  • "food was excellent. it took a while for our drinks but then the food came quickly"

  • "The food was amazing. Every minor detail was excelled. This was the first time we tried C&R and it was for the Italian night. Having tasted what we did, we will definitely be back for the regular menu. Quite possibly the best dessert I've ever had."

  • "The restaurant is fantastic by all standards! The food is delicious and well presented. The staff doesn't always seem to love their jobs, or eager to meet your needs, but the food makes up for it. My ONLY complaint would be that if you're a party of two, you MAY end up sitting so close to your neighbor thT it feels like a party of four."

  • "Citron and Rose always comes through with quality food and a pleasant upscale atmosphere. The prices are a little high, but acceptable for an upscale kosher restaurant. My only critique is that there is usually a slow beginning to the meal...it take a while to order, but once the first course arrives, the meal moves along at a nice pace."

  • "Whenever I am in Philadelphia, I make sure to dine at Citron and Rose. Everything about it is superb. The service, ambience, and most important of all, the food are all out of this world. The crowd speaks for itself, as we were passing through town on a Monday night, and the place was packed."

  • "Fabulous dining experience!! Wonderful food, service, etc. etc."

  • "The food is absolutely amazing, along with everything else. Our service was great, our server allowed us to feel so comfortable which made the night even better. When we had a question they had the answer and the answer was not to choose the most expensive item on the menu but to choose the item we would enjoy the most. I will definitely continue to go back to Citron and Rose."

  • "Having popped in for lunch with a business associate who had never been ... I got her first hand review. Surprised and delighted covers it. She enjoyed fresh pan roasted Arctic Char over arugula salad with an incredible home made potato salad. Fresh, bright and absolutely delish!"

  • "Wanted to try this place because of their interesting food preparation. Will say that the food could have been served a little hotter. (should have mentioned that when the opportunity presented itself, and it did) The food was outstanding. Would like to return when they have a special prix fixe menu that offers more of the "traditional" Kosher cuisine. Service is top of the line. Place can get a bit noisy when it is full."

  • "This is the second time we have been to Citron and Rose. We go on our anniversary. We felt that last year the food and service was MUCH better. The choices on the menu were also much more interesting and appetizing on our last visit. The waiter started out very slow, but he ended up being ok. Last year I remember being very well waited on. There were just a lot of little things that did not feel like what we were expecting based on our last visit. It seemed like they had changed the menu quite a bit from the last time, to our disappointment. We definitely enjoyed ourselves and the dessert was most awesome. Wish the dinner and service had been as good."

  • "The food was excellent. Highly recommend the restaurant whether you keep kosher or not. The rib eye was as good as a steak you get at a non-kosher high end steak house. The lamb shank was amazing. Best app was the potato soup with beef cheeks. Restaurant is a bit pricey. 3 entrees, 3 apps, 2 desserts, 1 highball drink, 2 coffees was $190+tax+tip. No wine."

  • "Citron and Rose may be the only "fancy" Kosher restaurant in the Philadelphia area, but the lack of competition does not detract from its overall quality. It is really outstanding in all aspects of the dining experience."

  • "Restaurants on the Main Line. My fiancé and I had fish. Both entrees were amazing. I highly recommend."

  • "Honestly...the title says it all. Had no problems with anything, and it is very nice to finally have a great kosher restaurant in the area."

  • "We thought the food was mediocre , and for the prices, there was not a sufficient enough food on the plates. Though they try to be creative, the combinations were strange and they don't offer the proper finished dishes, ie,, they offer a "trout pate" as an appetizer without something to spead it on, and the consistancy was more like whitefish salad. We left hungry and we had "soup to nuts". I guess if you are Kosher, there isn't another neighborhood restaurant to patronize. Too bad!"

  • "I brought a coworker here for dinner -- we had reserved a table and it was ready for us when we arrived. The food was excellent and the waiters were pretty good. At some point I needed to ask them to refill our glasses of water but otherwise they were on top of what was going on and helpful."

  • "My wife and I had a very nice brunch at Citron and Rose. The food and service were very good; however the menu might not be for everyone."
    Dined on 2/16/2014
  • "We had brunch and would likely have preferred a lunch menu instead. The menu may have been too exotic for our tastes. Hard to find kid-friendly options and picky eaters would be hard pressed to find enough variety in the menu to find something to their liking. Décor was very pretty, service was attentive and helpful. It is hard to find an upscale kosher restaurant outside of Manhattan so this was a treat. Hopefully, we will find a time to get back to Philadelphia so that we can try out the lunch or dinner menus instead."

  • "Sunday brunch at C&R was an interesting experience. The menu is appropriate for the meal, with a fine mix of brunch offerings for a leisurely Sunday meal. Our party of 5 had 3 arugula salads plus my sweet potato hummus. The salads were really good, with fresh greens, large tasty pomegranate seeds & a delicious lemon vinaigrette dressing. My hummus was rather sweet (no surprise), but it was a bit too sweet for hummus, in my opinion - perhaps a purée would have been a better presentation. I had the duck sausage hash, which was tasty if a bit salty. Three in our party had burgers (good but not great was the consensus). The last entree was a thick soup that my sister-in-law liked, & the beignet were beignet. Yes, it's kosher - irrelevant."

  • "For a fantastic meal, Citron & Rose is the way to go. We were a party of 4, and all of us couldn't get over how clean the place was, the great food, superior service, upbeat, but relaxing atmosphere, and fair pricing. Great place to go for all occasions."

  • "The dinner was OK, but for the money (mid $30 entrees) we were expecting something special. This was our 4th time at Citron & Rose. 1st 2 times (when it opened) were fabulous. Third time - new chef - not so good. 4th time - another new chef - average, but not up to expectations. We likely will not be back."

  • "Good food with attentive staff who do their best to please you. A bit pricey but the food is Kosher and you will pay for it. Good for special occasions when Kosher requirements limit choice. Not for a routine dinner out. Noise level in bar area is excessive and also rather drafty when door opens. Staff is very attentive and will respond to comments made about the orders without question. They really seem to try to please."

  • "It was a very plesent change from the ordinary. A lot of my friends had told me the food was really good but they kept using the word "Heimish" to describe it, which it is anything g but. Yes they use words like "kugel" and schmaltz on the menu but I think that is just to capture the feel of old world Jewish flair, the Chef is doing great stuff with real food I had 10 different dishs and all were cooked perfectly the standouts for me were the mackerel, sea bass, risotto special, lamb carpaccio, and duck. I will definatlybe going back the next time I get a day off or when she changes the menu."

  • "Second time back. First time the food was delicious, but much too heavy for us. This time we stayed with fish and the meal was outstanding. Not only were the fish dishes done exceedingly well, but they were accompanied by creative delicious sides and sauces that went way beyond really good. The blend and contrast of tastes and textures was exquisite. We eat out a lot and this was a truly special, outstanding experience. Be sure to try the hot fudge with oatmeal ice "cream.""

  • "Overall a nice dining experience. I found the service and the food less impressive than the last time I was there a few weeks before. The food was still enjoyable but I was hoping for more especially since I brought along two more people and spent a lot more money."

  • "Excellent food and a hip, casual ambiance, wonderful and friendly service. Rivals any NYC kosher eatery. Many things on the menu that I want to try on my next visit, including new twists on old classics. Sunday Brunch there was great way start to a day of visiting the National Museum of American Jewish History in downtown Philly. Delicious outing! Overall, highly recommended whether you keep kosher or not."

  • "Nothing better than great drinks and a delicious burger. It was one of the best burgers I've ever had - kosher and non-kosher."

  • "Loved my first visits here and could not wait to go back again. This time, however, the food was not as good. The latkes were delicious but the soup was only good. The Duck was great but the steak was tasteless and over cooked. The desserts were the best overall course. Loved the oatmeal ice cream and the lemon tart was very good but the crust was a little thick and hard to cut. I will not hesitate to go back since my first experiences were so good."

  • "My recent experience at Citron & Rose was wonderful. The flavors created by the chef were exceptional. The plating was unique and quite enticing. The service was absolutely great, and everyone was upbeat and knowledgeable. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that appreciates good food & good times."

  • "Wow. This restaurant was fantastic. We were there for a social/business lunch and it was perfect. Our waiter was friendly and well-informed and appropriately attentive. We both had the chicken soup which was delicious. My dining partner was very hapy with her chicken salad and I had the Arctic Char a pink fish that resembles salmon but is more mild tasting. It was prepared perfectly and accompanied by a fabulous salad with nuts and dried fruit with a great vinaigrette. Coffee was delicious and refilled often as was water. Can't wait to return here for dinner."

  • "I chose Citron and Rose to take my wife out to brunch for our 32nd anniversary. We went with a couple we've known for years. The four of us enjoyed the food. The staff was friendly, professional and very accommodating to my friend's hard to please tastes. I'd recommend it to anyone seeking delicious Kosher food."

  • "The servers are very pleasant. the food is ok. portions, for the most part, are very small for what one pays. i had a tiny bit of dry pastrami for $11. I could have gotten pastrami at Hymie's that was much better for less money. The noise level is much too high and they should at least lower the music. On the other side I believe the area needed a kosher restaurant so this fills a niche for a lot of people."

  • "We enjoyed the high quality of food and the pleasant environment. the kale salad was exceptional and the latke appetizer was also excellent. My wife as surprised and pleased by the size and quality of the cornish hen dish."

  • "Despite a reservation, we were offered the worst table in the dining room, then seats in the bar and finally a table for four. We waited almost ten minutes for menus and water. (Yes, we walked out of White Dog when the same thing happened.) It was obvious that an event in the back room was slowing things down elsewhere. The first cup of coffee, de-caf, was awful. I asked for and received a second cup of regular, which was good. Our sandwiches were delicious and, as I said to the waitress, "worth waiting for". The restaurant is very attractive but the main dining room could have used more staffing. Parking was a problem: we were lucky to find a space."

  • "Our good friends from DC & NYC visited with us and specifically asked for a meal at Citron & Rose. We are not foodies but appreciated the return visit for everybody with veal, steaks, & home cured pastrami, a special entree with a delicatessen pedigree and a delight from the chef. The service was unhurried, gracious, & genuinely solicitous. It was a lovely end to a day with friends."

  • "The restaurant had a fixed menu for the holiday. (Note that this is a kosher restaurant.) The waiter was very rushed and overbearing. At the same time, the flow of the meal was poor, with some courses coming quickly and others very slowly. Tables were very close together. Many of the diners at different tables seemed to know each other and walked from table to table visiting. This caused extra noise and did not add to the ambiance. Our table was too close to its neighbors on both sides, so much so that we had to limit conversations to entirely neutral topics or speak in a whisper. The food was good but not great; not sure it was worth the $95. The service was underwhelming."
