We are foodies and love to cook and food was outstanding. We started with the Citizen salad and we were blown away! not as much of a salad as a refreshing appetizer. loved it! The table was comfy and the ambience was chic. The menu choices were fun and varied. Two people got the lamb burger and were in ecstasy eating both it and the fries along side. My son got the lamb loin, new on the menu for the summer season, and it was AMAZING. I'm so glad he gave us all some tastes. My dad got the scallops which were buttery, sweet, and terrific. I got the buttermilk chicken which was also very good. I am so glad we went, and would love to return for another special event. The food was excellent and the service exceptional! Try the chopped salad, some very different ingredients but once mixed was delicious! The scallops were wonderful, served on a bed of creamy grits, unusual ingredients but melded very well! My husband tried the meatloaf which was also good! We finished with the chocolate cake and bread pudding, both yummy!
The atmosphere was lively and a little bit loud. Great beer and wine selection. I tried 'The Citizen' (martini) , pear vodka and ginger liqueur, fabulous!

We ate from the Arizona Restaurant Week menu and were not disappointed, the starter and dessert were petite, but the main courses were full size. Which were perfect for us, as the a la carte portions are generous. We took part in the restaurant week menu they offered and my husband had the tomato bisque soup, Meatloaf, and the peanut butter/banana bread pudding. The soup and pudding were delicious and we would recommend both. However, the meatloaf was blan. We both agreed it needed some salt, which they do not put on the tables. I ordered a salad, the buttermilk chicken, and mint chocolate cake. The chicken was wonderful and sat on top of this very yummy corn/bean mix. It was decisious. I ate every last bite and was stuffed! Tasty three course meal for decent price of $30. The Original Chopped Salad, Amaro Meatloaf and Flourless Chocolate Cake were my choices. All very tasty. In terms of drinks, there was wide variety of wines to choose from. I had the Allegrini Corte Giara pinot grigio and the Lolo Albarino, which were both refreshing and not too sweet.

I made reservations through OpenTable because I wasn't sure how busy Citizens would be on a Saturday night. Our seats were ready and the ambiance was perfect for a romantic date. Wait staff were helpful and quick to answer questions when asked. We were fortunate it was Scottsdale Food Week and ordered off a special menu. Original Chopped salad my date loved! and I had the field greens which was decent, beyond that they next course of Pan Seared Scallops was spectacular and coming from a New England bred man who lived next to the scallop dredgers that is saying something! Dessert was flour-less mint cake (very good) and Banana bread pudding (ok). But the dinner tables are set more as a fine dining place and the menu is interesting and creative. My wife's scallops were perfectly done - which is tricky and not all places succeed. I had the meatloaf, which was fine and beautifully presented, but not as interesting tasting as I thought it would be. It is a fun, lively crowd so you feel like you are at a party. The server was attentive without being too familiar, gave good recommendations and promptly took care of anything we asked for.
