"Read some great reviews on Yelp which persuaded us to try Ciopinno's, but sadly our experience was disappointing.

We had 4 adults and 3 kids. The kids were served first and had long finished their meals by the time the adults were served. I was hoping the food would be worth the wait, but it was just ok. I ordered the snapper which was fine, but it was swimming in butter and oil on the plate.

The restaurant did not seem overly crowded and there appeared to be sufficient wait staff on hand. Not sure why the meal took so long, but having to wait that long greatly detracted from the overall experience. The waiter only mentioned that the food would be "coming right out" once, but did not apologize or offer any explanation."

"We had 8:15 reservations for six with three being children we were greeted and seated promptly in this lively spacious restaurant. Our waiter was very friendly and fun. Our meals were wonderful and the wine fantastic! Such a great location if you are staying near the wharf!! We will certainly come back again someday!!"

"Great table with view by windows upstairs! Very accommodating. I am gluten free, but did not order any of pasta dishes, as the sauces seem a bit ordinary. Would have like to see a pesto or some other fresh sauce with garlic, spinach, shrimp and olive oil with GF pasta. The cioppino was the best. Loved it. I have already recommended it to local Bay Area friends and out of town guests who are going to be around Fisherman's Wharf. Great meal and attentive service. We split the large cioppino and mixed green salad. Had one of the trio wine tasting 2 oz.each 3 for $10. Red or white available on trio tasting. Nice meal and evening.

Finish the meal off with Irish Coffee at Buena Vista Cafe around the corner afterwards."

"Cioppino's continues to shine as one of the best restaurants in the Wharf area of SF. Outstanding seafood, pasta, and steaks! The Ciopppino is arguably the best in town. Of note, the wait staff is outstanding. They are friendly, always on their toes, and they have obviously been properly trained in the art of serving. This is the fourth visit for us and we won't venture anywhere else in the immediate area. You'll easily drop $60.00 - $80.00 for two, but it's well worth it. Oh....almost forgot! If you skip the Clam Chowder, you are a fool. It's the best we've ever had. Bravo to Cioppino's! We'll spread the word."

"I came here twice on my trip to San Francisco. :) I would say get the special Cioppino's dish in regular. The large size is quite big and I wasn't able to finish it. Has a lot of various seafood meats and the broth was amazing."

"This restaurant has potential to be not just another place at the Wharf. I had the steamed clams infused with fennel. Very tasty. The spaghetti sauces were the problem area. The meat sauce and marinara sauce looked and tasted over cooked. The pasta itself was cooked a bit more than al dente. The portions are ample. Clam chowder was a bit thick but tasty. Service not really friendly but efficient. The servers attitude could make you feel rushed."
