Overall, the dining experience was nice; however, I was disappointed when the waiter knocked over a glass of water onto me. He only apologized then went to get more towels to wipe down the table and got new tableware but didn't provide me with more dry towels/napkins.

Citrus is definitely a place for the adults. I wouldn't recommend bringing your children here. It's a place to be with your significant other or lifelong friends. The tables aren't smushed together so you can have a quiet conversation without others listening in. The food is fabulous! I would suggest trying the artichoke spinach dip appetizer, it's to die for!

Restaurant and bar are separated by a courtyard. Have different names. Don't feel integrated. Dining area is buried. Lacks energy and is over air conditioned. Did not have a good feel. Service staff was nice, but venue design is flawed.

Nice place if you happen to be on Santana Row and want a quiet place for Dinner. We had some Calamari, the Lamb, Mushroom Chicken. I would not reccomend the Calamari. The Lamb was a bit overpriced but had a nice taste and presentation. The Chicken was also nice. Our server was pleastent. When we commented that one our wines in our "flight" had possibly gone "bad" he promptly replaced it. We probably will not be back, but like I said "if you happen to be on Santana Row and want a quiet place for Dinner." this is worth a try.

I brought my wife here for our 4th anniversary dinner, and was really prepared to like this place. Very cool atmosphere, especially after a couple of drinks at the Cielo bar upstairs. After sitting down to dine, and receiving a very good glass of red and a great dirty martini, the experience was all downhill. They were out of one of their main dishes, and one of their desserts...and they don't have many of either. Both side dishes we ordered were not good at all. We kept the potatoes gratin, which were bland but edible, and sent back the spinach, which tasted like chemicals. The steaks were excellent, but only after we sent back a medium well that was delivered very rare. I should have looked it up on Yelp before making plans.

It is a beautiful setting in the hotel--the courtyard is spectacular. The ambience of the whole hotel is wonderful. My companion enjoyed his filet mignon, asparagus and potatoes. My salmon was dry, the chopped vegetable salad didn't have enough dressing or the dressing wasn't tasty enough. The sauce or dressing on the mushrooms just didn't complement them well and the individual flavors of the different mushrooms weren't brought out. I liked the service, very helpful but unobtrusive. I would have liked better music, more relaxing. It was a bit too uptempo for the dinner hour. We were surprised and pleased by the free dessert the we were given to celebrate a birthday. That was a very nice touch.

It was very disappointing. Ordered Lobster Bisque Soup, and got Lobster Risotto. The appetizer and salad was brought out at the same time, then the soup, and before we were done with the soup and appetizer, the main course came out. Our medium rare stake was totally medium for the filet (no trace of pink) and the rib eye was rare. Then the dessert was the flattest chocolate cake we ever saw - about 3/4 inch tall, and about 4 inches wide. Clearly wasn't cooked correctly. Overly sweet, the thinnest cake and the "lava" parts had graininess to them. Even the strawberry that came with it was ice cold and had no flavor - rather amazing since there is nothing but wonderful strawberries in these parts in June.

Although we enjoyed the food the evening was not a good experience and we will not be returning, having ordered a Far Niente cab $225 found it vinegary instead of velvety even our waitress agreed when we asked her to try but the wine manager insisted it was fine and argued his point at great length we then ordered a $100 bottle of Freemark Abbey to finish our meal,he did deduct the Freemark Abbey from our bill but we thought he handled the situation badly and the bad wine should have been removed not the one we enjoyed.

It was sooo bad, I cannot believe it. I am writing a letter. There was a horrible "dirty kitchen" smell that prevailed throughout the evening, my comment when making the reservation about it being a birthday was completely ignored. The service was horrible even though there was only ours and one other table. Our wine was decanted, which was nice, but we had to pour it ourselves, and we kept having to wait to have our water glasses refilled. Our steaks were described with differnt sauces, but seemed to have the same one. The coup de gras was when I asked for the remainder of my steak and spinach to go, they brought it in a box and it leaked all over my outfit and shoes, making for a very squishy and uncomfortable evening.

As is typical at many restaurants, the restaurant was "out of stock" on the lower priced wines, forcing customers to order either something they don't like as well or higher priced bottles. This always annoys me and gets us off to a bad start. Otherwise, everything else was fine. The service was attentive; the noise level was low so it was easy to talk across the table and the food was good.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 4/25/2008
We almost didn't eat here as there were so many open tables; something of an oddity on a Friday night in an otherwise packed Santana Row! We had drinks in the bar and decided to go ahead and try Citrus. The food was good but the service was really slow. The salmon in parchment was reported to take about 20 minutes, it took 50 minutes. I asked to speak to the manager to inform him of the opportunity to better the dining experience; he was more defensive than apologetic. They did give us a free dessert (of their choosing) which wasn't memorable. All in all, there are many other safer bets for good food and service at busy Santana Row.

Beautiful decor, soft lighting, and jazz created a wonderful, elegant ambiance and a perfect first impression. The menu is a la carte, which can make the check add up, but my friend and I enjoyed choosing a dinner combination that fit our diets. We both started with wine "flights" and got a kick out of the two wrought iron stands that came out holding 3 wine glasses each filled with 2 ounces of different wine samples. It was a fun way to drink wine. Then came the food...good spinach salad, but I was most impressed by the seared ahi (very tender) with soba noodles and the orange roughy stuffed with crab. Delicious! I was very glad we decided to split the entrees. The service was great! We will definitely go back and will bring friends.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2002
    Dined on 4/12/2008
We love the ambience at Citrus. However, we have now had 2 experiences where meat was not cooked to order (medium instead of medium rare filet mignon, making it tough). Items were not available from wine list and spinach was described as 'sauteed' on the menu and yet served in a fairly heavy cream sauce. These are mistakes that shouldn't be happening in a restaurant at this price range. Service is good.

This was not a good dining experience. We told the waiter & also mentioned on-line when we made our reservation that we and another couple were celebrating our 23rd and 41st wedding anniversaries. The waiter never said a word after my wife reminded him. Congratulations or some other response would have been nice or perhaps a little shared deseart. The food was a very long time in arriving. We were informed we could not use our Passport cards as the restaurant had a lot of trouble with the Passport company. No one said thankyou for coming as we left. All in all a very poor experience and inexcusable indifference on the part of the staff. We will certainly not be back and will inform other couples we know of our experience.

I would rate the experience as pretty lousy overall. I will not go back there nor recommend to anyone else.
