While a little noisy, atmosphere was quite nice. Our server (sorry, can't remember his name) was outstanding. Was well versed on the menu, attentive, and had a good personality. Very welcoming. The food was delicious...chopped salad, pork belly pastrami, mac and cheese all outstanding starters. Short Rib, Scallops, Grouper, and Meat Loaf all tasty entrees...and the apple bread pudding with bacon dessert was surprisingly awesome...like eating a rich french toast with bacon and caramel...yum!

Based on a recommendation from family, we dined here in Oct. 2014. We were told that we must have a barrell-poured drink and the Chopped Salad and neither one was a disappointment! The Chopped Salad is enough for 2 to share. We also had entrees of the pork chop and the scallops and both were delicious; probably the best scallops we've ever had. Our server was very attentive and helpful. We ended the night with a chocolate dessert and coffee. Great atmosphere and experience.

The food was fantastic; things most people are familiar with (ribs, scallops, salad), but with a really flavorful and unique twist. I went with my husband - we are both foodies - and we really enjoyed the whole meal. I didn't notice a loud noise level, we were able to talk to each other just fine and in fact, the place has a fun energy and vibe. The service was great and we will definitely go back.

I go back because the food is great, the service adequate. I don't frequent because the venue is soooo loud it's almost impossible to notice how good the food is. If that's not a concern, go for it.

Went for restaurant week to try out a new restaurant. Enjoyed all of the food except their bacon popcorn. It had a good flavor but also had too many hard kernels. The quality of the popcorn was not there. We had their chopped salad and scallop entrée. Loved both. We had a brownie sundae and it was not something I would get again. I was very disappointed in the ambiance of the establishment. It felt like an unfinished space. Also, did not enjoy the noise level and it was not busy so can imagine what it would be like on a very busy evening.

We journeyed to Citizen Public House for AZ Restaurant week, our second time, and brought along first-time friends. We had Gary as our server again, and let me tell you, he's still awesome. Top 5 service experiences I've had here in the Valley. Everything from the crafted cocktails to the meal was incredible. Though on the pricier side, this is a must-try, along with it's sister restaurant, The Gladly.

Reserved 10 year anniversary here through Open Table. Went early to check out bar scene and, upon announcing ourselves to the hostess, were ushered to our own private table. Hostesses were whispering among themselves while looking at us (which would be odd and a little rude, but..) as they turned us over to our waiter Sam. Sam escorted us to the farthest table in the place which had the best view and was actually 2 tables pushed together. Simply put, we were wined and dined the whole visit. Ended with a special dessert and champagne on the house! Great place, best service (possibly ever), and very attentive staff! Thanks to Open Table and Citizen Public House!

"Chop Salad", after dining at Citizen Public House, I am unable to say the word "Chop Salad" without a slight, "Mmmm..." shortly following. The food here is a standard rarely seen in Arizona restaurants however, the real gem, is the staff. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed the food, service and location. Easy to find - right off 5th Avenue with a nice upscale decor. The entire staff was very friendly and our waiter, Gary, was awesome. Fun and right there. We ordered off the "Restaurant Week" menu and everything was delicious! The chopped salad is a must! Two of us had the scallops - perfectly cooked, tender and not overcooked in the least - and one person had the meatloaf. I tasted the meatloaf and it was excellent. Nice size portions, but we saved room for the brownie sundae desert! It was the perfect size, just a few bites to end the meal with a something sweet. I don't know if these portions were the same as the normal menu, but it was perfect for us! I would recommend to anyone.

This was our first visit and the food was delicious What really stood out for us was the service - our server - AJ - just seemed to offer the most genuine smile and service we have had in a long while. The only issue for us was the volume of noise in the restaurant - the scale to chose from only characterizes the noisiest as "energetic" - OK - let's go with that - but add - it was noisy enough that I suggested to my spouse that we text each other our conversations..... When temps cool down....... we would be interested in the small outdoor patio - likely less noisy. :) Again to reaffirm though - our server was truly fantastic - just the true and personable way he came across - loved that!

It's certainly a clean, well-lighted place, and the decor is subtle and attractive. And the food is well-prepared and well-presented. but... Citizen Public House didn't make us eager to return. It's like many ambitious Scottsdale venues - hip or trying to be, with a chef who clearly knows his craft. Still, our food was good but uninspiring - the chicken and seared scallops specials served during restaurant week had something to a "me-too" feel, hard to distinguish from what we've had elsewhere in town. Part of our issue was the noise level, which was pretty intense, especially considering the restaurant was less than half full. But the bar was full, and the noise spilled out everywhere into the room. Hard to converse across the table.

Extremely noisy to the point of not being able to hear each other. Service was not good - our order was delivered incorrectly and our waiter seemed distracted. Food was just okay - nothing special. The drinks were good. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. I had heard so many good things, but it wasn't what we were looking for.

I drove past CPH on the way to a different bar and remembered hearing good things, so I made a quick reso for 8 (only time available). My hubby and I had a few drinks and snacks and walked around Old Town. We were starting to get hungry for dinner, but it was only 7. We tried our luck and they were able to find us a table. Food exceeded our expectations and we will definitely return without our 4 year old, next time. Also, will sit on the same side of table next visit to avoid yelling, as it was quite loud...and dark.

The meal (chopped salad, scallops & short ribs) and drinks were excellent, but what really set them apart was the great service. We went in early with a young kid and the servers were friendly, efficient, and very accommodating. We shared the chopped salad which was excellent, and then had scallops and short ribs which were both cooked to perfection. the Citizen cocktail was tasty, but the Thai margarita was bland and watery. We had to fend off the four year old to get any of the Cocoa Jar for dessert - get your own so you don't have to share.

What an amazing experience!!! Appetizers - I had Gazpacho Verde which was so unique with the mussel "topping". My wife thoroughly enjoyed the creamy, almost buttery Buratta. Entrees - my wife ordered Amaro Meatloaf - truly comfort food with a rich mushroom cream sauce. I chose Bacon wrapped scallops which were cooked perfectly. The wilted snow pea greens were amazing. Desserts - I had the Bacon & Peach pie. Very tasty, but the crust was overcooked. My wife got the Cocoa Jar. Said it was the best dessert she'd ever had!!!. Our server, Matt was fantastic!!!! Very knowledgeable about ALL the dishes. We asked a lot of questions since many items on the menu we'd never had and he took the time to answer every one. We DEFINITELY will be back.

The food is always outstanding. I don't think I've ever had something I didn't think was amazing. Service is generally top notch. The look of the restaurant is nice, classy and very dim. However the acoustics in there make it one of the loudest restaurants I've ever been in. It was obscenely loud to the point that we almost walked out before ordering. It was just my husband and I for my birthday and we couldn't even have a conversation across a small table. We'll have to switch to only going at the very beginning of the night or lunch or not at all.
