Cinghiale - OsteriaTaste of Italy with decor to boot!Extensive Wine list from all over the world. Fresh hand made bread right in the open for all to see. Food and courses were laid out in the authentic Italian style. It felt like I was in Italy again!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingThe service, food, and entire evening was wonderful!6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMCinghiale TreasureAs a group, we dine out at a different upscale restaurant monthly not often eating at the same establishment. However, the experience and food at Cinghiale will bring us back for additional occasions in the future. Great food and great service.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWagyu Hangar Steak and MascarponeWagyu Hangar Steak and Mascarpone cheesecake were excellent! Service was outstanding. Other selections were good, but not as outstanding as expected or for the price.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, service, and atmosphereGreat food, service, and atmosphere, although too noisy. The Tuna Tartare and Crispy Mushrooms & Onions were delicious; the asparagus & mozzarella was surprisingly uninteresting. The pork special was very good as were the sweetbreads. The desserts did not live up to the rest of the meal. Superlative winelist specializing in Italian Reds. All in all a very fine experience.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFab food n wineChinghale really delivers! It's a terrific food and wi e experience. The server recommended an awesome wine and was incredibly knowledgable about the menu. Kudos to Tony Foreman and Cindy Wolf!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticThe waitress was very knowledgable and pleasant and the food was fantastic. We will def. go again.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food, "too much" serverThe food was the outstanding guest at our birthday dinner. Salads were fresh, salmon appetizer was just the right size. the soft crabs were flash fried, crunchy but you could still taste the delicious crab. Desserts were varied and all good. the drawback of the evening was the server. Overall the service was excellent but the lead server was very intrusive. He repeatedly interrupted conversations to ask about the menu, how was the food, how was the service, did we need anything else. These questions are all fine but a good server should be intuitive enough not to continually interrupt. We very much appreciated the maitre de recognizing our request for a quiet area of the restaurant so we could visit with each other.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMLively upscale diningLots of energy floods this restaurant but it doesn't wash away the wonderful taste of the food. I had a pasta dish that I will dream about. Perfect portion size, great service. We enjoyed having cheese entree, as most restaurants do not accommodate this.
"We'll be back"5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was fine and differentFood was fine and different than the normal so it was a nice experience to have some different fare. However, it seemed to take an abnormally long time for them to reset our table when one of our party had to cancel at the last minute.(how long does it take to remove a place setting?)
Also our server passed by our table very often but the time in between his visits to our table also seemed to be unneccessarily extended. Also main dining room was very noisy and not great for hearing anything your dining companions had to say.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMSublte Regional Italian MenuGreat deal of attention and care given to selection of ingredients. Pasta is perfectly Al Dente, salads precisely dressed Vegetables are often the star of the plate. Cannellini beans with a rabbit confit were perfectly cooked. Flavors are subtle allowing natural elements to shine through. Misto of salamis, although of excellent quality (esp. fennel salami) could have benfited from a side of arugala to balance out strong flavor. Wine represents all regions of Italy; a matched flight option with courses would be appreciated however. Cheese selection is regionally diverse, but once again could benefit from some grapes or figs to balance out flavors. The appearance of rabbit on the menu was a pleasant suprise.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall top restaurant in BaltimoreFood is pretty good, but what really makes the restaurant stand out is the service.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe helpings were not so largeThe helpings were not so large as most restaurants which was a nice change. The food was excellent. I left with a full stomach but not stuffed as I often do. There is a step up/down to the large dining room to the right. My friend almost fell going down even though he had been advised of the step when entering. This is the major thoroughfare and not easy to see!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMCinghiale Still RatesAfter a long absence, I returned to Cinghiale a few evenings ago for a client dinner. It did not disappoint. Service was over the top - perhaps a little too much service, as there were two people taking our order! The food, which is why I go there, was excellent. An egg and asparagus soup was deliciously "herbed" and even on a warm night it was delectable. The breads, especially the foccaccia, was terrific in the tasty olive oil we received. My main course of soft-shell crabs was as good as they come, with fresh asparagus underneath. I like this place and I like the owners, but I find that it is somewhat over-priced and no wonder, given the number of service personnel on the floor. A good special occasion restaurant given the prices.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous food! This is a terrific restaurant; great food, great vibe, super wine list, attentive service. We tried the special tasting menu, with wine pairings and it was very, very good. LOVED THIS PLACE! A very good choice for a special occasion although people on a budget might cringe.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect EveningWe decided to spend Mother's Day enjoying dinner and a movie, and got a reservation for four at Cinghiale at the last minute through Open Table. We had heard great things about Cinghiale from foodie friends. The service was notable-- we were joking that each person had a personal server and each course had a different server. The food was delicate, fresh, seasonal, and flavorful. We all loved our choices and argued that they were the best, but the bruschetta with mushrooms of the forest and the rhubarb cheesecake were unanimous favorites. The atmosphere was understated -- elegant, yet casual & friendly. The view from our table was like a bright painting of colorful yachts with flags flying. Really, really good. We will definitely return.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't wait to return. EveryCan't wait to return. Every dish was spectactular!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBest ever! This was our best dining experience ever. The food was perfect and the service exceptional. Keep up the great work David G and Tony F.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was terrific as always. It was terrific as always. Informed and attentive wait staff, great wine, welcoming management at the door.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I probablyMy husband and I probably had one of the best meals of our lives here. The service was outstanding. The waiter was helpful and had extensive food and wine knowledge. My food allergies were even accommodated on a busy Saturday night. We are already looking forward to returning soon!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom the Island of enchantmentDid my study well since it was for my wife's birthday and we loved the fixed price options for 3 or 5 courses at a very reasonable price. Since the owners also ran one of the more traditional and best rated restaurant next door, I knew I could expect quality. They have half portions for the pastas and since my wife like to share plates, it was auspicious. Th flavors were defined but not overpowering. The service was knowledgeable, (they had a preservice meeting to discuss the menus of the day), they were courteous but not intrusive, never felt rushed.. My table had a gorgeous view of the bay. Our guests from NY were impressed and that's not easy to do for New Yorkers.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDisappointedWe have eaten here before and returned for a special anniversary dinner. Very nice atmosphere, great wine selection w/ advice, and great service. Disappointed w/ food this time-expensive, small portions and nothing exceptional, in fact somewhat dull. Small bruschettas and pastas were boring; dessert was much better. Will think again about going there for a special night out.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dining experienceFood was exceptional and service was attentive without being intrusive. On the pricey side but worth it.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMCingahiale is great funFun evening and a perfect atmosphere for a great time4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent ItalianDelicious menu that is always changing. Lots of options for prix fixe or a la carte. There is a more casual area to sit near the bar or a white table cloth/fancy section. Just depends what you're in the mood for.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food and IMPECCABLE ServiceCinghiale-Osteria is my in my top three list for fine dining in Baltimore. I love this place. The food is impeccable, and the fabulously trained waitstaff is the icing on the cake. Every person who approaches your table is excellent: observant, attentive, informed, articulate. The staff notice everything, and anticipate much. They collaborate extremely well. It's too bad this is so uncommon as to be worth noting, but there you have it. Bad service can ruin an otherwise great dining experience, and that's not likely to happen at Cinghiale.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe found this gem from a friend'sWe found this gem from a friend's referral as he lives down here in Baltimore and we are both from NYC.We had the price fix meals and the selection was very good relative to what we are use to in NYC.The service was impeccable as we needed to order and eat in less than a hour as we had an venue to go to.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and serviceExcellent food and service but smallish portions hurt thwe price/value of the retsaurant.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe focus on service was completelyThe focus on service was completely refreshing, and really makes Chinghiale stand out.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMCinghiale is the spot forCinghiale is the spot for a special occasion splurge. Everything we ordered was executed perfectly. Portions were not overly large but were more than adequate, especially if ordering a multi-course pre-fixe meal. The wine list is very extensive and all -Italian, as appropriate. The wait staff was attentive but not cloying and was knowledgable, particularly the sommelier, who helped us select the perfect accompaniment to our meal. Don't expect to get off lightly in terms of your wallet, but the entire experience was memorable and well worth the money!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was outstanding nearlyThe food was outstanding nearly flawless the service however, was a bit pedestrian.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely room, great menu, greatLovely room, great menu, great food. The risotto was memorable4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMEaster Prix Fixe a Foodie DelightEaster special was a real bargain...crowds were minimal, tone subdued....a great evening to enjoy the food, service and person you came with! Love skate -- haven't seen it on a Baltimore menu and coupled with spargel (white asparagus)...wonderful surprise as part of the prix fixe menu and the deserts were excellent too. Cinghiale is a favorite of mine but the chef pushed the bar up with this holiday celebration.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMNot the least expensive placeNot the least expensive place but the space is delightful, the food is interesting, the wine list extensive, and the service is remarkable.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service, deliciousExcellent service, delicious food and presentation.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe celebrated our 35th weddingWe celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary there -- the food was wonderful and the servers were fantastic.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFood preparation is top notchFood preparation is top notch and the floor staff is friendly and very professional.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI eat here whenever I am inI eat here whenever I am in town. I love introducing this restaurant to friends. Free valet parking is a plus, although I found street parking with no problem for an early dinner. Although some items on the menu may be unfamiliar, in my experience it's safe to try something new here. I've never had a bite of food I didn't love.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, dinner was delightful. As always, dinner was delightful. From the prosciutto to the gnocchi to the duck to the sorbetto, the meal was delicious. Service was prompt, server was fun not stuffy. I always leave looking forward to the next visit.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went as a group of fourWe went as a group of four young professionals. The menu was difficult to read/understand despite having a translation - many of the ingredients were authentic Italian and foreign to us. The waiters were very on point, coming to our table to see if we had questions. I did not like my dish and put it closer to the middle of our table so the others could try it (they thought it was okay). Our waitress asked if something was wrong with the dish, I explained no, I just was not a fan of it. She apologized and offered to take it back and bring out a new dish of my choice. We were running late to a movie, so I did not order something new. The restaurant removed that dish from our bill as well. Excellent service, I would go back!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was the fourth time atThis was the fourth time at Cinghiale and the food is consistently a standout. The atmosphere is very comfortable. The service is a bit rushed, though.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good overall ItalianVery good overall Italian fare. Well priced for what you get.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMService was slow getting startedService was slow getting started on Saturday night, but the restaurant was packed.
