A word from Cipriani - Dolci
Opened in March of 2002, Dolci has fast created its very own Cipriani "scene" thanks to its chic ambiance, attentive service and well-priced Venetian menu. The restaurant offers all day casual dining, and the bar has become a lively after work meeting place, renowned for its charming bartenders and sensational tower of prosciutto.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Fancy ambience in a busy Grand Central Station. Italian atmosphere and a great choice of fine Italian dishes. Unfortunately, Italian hospitality that we are used to in Europe was not equally apparent. Only the tip mattered. This is for business lunches and not for tourists."

  • "Service was outstanding... we were on a rush and they took care of us quicky! Ordered pasta to share between 3 and the amount was more than satisfactory. I specially recommend the artichokes and the arrabiatta sauce."

  • "Small (or rather normal) but packs enough flavor to satisfy the hungriest soul. Great atmosphere but tightly packed space. It is not overwhelming though because of the view of grand central bustle. Enjoy."

  • "This place is great for lunch especially if you are coming off the metro-North. The staff is very professional and friendly."

  • "Service mediocre at best. Food was dissapointing. Chicken Marsala looked like backwater Chinese food. Chopped mixed pieces of dark and white meat. Filet was overlooked. Quality of steak was terrible. Have come here regularly because of ambience, but why waste a meal. Get a drink but skip the meal. Or, better yet go to a neighboring restaurant in Grand Central. Overpriced. Under served. Undeserving of Cipriani name. Avoid this place."

  • "They were severely overbooked and although we had a specific reservation time... We had to wait nearly a half hour for our table."

  • "The food at Cipriani Dolci was DISGUSTING!! The eggplant parm. was burnt and mushy. I sent it back for endive and avocado salad and they served it all chopped up like a dip. This is a very pricey place to go for lunch ($70) and the food was not worth half that price. They ought to consider hiring a real chef. I would NEVER go there again or recommend the place to anyone. On the positive side, the waiters and hostess were exceptional."

  • "I would highly recommend Cipriani Dolci for a special occasion or a romantic evening. Yes, there's some noise but the view just makes you want to swoon! Great food and friendly service. I will return."

  • "I took my mother to Cipriani Dolci for her 89th birthday NYC trip. We were seated at the corner table directly overlooking the grandeur of Grand Central. The food, service, and ambiance were all just a joy. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. "

  • "Single view having dinner inside Grand Central Station, with a Cipriani experience."

  • "I come here often because of the convenience, but it is loud and the tables are a little too close for comfort.....but I keep coming back. Great for a view of the confusion at Grand Central without being part of it. Service is fast and efficient. Food is passable but slightly pricey, but the view is what you are paying for."

  • "Cipriani has a reputation. Be that various locations in the city or Miami, or Italy for that matter. I like the food, ambiance (whats not to like dining on the upper level of Grand Central) but not sure why this restaurant group continues to woo customers and bring them to it's doors. The food is average and not spectacular , the service is very good. I don't know why I continue to go to any of the Cipriani's but it's deffenetly a "go to" when I am indifferent. "

  • "Special drinks and an impressive view of Grand Central station. Sit like royalty in one of America's castles. Enjoy the fresh Bellini and watch the world pass by. A great experience overall. "

  • "This fun spot overlooking the Grand Central Station vibe is not cheap; but the staff makes a serious effort to serve tasty food - especially the Cipriani favorites (carpaccio, chicken curry, etc.). Waitstaff are kind to children who are polite and quiet. There's a limited choice of wines by the glass, but the house wine is very good. Desserts, of course (a selection daily) are yummy. Don't go for a quiet tete a tete, but this is a wonderful slice of New York if you have visitors who want to see the hustle bustle of the transportation hub. "

  • "Cipriani - Dolci is a great place to have a quick dinner prior to heading back out to the burbs and after a long day at work. the service staff is friendly, the food is great and the atmosphere is fun. Who would have known that sitting above the hustle of Grand Central Station could be so nice."

  • "Unfortunately, had a poor experience. We did the restaurant week deal and my dish was overcooked and had little flavor. THe service was poor. Very disappointing as I have heard good reviews of this restuarant. On the up side, dessert was excellent - some kind of lemon chiffon cake."

  • "I would only recommend this restaurant because of the great views looking over Grand Central Station. What I didn't understand was how they prepared my dish. I ordered pasta with bolognese sauce which was brought out in a large serving bowl on a tray and then the waiter preceded to scoop out half to my plate and half to another plate that was going to a different table. It was bland, slightly warm and the pasta was undercooked. The food was less than average and expensive, but I'm sure that's due to the location."

  • "Grand Central Station is a spectacular place to have dinner with friends! And the food is excellent!"

  • "Uninspired selections at over the top prices. Skip the menu and go straight to the desert tray. Their signature cake is lovely."

  • "The food is really delicious, the service is wonderful and what could be better than dining in Grand Central Terminal?? But unless you get one of the tables right at the railing, you're very crowded in and it's way too expensive for a meal in a train station."

  • "We treated out-of-town friends to dinner at Cipriani-Dolci as it was convenient to all. Many were taking advantage of Restaurant Week so while it was not a long wait to be seated, it was a tight squeeze to get into our table. The non-bench seats were in the narrow aisle which was used by waitstaff carrying trays and diners looking to be seated which made for a crowded feeling. The servers were pleasant and attentive and the food was good, but it was more about the taste than the portions. If you are looking for generous plates of food perhaps this may not be the place to dine--tastes great, less filling!"
    Dined on 3/6/2014
  • "The choice from the restaurant week lack excitement. Of the 3 course meal the dessert was memorable. A coffee dessert cake."
    Dined on 3/7/2014
  • "We had reservation, but table wasn't ready. We waited for 20 min. It was too crowded and noisy. Food came 30 min wait, and it was already cold and taste was not good enough."

  • "Well I was expecting a really a great time for my birthday lunch celebration with my family (4 all together) but it didn't work out; instead of enjoy the place an food as per many great reviews we were rushed all along not sure if because they were busy or the fact that we were dining from the restaurant week menu. The restaurant itself is very crowded and with a really cold weather we had you have to layer up and at the time of sitting it was very uncomfortable trying to take out our coats, there s not much room as it is for you to move and/or you need to be very careful to avoid hiting the people on the next table or to knock out somethig else. Maybe Spring & Summer will be a better time to pass by."

  • "Very fun location as it's inside Grand Central Station. Lucky enough to have gotten a table with a direct view of the middle of Grand Central Station. We were able to take advantage of Restaurant Week, so a prix fix lunch @ $25. Not a lot of food, but really just enough. Would definitely go back again. It is noisy, however, but that's part of the ambience!"

  • "Food and service was good but felt like we had people standing over us while waiting to be seated and our seats and table kept getting bumped as people passed on their way to their tables. A little too cramped to a completely enjoyable experience."

  • "We went for restaurant week and the menu was not impressive, the portions much smaller than usual. I wouldn't recommend it. There are so many better places!"

  • "very hectic--but what do you expect for the middle of Grand Central? Had to wait 15 minutes for my reservation--but the Matre'd handed me a Bellini on the house--nice guy! Got a table right at the front of the balcony-- the greatest view. Had the restaurant week manu--the best was the dessert-a tiramisu in a tulip shaped chocolate cup!"
    Dined on 3/4/2014
  • "The food was very basic and the presentation incredibly poor. Even if it is for restaurant week they should make an effort to present better. The side order rice pilaf was plain rice on a plate withy noting added, no presentation at all ! Horrible. I was overall very disappointed."
    Dined on 3/4/2014
  • "I had necer written a review, but I felt the need to do it. The food was meh. Overpriced. Definitely not what we expected. Does not live up to the "Cipriani" name."

  • "Restaurant Week chicken lunch inedible. Beyond disappointed. Never returning to Cipriani again"

  • "Based on reputation and pricing expected more at this restaurant. Surprised by the plastic ware and overheard another customer ask the waiter who said they were having hot water issues and could only stay open by using the disposable plates etc. I told the waiter they should let people know before they are seated as it really takes away from the experience. The food was OK, service just OK too."
    Dined on 3/2/2014
  • "Upon arrival, we were told that, due to a hot water issue, we would have to dine with plastic plates, which was fine. I used to be a waitress, so I understand that these things happen, however I was not expecting the chef to use that as an excuse to abandon presentation. Our entrees came out with the meat on one plate and side on another, like we were eating in a cafeteria. I ordered Chicken Spezzatino , and they served me some concoction that looked like the free samples of Cajun chicken that Chinese restaurants give away in food courts, and I tasted pretty similar to that as well. To top it all off, our waiter was rude and inattentive. He walked away from me when I was asking a question and took too long to bring coffee and the check."

  • "We made reservations through Restaurant Week and no one called to confirm, thankfully that wasn't an issue when I got there. The dishwasher was broken so this fine dinning establishment was serving everything on plastic plates and with plastic silverware, which would have been nice to know before we got to the restaurant (to their credit, they did tell us when we were being seated but it was too late to go find somewhere else since we were starving), and the food was sub-par. The Chicken Marsala was little chunks of chicken with Marsala sauce that wasn't great, and no mushrooms or anything else. The "rice pilaf" was simple white rice, and the veggies weren't seasoned, just plain steamed. Bland and underwhelming."
