  • "This fun spot overlooking the Grand Central Station vibe is not cheap; but the staff makes a serious effort to serve tasty food - especially the Cipriani favorites (carpaccio, chicken curry, etc.). Waitstaff are kind to children who are polite and quiet. There's a limited choice of wines by the glass, but the house wine is very good. Desserts, of course (a selection daily) are yummy. Don't go for a quiet tete a tete, but this is a wonderful slice of New York if you have visitors who want to see the hustle bustle of the transportation hub. "

  • "I would only recommend this restaurant because of the great views looking over Grand Central Station. What I didn't understand was how they prepared my dish. I ordered pasta with bolognese sauce which was brought out in a large serving bowl on a tray and then the waiter preceded to scoop out half to my plate and half to another plate that was going to a different table. It was bland, slightly warm and the pasta was undercooked. The food was less than average and expensive, but I'm sure that's due to the location."

  • "We treated out-of-town friends to dinner at Cipriani-Dolci as it was convenient to all. Many were taking advantage of Restaurant Week so while it was not a long wait to be seated, it was a tight squeeze to get into our table. The non-bench seats were in the narrow aisle which was used by waitstaff carrying trays and diners looking to be seated which made for a crowded feeling. The servers were pleasant and attentive and the food was good, but it was more about the taste than the portions. If you are looking for generous plates of food perhaps this may not be the place to dine--tastes great, less filling!"

  • "Well I was expecting a really a great time for my birthday lunch celebration with my family (4 all together) but it didn't work out; instead of enjoy the place an food as per many great reviews we were rushed all along not sure if because they were busy or the fact that we were dining from the restaurant week menu. The restaurant itself is very crowded and with a really cold weather we had you have to layer up and at the time of sitting it was very uncomfortable trying to take out our coats, there s not much room as it is for you to move and/or you need to be very careful to avoid hiting the people on the next table or to knock out somethig else. Maybe Spring & Summer will be a better time to pass by."

  • "Very fun location as it's inside Grand Central Station. Lucky enough to have gotten a table with a direct view of the middle of Grand Central Station. We were able to take advantage of Restaurant Week, so a prix fix lunch @ $25. Not a lot of food, but really just enough. Would definitely go back again. It is noisy, however, but that's part of the ambience!"

  • "very hectic--but what do you expect for the middle of Grand Central? Had to wait 15 minutes for my reservation--but the Matre'd handed me a Bellini on the house--nice guy! Got a table right at the front of the balcony-- the greatest view. Had the restaurant week manu--the best was the dessert-a tiramisu in a tulip shaped chocolate cup!"

  • "The food was very basic and the presentation incredibly poor. Even if it is for restaurant week they should make an effort to present better. The side order rice pilaf was plain rice on a plate withy noting added, no presentation at all ! Horrible. I was overall very disappointed."

Surprised by the plastic ware and overheard another customer ask the waiter who said they were having hot water issues and could only stay open by using the disposable plates etc. I told the waiter they should let people know before they are seated as it really takes away from the experience. The food was OK, service just OK too."

  • "Upon arrival, we were told that, due to a hot water issue, we would have to dine with plastic plates, which was fine. I used to be a waitress, so I understand that these things happen, however I was not expecting the chef to use that as an excuse to abandon presentation. Our entrees came out with the meat on one plate and side on another, like we were eating in a cafeteria. I ordered Chicken Spezzatino , and they served me some concoction that looked like the free samples of Cajun chicken that Chinese restaurants give away in food courts, and I tasted pretty similar to that as well. To top it all off, our waiter was rude and inattentive. He walked away from me when I was asking a question and took too long to bring coffee and the check."

  • "We made reservations through Restaurant Week and no one called to confirm, thankfully that wasn't an issue when I got there. The dishwasher was broken so this fine dinning establishment was serving everything on plastic plates and with plastic silverware, which would have been nice to know before we got to the restaurant (to their credit, they did tell us when we were being seated but it was too late to go find somewhere else since we were starving), and the food was sub-par. The Chicken Marsala was little chunks of chicken with Marsala sauce that wasn't great, and no mushrooms or anything else. The "rice pilaf" was simple white rice, and the veggies weren't seasoned, just plain steamed. Bland and underwhelming."

  • "I am 17 years old and I went to cipriani for dinner with 6 of my friends and we we're pleasantly surprised to be treated very nicely by the staff despite our age. Our waiter was very friendly and patient, answering our questions about the menu and helping us out with splitting the bill between two different methods of payment. The food was very good and it's a neat spot to be in, right in the middle of the hustle of a Grand Central. overall a great experience, I would definitely go back and recommend to others!"

  • "Seated us by the door where it was 17 degrees outside. We had to put our winter coat during dinner. Plastic plates, utensils and styrofoam cups were used which was a huge disappointment. A lot of reviews were highly recommended this place. This was the worst experience we had. They claimed that their dishwashers were broken..... why some tables still used glasses and plates?! Then they had the nerved to charged us full price on the food. Won't be back at all"

  • "Went for restaurant week. Menu was different to website, food was decent and of course sitting in gct to eat was great. However, they had a problem with the hot water and so couldn't wash dishes so everything was served on plastic plates, plastic knives and forks, plastic wine glasses! This was ok but I really think the hostess should have been telling people before they were seated rather than people being horrified a $18 glass of wine was served in a plastic cup!!"

  • "At first we were a little concerned after reading all the mixed reviews online, so we told our waiter (Rocky) and he said "Trust me you will not be disappointed." Rocky was right, everything from apps to our dessert was excellent. The portions may have been a little smaller due to Restaurant week, but we left satisfied. We will definately go back especially when Rocky is working."

  • "I booked Cipriani Dolci prior to our short trip to New York to experience the legendary Cipriani experience. I had to speak to a bar man on arrival as all the restaurant staff were stood in a group chatting amongst themselves. The food arrived which we all found ok, nothing special. 2 girls were seared near us and as they went to order were told they had stopped serving food, which I thought was terrible. After paying my bill $300 I had to get myself out of the restaurant by removing the barrier with no help or acknowledgement from any staff and no thank you or goodbye either. It felt very much like a mediocre restaurant trading on a big name and lacked the friendly italian hospitality."

  • "Made a 1pm reservation, but didn't seem to matter...we weren't seated until 1:30pm (seated after three businessmen walked up, talked with the host on the side, and were seated immediately in front of us...infuriating after standing there for 30 minutes). Finally seated at 1:30pm at a table for four that we thought would fit nicely in a doll house. After sitting there for at least five minutes, a server finally decided to take our order. Didn't get water and bread for another five minutes, had to ask multiple times throughout the lunch for more water (even though there seemed to be 20 employees swarming around the restaurant). The server did the bare minimum, never asked us about our meal. Horrible service overall. Food was ok."

The elevated perspective in the main terminal allows one to take in the atmosphere of this beautiful, historic space. The food was excellent as was the service. Restaurant week offers the opportunity to experience this venue at an affordable price."
