, a creamy soup which even had crab chunks, and a Chopped Salad, quite large portion and diverse, flavorable contents). Varierty of dinner menu is good too, but look over their "Today's Specials" for more to make deciding hard. The ambience was OK, bright and maybe a little cramped but doesn't hinder the experience. Conversation amongst the group was fine, so not a noisy, bustling place - GOOD. And finally, service was top notch in my book. GOOD FOOD, GOOD SERVICE - oh, and prices are reasonable for the quality.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMour 'go to' restaurant...Another great dinner at the City Cafe! We have never been disappointed. Delicious food, attentive servers, generous drinks and wonderful atmosphere. What more is there to love.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding dinner beforeOutstanding dinner before the Meyerhoff.
