CioppinoPhenomenal food and great serviceThis restaurant was recommended to me by a local and it was fantastic! The oysters, tuna tartare and beef carpaccio were very fresh and tasted great. There are four of us and some us ate steak and some ate the fresh fish - both were delicious. We finished the meal with a dessert sampler which was decadent. I will definitely be back and would highly recommend this restaurant.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely find!We enjoyed ourselves immensely. The oil dip before the meal is so amazing I bought some to take home. We had the signature cioppino dish, which was fantastic. We also had the crab cakes which were crispy and crunchy and light and delicious. The only things that fell a little flat were the hostess who seated us, who had the personality of a banana slug, and the dessert, a brownie in a vanilla sauce, which was a bit boring and dry. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was great. Portions wereFood was great. Portions were a little on the small side which is my only criticism.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMreal solidTimesPar So Good, Love The Food, LoveThe Dessert. I LoveThis Place, I WouldTellAnyoneTo Go Here FOr An Upscale Dinner, At A Pretty Goo Price. I've Never Had A Sub Par Meal, And I've Eaten Here More Than A Few Times5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a great experience.Always a great experience. Great service and incredible food!!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic dining experienceThe 4 of us enjoyed our delicious dinners at Cioppino. We were given complimentary dishes of polenta which were absolutely terrific. I have never been a fan of polenta but, I will definitely be a fan of Cioppino's polenta from now on. I had a thick, juicy pork chop served with braised cabbage and potatoes. All I can say is that it was very, very delicious. The serving size was very generous. My friend had the pork chop dinner, as well, and loved it . The men had the seafood dish called Cioppino which they raved about. What we especially liked was the smooth jazz trio playing in the bar. We were able to enjoy the music in the dining area and it really added something special to the atmosphere. We cannot wait to go again!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBoth the food and the ambianceBoth the food and the ambiance were perfect -- a wonderful evening. Also the jazz on Saturday nights is a great touch! Thank you!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed our first, butWe enjoyed our first, but probably not last, dining experience at Cioppino. We had an early reservation, so the restaurant was fairly quiet, with the hum of other diners not noticeable until we were almost ready to leave. Service was attentive and friendly. Food was generally beautifully presented and quite good. We both regretted being too full to even share what looked like some intriguing chocolate desserts. My biggest criticism is that the tables for two are too small for two diners. Our waitperson had to rearrange the table several times to accommodate plates and wine. He did not offer offer a chiller for the chardonnay, but there was hardly room for it.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a very good experienceWe had a very good experience on Saturday night. Food was excellent and the service coukd not have been any better. A very loud tablecame in and the staff apologized many times and gave us complimentry salads and a desert.
I would highly recommend Cioppino's and look forward to returning in the future.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food. Not much off theGood food. Not much off the radar, but what they have is very good.
Tuna Tartara was interesting, worth a look. Aside from that pretty much your standard Italian food, done very well.
Definitely a hoity toity crowd, but that's to be expected when you're going $65/person. We sat in the main dining room and it was pretty noisy. Definitely not cozy or private. Which isn't all bad because that affords you the opportunity to people watch.
The wine list was three pages long; the beer list was about three beers long. But they had East End's Big Hop so it could have been worse.
I'd go back again if it weren't so expensive, but at these prices I'm going to choose something more adventurous.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed an excellent dinnerEnjoyed an excellent dinner of veal chop and mahi mahi. The sommelier recommended a fabulous pinot noir to compliment our meals. We were celebrating a 60th birthday and it is one dinner we will both remember.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't say enough about ourCan't say enough about our dinner. GREAT SERVICE, GREAT FOOD, GREAT ATMOSPHERE. Loved my whole dining experience and so did my friends. The service was exceptional.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant. Food wasGreat restaurant. Food is just good. A bit pricey for what you get but I guess chefs need to eat too.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place continues to amazeThis place continues to amaze me. I have been here several times and each time is as good as the last. The food is so fresh, the wait staff so attentive and restaurant is very comfortable. I will be back again soon3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMCioppino is in a renewed areaCioppino is in a renewed area of Pittsburgh. It has a broad, primarily Italian-based menu that has something for everyone. I had the veal chop (perfect) and my wife had crab cakes accompanied with a great bottle of pinot (Domaine Serene). Topping off the evening was a great cigar and espresso in the cigar bar.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Foodie ExperienceVery creative food - even my food allergies did not daunt them; my food was as creative as everyone else's. our server was a gem - described the food with verbal flair; was attentive without being in our faces all the time. Can't wait to go back. Complimentary valet parking was an unexpected treat.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was the second time myThis was the second time my boyfriend and I ate at Cioppino, and everything was somehow even more fantastic than the first time. This time, I ordered the duck and my boyfriend ordered the lamb--both were fabulous! Another great touch to the dining experience was the fact that the chef came out of the kitchen and visited each table to make sure everyone was enjoying their food. Our waiter was very attentive and the ladies at the welcome desk were very nice (in fact, we showed up 40 minutes early for our reservation, and they still seated us right away).3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGood for adults. Good food,Good for adults. Good food, atmosphere but pricey.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMRon is the best server ever.Ron is the best server ever. He know what we drink and brings it without asking. His knowledge of the specials enables him to describe each ingredient and it's preparation in detail.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWent here for cigar bar.Went here for cigar bar. The food was a pleasant surprise. The menu was unique, not your typical "run of the mill ". The wine list was ok reasonably priced. Our server was knowledgable and personable The chef came out to each and every table to ask how our meal was. Later he gave us a desert sampler, on the house. I was impressed to say the least. I will definitely be going back again, not just because it has a great cigar bar, but because the food was as good as any restaurant in Pittsburgh3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMNew York style in PittsburghFood was well innovative and prepared. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meal. Will definitely return.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLove it!This was a second visit for us and it did not dissappoint. Interesting and varied chef specials in all categories. Other than the soup/salad course, we chose from the specials: 2 different raw appetizers that were unbelievable. then my husband had duck cassoulet and I had a more asian style preparation of John Dory. So very different but both very good! Shared dessert was a caramel panna cotta with mini pecan tartlets-Yummy! Excellent server. Can't wait for visit number three!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've always enjoyed everyWe've always enjoyed every meal and overall dinning experience at Ciopinno...looking forward to our next visit.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and supberbExcellent food and supberb service. Definitely one of the best restaurant experiences I've had in Pittsburgh.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMA 'gem', waiting for a neighborhoodIt's kind of out there by itself, waiting for the neighborhood to develop, but once you get inside the atmosphere is what you expect from a modern, upscale restaurant. We have eaten there several times, always ordering a seafood entre, and always happy with it. The wine list is interesting and service is prompt and professional. If there were a neighborhood,Cioppino would be the 'gem'. It's worth a visit.3/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
