  • "Always a great experience with good menu choices and generous servings. Great ambiance for a special occasion and tasteful decor. Patio would be a great casual dining option if it is utilized for dining?"

  • "For the food quality, price is high. There was not a single dish that we finished. Too many good choices in the neighborhood"

  • "Four of us ate inside at citrus....Two of us ordered the bbq pork cutlet and told the waiter not to overcook the pork....What we got was a large pork loin which was sliced in 3/8" slices....IT WAS SO OVERDONE IT WAS LIKE EATING A DRIED PIECE OF MEAT....Thew only thing that saved the few pieces I ate was the aisan (soy) sauce served on the side and you could dip a piece of meat in it for some moisture.....Also, the rice was very undercooked and was very crunchy....I will never go back or recommend Citrus to friends...John"

  • "Have you ever had raw abalone? Visit Citrus and enjoy this absolute delight. We also had perfectly seared scallops before sadly leaving and "dinner hopping" down the row. Our server, Manuel was also wonderful. We'll be back."

  • "Thank you for the wonderful experience on Valentine's day. Our server was very polite and attentive to our needs. We received complementary champagne due to the slight wait which was very short. Our only complaint was that the sauce used on the ribeye plate was extremely salty. The overal meal was almost perfect, and the dining experience was one of the best we have ever had."

  • "My husband and I had the most wonderful dinner at Citrus. We had the special prefixed menu, and the 5 course meal was AMAZING!! The dishes were exotic...ranging from grilled oyster shooters to skate wing with abalone to miso braised oxtail, to name a few. The dessert was also extremely decadent. We even got complimentary champagne! Service was perfect and we were very impressed."

  • "Service and ambience great, food good and wine list good. Server opened a fresh bottle of wine for wine by the glass which was exceptional service. We'll go back for a second try when we're in the area."

  • "Citrus offered an escape from the crazy Santana row noisy crowds & crowded restaurants. It was nice, quite, relaxing. The Filet we had was cooked perfectly, wine was great, service was great too. Would go again."

  • "we chose citrus for dinner because it was one of the only restaurants open on Christmas that was in a nice area. The restaurant is on the 3rd floor of the Valencia hotel with a beautiful courtyard. The food was very good. The restaurant is beautiful but it was pretty noisy for a restaurant that was only about a third full. Maybe it was because it was Christmas but I didn't think that the service was up to par. the wait staff was very pleasant just slow. In all fairness I would have to give them another try on a non holiday evening to see how the restaurant really measures up."

  • "The service was very good. It was Christmas eve and the place was nearly deserted. The food unfortunately was a disappointment. While the short ribs were tasty and tender the polenta was bland and tasteless. The mushroom risotto was a big surprise. It was salad macaroni instead of the familiar risotto. The waitperson was charming and attentive. I think we must of been there on an off night."

  • "Citrus is a good choice for someone looking for quieter, more romantic place for dinner. There was no rush, the ambiance was good, as was the meal."

  • "Citrus is located in the Valencia Hotel, in the heart of San Jose's new up-scale shopping and dining district .. Santana Row .. They have "cubicles" of sorts .. which enclose your table on three sides, and separated from other areas by chain "veils" that give you a wonderful sense of privacy, and VERY quiet and romantic. The service was a little too leisurely for me, but others who wished to spend more time dining might have found it just fine. It was a wonderful evening and I recommend "Citrus" to all. They currently have a Wednesday special, where all wine is 50% off when purchased by the bottle. http://www.hotelvalencia-santanarow.com/citrus.htm"

  • "Our waiter was professional and very attentive. Food was average. Nothing special. I liked that menu was short, but food preparation was not something you would expect from such restaurant and prices. I expected more."

  • "Appetizers were delicious. We got the tuna tartare and diver scallops, we could have eaten those all night! For the entree, I got the filet of beef, medium rare, and it almost melted in my mouth. Others got the pasta, seared tuna, and seabass, and they said it was quite good as well."

  • "Once you actually find the restaurant (I had to ask the hotel staff to find it), you find a quiet, reserved ambiance with a surprisingly few guests for a Friday evening at 6:45PM. Given that the hopping hotspot bar is across the courtyard, the restaurant may get more busy late in the evening. Citrus provides a measured dining experience (as in, not rushed). Fortunately, every dish is worth the wait. Even the bread is served with a butter infused with orange olive oil that adds a unique and pleasant taste. Appetizer flavors were complex and delightful, and all the main courses, from short ribs to whitefish to rack of lamb were excellent and interesting in their presentation and taste. Overall prices reasonable, ~$50/person w/wine."

  • "A very pleasant, enjoyable dining experience. Compact menu, lots of beef, some chicken / fish / vegetarian dishes. All well-prepared. Knowledgeable and helpful waiters."

  • "Dinner started with very fresh hot sourdough rolls with a unique and delicious crock of butter topped with blood orange olive oil and grated orange zest. My salmon had perfectly crispy skin and moist meat and came with pistachio tahini, Israeli couscous and roasted black garlic. My guest had the chef’s special, Korean short ribs that were braised, then battered and fried, kind of Korean BBQ meets tempura. It was creative and delicious. We really appreciated the innovative food and use of wonderful ingredients. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the dishes, and the service was excellent. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the perfect setting for an enjoyable dinner."

  • "Great space and nice menu. Service was excellent and they are very attentive to people with dietary restrictions (gluten, dairy etc). Wine list by the glass is limited. The Brussels sprouts were under cooked and so where the bean in the lamb dish (chef should taste before sending to table). Would be nice to add Almond milk to serve as non-dairy with coffee. Will try them again."

  • "I signed up through OpenTable because there was suppose to be prix fixe program with listed restaurants in San Jose during a particular week in October. Not to be true for Citrus. The appetizers were very good but skimpy. I ordered a special which was a chappino. It was extremely spicy which overwhelmed any flavor. The staff was very accommodating and the short ribs that I ordered as a replacement was an excellent dish. I was looking forward to this visit based on my recollection of having been there six months ago when everything was excellent and was generally disappointed that the food was a notch below what I had the last time. I am not certain I will go back but know that I will take it off my special occasions list. Great service."

  • "Everything here from ambiance, waiters, hostess and food is exceptional. You are greeted warmly when you walk in, are checked on multiple times to make sure everything is tasting well and wait time for food is very short. I had the Chefs sea food special "Cioppino" which included Trout,Clams,Scallops,Shrimp,Calamari and some type of grilled bread, all sum-urged in the tomato wine sauce. Everything tasted hearty, fresh and seasoned perfectly. My mom had the Kobe Rib Eye steak which had minimal fat on it and cooked just right. Very tender as well. We were going to pass on dessert, but our waiter (thanks again Eric) surprised us with a tasty Birthday Creme Brulè. I highly recommend eating here if you are in the mood for a fancy dinner."
