A word from Cielo's Tapas and Oyster Bar
Many people wonder what Cielo means. Translated from Spanish it has 2 meanings. Sky or Heaven, we prefer the latter as you will be when you try our Famous Bruschetta. It has been on the menu since Cielo’s opened.
For close to 20 years Cielo’s has offered you a late night lounge, intimate dining room, a romantic setting and warm comforting meal all rolled into one. Expect to be treated as family!
Cielo’s menu offers a variety of old world flavours infused with new world twists. Featuring fresh, local and sustainable choices. As well as an array of gluten free, nut free and vegetarian dishes to accommodate everyone.

Food, Drinks and service were all
very good. A little to dark hard to read the menus."

We ordered the following to
share: •‘Famous’ Bruschetta • Risotto • Steamed mussels • Seafood cakes with arugula and Feta cheese watermelon salad • Calamari • Prawns and scallops skewers The dishes I liked the best were the bruschetta and the risotto. The seafood cake was a little dry even with the remoulade. There wasn’t enough remoulade to go with the seafood cakes. The battered calamari was not crispy – very disappointing. There was no water was served until we asked. The service was a lot slower when restaurant was full. This was reflected in the wait time to order more food and to pay bill. The server did not show wine to customer & almost opened a bottle we did not order."

Had lunch here. Food was great
except for the fried bread that came with some of the dishes...chewy and no taste; and the calamari. Maybe old oil in the fryer? Both dishes had that slight over-used-deep fryer oil taste. What bothered us was that the waiter was constantly on his phone texting and whatever. Maybe he was trying to contact a manager, another staff member or just friends and what they were up to later . . doesn't matter. It shouldn't be done in view of the guest. So, we poured our own wine, our share plates and cutlery were not changed (and they were quite dirty; we had six dishes) sharing utensils for only two (we were four people), and my friend was not offered another cocktail. Again, food was great. Recommend the bruschetta."

Great food, excellent bartender!
Seating is a little cramped but makes for a good vibe!"

Have been more than a few times
now and am never disappointed in the menu, there is always something new and fresh. The bruschetta may be the best appy in Vancouver, flavour galore. Have been just for fun and for valentines day, it's a great little spot that never seems too busy."

The ambience on this winter
evening was perfectly cozy, rustic & romantic. The staff were attentive, personable and helpful with our menu selections. Our choices were the Korean short ribs which were tender & a delicious marinade was evident; the ocean crab cakes (with scallops & prawns) done to perfection, had a tasty aioli sauce with a creative salad that included watermelon chunks; & a truly amazing beef tenderloin poutine with tender sliced beef, homemade fries, cheese curds & rich demi-glace. The 3 tapa portions were ample food for 2 adults. We've been here several times before & will return again to relive the wonderful experience."

We had a most enjoyable evening,
service was friendly & efficient, the food was very good - I definitely recommend the Bruschetta, it was delicious & the portions generous. I look forward to visiting again for lunch."

Great food and ambience! One of
the very best on White Rock beach!"

Had dinner on a Friday night and
could not be happier with the time I had spent there. The food and service were both awesome, and great atmosphere. Will definitely return."
Dined on 1/31/2014
The service leaves something to be
desired. Evidently they haven't heard of two way waitering - the server would come over to take our order for drinks or other tapas but leave all the dirty dishes sitting there - my spouse started stacking them on the clean table next to us to free up some room! That being said, the food was really good - everything we ordered from the Bruschetta to the mussels was delicious and worth coming in for!."

We hadn't been to the White Rock
"strip" for quite some time. Thought we'd venture out & take the kids to try something new. It was a success! Food was great, the Poutine was the best! Sangria was yummy.. Service was good. It was a little on the pricy side, for tappas...but it was an all around enjoyable evening."

Much better experience than my
last visit. Service improved greatly. Food was fabulous as always!! Had items ive never tried and they were all incredible"

I guess you just need to know what
to know what not to order here."

We will be back for sure! The
sangria, crabcakes and flatbread were excellent and our waitress Rachel was very charming! Maybe some Latin inspired background music would add to the ambience! The overall atmosphere was cozy, warm and welcoming! We had a wonderful dinner! Thank you for making this evening very special!"

The food here was amazing! So good
that I would go back again despite the absolute horrible service that we had. We sat with empty drinks for the majority of our meal (which lasted a little over 3 hours as they were very slow), we couldn't find our server, and when he did walk by it was at a very brisk pace and he avoided eye contact. The food was very delicious though! I recommend the bruschetta, the tuna salad, and the lobster and cheese ravioli!"

It was the first timer for me at
Cielo's (Saturday, December 28th, 2013)and also a first in using Open Plate on-line reservations. Fabulous on all counts. We were slightly behind in our arrival bu still managed to get a great table by the window. My partner felt it was a little too dark from her seat and had to use a mini flashlight to view the menu. The atmosphere was definitely energetic and vibrant and the ambiance was warm with the fireplace. Great service, large portions for tapas....and delicious! Excellent service - very friendly staff who genuinely enjoyed interacting with patrons! We very much enjoyed our 2.5 hour stay and we'll definitely be back!"

A very enjoyable evening with
family and frieds. Bruchetta, mussels and Satay chicken were the hits of the night as well as friendly service. Our only complaint was that after asking if the mussel dish was indeed gluten free, since we had one in the group with a celiac disease, it came to the table with lovely mussels, and a huge hunk of bread on top of it. This was a big downer. Otherwise everything was very good."

Booked a table online nearly a
month in advance for my husband's birthday dinner. When we placed our order our waiter informed us we could only stay until 7:15 (we arrived at 6:15) as they were closing for a private party. No one from the restaurant informed me of this when I booked the reservation, if they had I wouldn't have booked it. An hour to order and eat dinner with our friends to celebrate a birthday? Hardly enough time. The food we received was good but being rushed out the door was not. So disappointed with Cielo's on this evening."

My first time there and the place
was absolutely awesome. Our server Nicki was an excellent host and will not hesitate to go back."
Dined on 12/16/2013
Very noisy and felt we were not
very welcome. Lousy table by the kitchen Will have to go back one more time because we have a gift certificate. Food was cold except for the Frittes."

Service was good, food was
excellent with one exception. The Trio of tuna had some grilled / raw in the middle ahi tuna that was very bland, just a little seasoning would have been nice. The brucheta bread made up for the tuna though!"

It was Rememberance Day and that
would account for the lack of ambience but I have to say the food was a big disappointment. We ordered the Wild Mushroom and Chorizio Flatbread. Well, there was lots of the Chorizio but we were only able to find three pieces of mushroom. We also ordered the Tuna trio....it was ok but the sliced raw tuna had been rolled in curry..way too strong..and did not go with the mild taste of the tuna at all. The two other tuna types were ok but certainly not as good as I had hoped. If you also consider that their wine is way over priced...the visit to this restaurant was a big let down. Charlie's and Uli's down the street were packed...in this restaurant we were one group of two eating. Tells you something I think."

The lamb is a must have, and the
Caesars are a meal unto themselves."

Perfect place to go with a group
to share a variety of dishes. Have never had anything I didn't like and I've had at least 10 items from the menu. Awesome food."

My wife and parents had a very
nice night out at Cielo's. Server was great and the food was really good"

Don't let the term Tapas fool
you....each selection could be shared by four people. The food was fantastic and the service was really good."

Dinner was delicious... service
was very friendly and food came out quickly..."

Went for a anniversary dinner – I
was told the bruschetta was excellent and it lived up to the hype. The oysters were fresh and the rest of the meal was quite good. I did however find that the lobster tortellini lacked a bit of punch but that may have to do with the other menu items we had that over powered it. Also had a Caesar which hit the spot, wish the beer menu was a little updated and moved towards the new trend of craft brews."
