Lots of positive changes as of late and much more "grown up" feeling than my visit last October. They started us off with a fun amuse-bouche and a refreshing hamachi sashimi/hearts of palm salad which nicely prepared your palette. We ordered the diver scallops, which were cooked perfectly with a nice crust. My guest ordered the bison, which was good and lean, but I enjoyed my Kobe beef special much more since it was richer in flavor. Service was excellent and attentive with the perfect balance of check-ins. Overall a very good dining experience and look forward to dining here again.

Took my girlfriend here. It was her first time and she absolutely loved it. Upon being seated, the Hostess assisted my girlfriend in picking a bottle of wine that she thought she would enjoy. Our waiter Erick was also knowledgable about the menu. Overall a great experience, great food and friendly staff.

I enjoyed my meal at Citrus. The food and service are excellent. We tried several things and liked them all. I loved how calm and peaceful it was there. I hate going out to eat and having to shout to be heard. This place is wonderful if you want to have a conversation with your dining companions.

Very nice, modern decor. The food was good, but not excellent. Our son enjoyed the Salmon and couscous, my wife and daughter had the filet--while the meat was well prepared the coffee sauce was decidedly underwhelming and overpowering. I had the flatiron steak which was superbly prepared but agian the sauce was an unexpected and strangely sweet taste. Citrus has a lot of potential. A few menu adjustments and it could move up a notch or two.

Food was very good, had seafood and steak, can't go wrong with that. Service was outstanding, just enough to take care of our needs without interrupting our conversations. Ambience is stylish, not overdone, quite what allows conversations across the round table, very accomodating. Had a drink at the V-bar afterwards

We visited Citrus for Christmas dinner. It was much smaller than it appears in photos, but it's nice and quiet. My husband ordered the salmon entree and I ordered the pumpkin tart. I wasn't sure if I'd like camembert baked on top of the tart, so the waiter brought me a small sample of the cheese to try. The cheese was nice, and it was thoughtful of the chef and waiter to offer me the sample. My husband's salmon was excellent. My tart, however, was not. I didn't taste even a hint of pumpkin; the bottom crust was completely soggy. Overall, it wasn't appetizing to me, so I gave it to my husband. My dessert was very nice - a persimmon panna cotta. I don't understand why it's so hard to find a nice restaurant that offers great vegetarian meals.

We celebrated our anniversary at the restaurant. Food and service was perfect. The only damper to the evening was half way through our dinner, they placed a table of 3 ladies near us who were very loud and cared less if they were interrupting or disturbing anyone else's meal. I don't blame the restaurant. It just would have been nicer if they had been seated further away as the restaurant was not crowded.

We went there for a team dinner with a party of 5 people. The food was ok. the lamb was a bit undercooked so very tough to cut and chew. If I got it again I would order it at least Medium. The other food we ordered came out good. Some others ordered a soup they said was yummy with pork belly in it. I forgot the name of it. The glazed ribs appetizer was delicious and we ordered more after we cleaned the first plate. Good selection of wine

    Dined on 10/26/2012
Even though the name "heirloom tomato curry" is a bit misleading, I really liked it. It turned out to be basmati rice stuffed inside a papery-thin-crispy-tomato-skin, served over shredded zucchini, and a yummy tomato sauce. It seemed pretty healthful and had lots of flavor. The daily soup specials are often quite good (I like their onion soup, and also their green lentil soup), and their desserts are much better than the usual restaurant offerings. Thank-you Citrus!

    OpenTable Diner Since 2007
    Dined on 10/13/2012
Came here for our 2 year anniversary - we stayed at the hotel, which we love. We have never dined at Citrus before. I like what I ordered, I had the char crusted flatiron. I think this would be ok if it was just a regular night, but since this was our anniversary it didn't seem very special. The prices are reasonable. My husband ordered the pork chops and we ordered 2 alcoholic drinks. The bill came out to around $78. We booked the "special" that was being offered by the hotel so our room came with a $50 gift certificate and complimentary dessert for the restaurant. It took awhile for our server to come and take our order. The manager came and asked if we enjoyed our dinner, which was nice. Pretty good wine list.

I was expecting great food, personable staff, since I LOVE their San Antonio location. However, I was disappointed in the lack of finesse in the food and odd ambience and seating configuration. Food: Diver scallops: perfect sized portion, but burnt; odd flavor combo Caramelized pork ribs: these tasted boiled Pappardelle pasta: just give me less and make it taste better Dry aged ribeye: burnt and bitter (on a medium rare order). Server was nice & attentive, so I can't fault him. He seemed to know we weren't enjoying it, so I wish he had offered to correct some of it. Also the seats are grouped closely so i could feel our neighbors staring and talking about other patrons. Definitely recommend San Antonio, but can't say the sa

The heirloom tomato salad was inconsistent: some tomatoes were wonderful, others mealy and watery.Flavors did not meld and the dish was awkward to eat with the tomatoes being of varying sizes and the mozzerella congealed on the bottom of the dish. However, this was perhaps the best course. The rib eye was unimpressive and I could have made a tastier steak at home. The mushrooms had an odd fishy taste and the potatoes and marrow croquette were arguably forgetable. Desert, creme brulee with berries, was over-bruleed with significant char, infusing a bitter flavor. But, as my wife pointed out, "It's hard to complain about free desert.

The space was perfect for our boisterous group of 7. We didn't have to worry about bothering other diners since we were in a separate alcove. While some of the dishes were quite good (ceviche and curried mussels appetizers, and the side of grits were the favorites) others just seemed to miss the mark (absinthe spinach was odd, crab soup had shells). Short ribs tasted great, but the plating was unappealing. The filet looked beautiful, but wasn't all that special in flavor. Service was incredibly slow. Overall, I expected more out of this place based on the price and other reviews and the promising menu.

The food selections were notable. I had the braised short ribs and my companion had the bass. We shared our dishes with each other and agreed that both dishes were flavorful. The vegetables were prepared just right. The ambience was perfect for conversation until a larger party arrived. The maitre d did did advise us and offered another option before we were seated.Everything was great until we noted a surcharge for our cocktails. The server attempted to defend the charge until I had him present the menu wherein he retracted his position and deleted the charges. Hmmmm...wonder how many other patrons overlook this "charge".

We have been to just about every restaurant at Santana Row, but hadn't yet tried Citrus. We went for our anniversary and had very nice service. The food, however, was only fair. I ordered the soup which was completely bland and underseasoned. It tasted like cream of corn-- very onenote (sweet).I had to ask for Tabasco to give it some flavor. Then my Halibut came and was over-salted. We had to send it back because it was inedible. The caesar salad was good as was the wine. They comped the halibut and gave us a free dessert, so they made up for the not so good food with very good service. We won't, however, be going back.

Came for a late dinner and wound up having several of the appetizers in lieu of an entrée in order to get a feel for the place and because it was late. The food was outstanding. The service was exceptional even though it was late, we never felt pushed to get out. The restaurant is in the Valencia Hotel and as such has valet parking, which as a huge shock to me, with a stamp on the ticket, was free. That is a big deal as parking in Santana Row is difficult on a good day. Overall experience was excellent. Will definitely return for full entrée menu which looked great.
