Cigale CafeGreat Evening at Cigale Cafe!We went here to celebrate several family birthdays last Saturday and, once again, ate well and drank well all in a beautiful setting. We'll be back soon!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAttention to detailCigale is one of those neighborhood gems that keeps you coming back. Have been here several times with my husband and have always found the food and service to be outstanding. what could be bad, dinner starts off with complimentary pom frites and a basket of warm foccacia type bread. There is something for everyone on the menu which includes, chicken, fish and beef dishes. The Paella, is absolutely delicious, loaded with seafood and definitely big enough to share. Beef bourguignon is fork tender and loaded with flavor. The chefs french influences shine through in every dish. A somewhat limited wine list so feel free to bring your own as corkage is only $10. Make sure you leave room for their amazing chocolate windmill cake.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food, Great Place!I took my wife and children to Cigale to celebrate Mother's Day. The food and service could not possibly have been any better. My only gripe...which is a minor one is that this fantastic restaurant is located in a strip mall next to a Subway! Other than that, Cigale is one of those places you simply need to try...5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely Mother's DayMy daughter, her husband, and I took my wife to Cigale to celebrate Mother's Day. We received a friendly greeting upon arrival, we were seated promptly, and our waitress appeared shortly to take our drink order. Free champaign-type drinks for the moms, with separate drink orders for dads. The moms enjoyed their drinks and the dads theirs. My Gibson was excellent. We all ordered different entrees which were well-prepared and presented, and of very good quality. Overall, a first-rate dining experience at a good price for what you receive in exchange. Finally, although the place was a bit noisy, it was much less so than most of the upscale restaurants I've visited in the area. This was my first visit, but I expect to return many times.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and the service wasThe food and the service was excellent. We visit the restaurant quite often and have found the food to be excellent each time.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a surpriseBlown away at finding such a gem in the middle of a bedroom community.
Worth the drive from anywhere in the LA and Ventura County.
Just hope they don't start tweaking and changing a single think.....and get away from what they have created.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a great local restaurant. This is a great local restaurant. Sometimes not very busy, but I don't know why. We have been to Cigale several times, and it is always very good and the service is terrific. On this particular occasion, I requested a special dessert for my son's birthday, which they accommodated graciously and deliciously.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMCigale Cafe RocksWe love this restaurant. We have moved away, and at least 4 times a year when we are visiting the area where Cigale is, we will be eating there. It is just the best, most perfect restaurant you could hope for. They have added a couple of outdoor settings, with upscale furniture lounge style, and a nice group exterior spot . This place rocks. Don't miss it.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice. I took severalVery nice. I took several business cards to give to friends.Suggest discount dinner coupons. Nothing big, but people really will go and use them.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMA rare French find.It is, in our opinion, difficult to find a good French restaurant outside of major cities. We were luck to find this "Gem". We had the beet salad and the onion soup which were both delicious. We shared the beef bourgione and the duck entrees. I recommend the beef, which had a certain special ingredient that the chef confirmed was part of the recipe. The duck was a bit too dry for my taste, but the l'orange sauce was very good. Both portions were generous. I appreciate that the chef does all the cooking and it showed in his food and presentation. We will definitely return when we are back in the Thousand Oaks area.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, my dining experienceAs always, my dining experience at Cigale was absolutely seamless. A cheery greeting; delightful, prompt and helpful service from waitress to support staff (they are far too polished to be called "busboys"), and the food... Denys created a Halibut with Lobster Sauce that was flavorful, moist, done to perfection, complemented by a fluffy vegetable couscous. Add wine, spinach salad and an indulgent dessert (shared with a friend), flourless chocolate cake. Loved every minute. We arrived at 6pm and left at 10!
I recommend Cigale for any occasion, romantic or convivial. You really must go, and explore the menu!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food, nice atmosphereVery good food, nice atmosphere and perfect service. Attentive, friendly, yet unobtrusive.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent! Have been twiceExcellent! Have been twice and both times were great! Fantastic service, great food, my new neighborhood spot.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first visit to CigaleOur first visit to Cigale which was recommended by friends was a great experience. We opted for their special 5-course shared special (Tues-Thurs) It gives you the option of one item from their menu of appetizer, salad, soup, entree, dessert which is split between two for $62. What a perfect way to try their food and the split portions were very generous. The corque monsiour was wonderful, the salad (goat cheese/spinach) had a delicate, tasty dressing, the french soup was delicious. We opted for the BOEUF BOURGUIGNON entree that came with mashed potatoes and two hearty sized pieces of beef each - tasty but a tad too salty. For dessert we enjoyed crepes suzette.
