Many people wonder what Cielo means. Translated from Spanish it has 2 meanings. Sky or Heaven, we prefer the latter as you will be when you try our Famous Bruschetta. It has been on the menu since Cielo’s opened.
For close to 20 years Cielo’s has offered you a late night lounge, intimate dining room, a romantic setting and warm comforting meal all rolled into one. Expect to be treated as family!
Cielo’s menu offers a variety of old world flavours infused with new world twists. Featuring fresh, local and sustainable choices. As well as an array of gluten free, nut free and vegetarian dishes to accommodate everyone.

  • "This was one of the best restaurants in White Rock. Food, service, and environment were excellent."

  • "I came there on Thursday evening, had reservations . the table wasn't set right first of all, the server completely ignored 2 friends and didn't take their order until we had to call her back over to the table. I ordered the jumbo prawns and scallops and YUK! for $15 a plate I got 3 prawns and 3 raw scallops in a watery plate that had no flavor what so ever."

  • "Our first time to Cielo's. Terrific service friendly staff. We had four dishes two were good two were so so. The veggie melody was mostly just beets and carrots and the bread and cheese platter although quite good somewhat over priced for what was there. Overall we quite enjoyed the restaurant and the atmosphere on the patio was just what we wanted. We will be back"

  • "I really enjoy this place. Something about it always draws me back. Love the tapas, love the variety on the menu, love some of the quaintness. Bruschetta, lambpops and oysters are great. The good far outweighs the small improvements that are needed to take this place one step further. Sticky tables, casual service that doesnt seem to have a process or rhythm to it, and a little too squishy. Anyone of these things could really turn someone off and it would be a shame because of the hidden greatness that this place could be. Its almost there, but im coming back anyway and i always bring friends."

  • "We made a last minute reservation for 7 people on a Saturday night for 6:30. The place doesn't really get going until around 8:30ish, so that's probably why we were able to get in. The server was excellent...gave lots of great suggestions and between the 7 of us, we probably had almost everything on the menu. We got around to wanting the mussels, but unfortunately, they sold out by 7:30! Snooze, you lose! The food is excellent and even though they refer to them as "tapas", the portions were generous enough for two people. Overall, great experience and we'll definitely be back!"

  • "We are from Texas and this is a must when anyone flies in to visit. Great food and love sharing with family and friends. We have been staying the entire summers to escape the weather in Houston. Everyone love it from the great state of Texas"

  • "A groupon brought us to the restaurant, however, the fantastic service, food, ambience will keep us coming back. REALLY enjoyed it and loved our dinner out. Highly recommend!!!!"

  • "Fun meal and great atmosphere. Great selection of tapas when dinning with friends who don't mind sharing, makes for a great tasting experience."

  • "Nice view. Bruschetta was good and 2 of the 3 lamp pops were juicy and cooked well ( the other one was half raw). The mussels were mediocre- it was not fresh. However, the scallops and prawns were the biggest disappointment. I paid 14 dollars for 3 measly scallops and prawns. Definitely a rip off... these were not fresh either. There was a funky smell when they came out. The waitress was friendly, but perhaps they would benefit from hiring another server to speed up the process. The food was better the first time I came. Will not be coming back."

  • "Cielo's, up until recently, had been my fave spot on Marine Drive. However, our last experience has left me not wanting to go back. I don't know if it was because we were using a Groupon but it was by far a less than ideal experience. Even though we had made reservations, our table was not one I would have chosen, as well, the food was just okay. The experience was definitely not what we had come to expect from this place."

  • "The restaurant was extremely busy and for a couple, as we were, it was extremely noisy and hard to talk. When I booked the reservation, I mentioned that it was for a birthday celebration. I also mentioned I wanted an intimate spot but that was not to be. We got the last available table in the middle of the restaurant. I was hoping for the birthday to be acknowledged but this did not occur either. A little disappointed... That being said food that was available was very good but unfortunately there was about 6 items on the menu that they had already ran out of by our reservation time of 7:45pm on a Tuesday. My advice would be to go to this restaurant early in the evening if you want full menu item choices..."

  • "We purchased a 5 course pre-fixed deal for four from groupon. The main dish (the reason we bought the Groupon) wasn't available. Also, other items listed on groupon were switched around and out menu was loaded with heavy bread items. We all got stomach aches after. Service was horrible. I guess they were understaffed (two waiter), but they simply forgot about is in the first half an hr and we weren't even offered water. Not kidding! After ordering drinks and water an waiting quite a bit for our drinks, water still never came. When it finally did, we never got refills after. The tile floor was extremely slippery and we almost fell a few times... And it has nothing to do with the drinks, remember, poor service! Not going back there again."

  • "Not sure how we missed this place for so long, but no longer. Cielo's is a great little restaurant with a large selection of tapas to suit everyone's tastes plus a oyster bar. Definitely worth making a special trip. "

  • "Cielo's never fails to impress. The bruschetta they're famous for was as always.... DIVINE! If you've had it before you know exactly what I'm talking about. Their sangria is quite good too -- a few years ago it was a lot better... It's not as good anymore but it's still really tasty. We had the macadamia scallops with bacon jam, red Thai curry vegetables, bruschetta (of course) and the Australian lamb pops. Everything was so good. It's all tapas there which makes ordering fun as you get to try a bit of everything. The lamb was so tender it almost melted in your mouth. We sat out on the patio (group of 3). It's a bit noisy with street traffic but you can't beat the view. Definitely a place worth returning to!"

  • "This is not my first time at Cielo's. Had the 5 course preset menu, was very tasty and the service was perfect. Wished the menu for the preset groupon was more flexible so we could have tried other items instead of a lot of bread items. Otherwise I have no complaint on taste, presentation and service. Everything was great!!!"

  • "This is the third time we have eaten at Cielo's in the past 2 months on special occasions. Never disappoints. Food is great, my kids like the creme brulee a lot. Lamb chops were great and so are the dips even for the fries. Will go back soon."

  • "The food was good especially the bruschetta. The young man that served us was terrific except for the fact that when I asked about the size of the oysters he said they were large. I was dismayed that when the table next to us ordered them they were small oysters. The other thing that was a little off putting was the inside if the menu had food on it. Overall it was a great evening and we would definitely go back. "

  • "I thought the groupon expensive for mostly salad items. You could only choice between 2 salads and a flatbread and one main dish which was small. And where were the oysters?. The view of course was superb if you were lucky enough to book a table with a view. We were stuck in the back it was dark and rustic. If I had known that we would have gone to a pizza place with available outdoor tables on such beautiful day as May Day was."

  • "we had a reservation and arrived on time, we waited 45 minutes before being served our salad, it was not the one we had ordered but by that time we were so hungry that we did not mention anything by fear of anymore delay. The food was good overall but the restaurant is very noisy and the service extremely slow although the restaurant was not full."

  • "Cielos has great food, which you do not have to order all at once. so when you've have enough to eat, you don't order any more."

  • "Food was good. Drinks expensive. We reserved with a request for a view but were put in the rather dark back of the restaurant instead. They screwed up one of our mains & we didn't have time to eat it & we were only given a gift certificate for a comp bruschetta with the purchase of another tapas dish. Not impressed. "

  • "I have dined at Cielo's many times before and was always very impressed with the taste and portions of the food. This time however, the portions were noticeably smaller and I wasn't impressed with the two new items we decided to try. Still a good restaurant with great ambience but I'm not sure I'll be rushing back like I used to. There was also an odd burning smell coming from the kitchen."

  • "I've always liked Cielo's. Sometimes it's noisy. In the past, the service, food, and atmosphere made up for it. This is no longer the case. When we arrived we were not even walked to our table, just pointed at it and said that's yours. Neither of us drink, and we got a "look" when we ordered water. Service was erratic all night, and the waitresses (all 2 of them) although otherwise polite and doing their best, were simply swamped by the busy restaurant. The noise level was ridiculous. Sure, it was a friday and there were a few bigger groups but it's not a romantic spot if you can't even talk to your companion. Lobster Tortellini was good. The brisket was tough, bland, and cold! The Sea cakes were burned. There are better spots out there."

  • "My boyfriend and I tried Cielo's after seeing it on groupon and purchasing a coupon for a prix fixe 5 course meal. The food was delicious and very rich. Especially loved the Bruchetta! and the Halibut wellington was different and very lovely. It was a tiny little restaurant and quite busy but only two servers for the entire place, so we did have to wait a while to be served, but it was still well worth it. Definitely try the calamari too!! I would go back to Cielo's in a heart beat!"

  • "This is our second visit while our first was very good with 3 people dining this time there were 6 of us and i would advise going with a group of that size or more so you are able to taste many more selections as each choice was fantastic. While not overly expensive if you are watching your dollars this place isn't for you because to get the most enjoyment out of it you are going to want to choose a large selection of items. The salt spring mussels were some of the best I have ever tasted."

  • "This was our 4th and last visit to this restaurant, the first two which were a couple of years ago were great but our 3Rd visit a year ago was bad and I put it down to an off night, however our visit last Friday confirmed that something has gone seriously wrong with this place. The food is mediocre, their famous bruccetta was hard and the presentation was awful. The scallop dish had to be sent back as it was burnt and had a strong fish odour. The place was packed and there appeared to be only 2 servers that were overworked and we struggled to get their attention. My advice, don't waste your money on this place."

  • "We ordered the following to share: •‘Famous’ Bruschetta • Risotto • Steamed mussels • Seafood cakes with arugula and Feta cheese watermelon salad • Calamari • Prawns and scallops skewers The dishes I liked the best were the bruschetta and the risotto. The seafood cake was a little dry even with the remoulade. There wasn’t enough remoulade to go with the seafood cakes. The battered calamari was not crispy – very disappointing. There was no water was served until we asked. The service was a lot slower when restaurant was full. This was reflected in the wait time to order more food and to pay bill. The server did not show wine to customer & almost opened a bottle we did not order."

  • "Had lunch here. Food was great except for the fried bread that came with some of the dishes...chewy and no taste; and the calamari. Maybe old oil in the fryer? Both dishes had that slight over-used-deep fryer oil taste. What bothered us was that the waiter was constantly on his phone texting and whatever. Maybe he was trying to contact a manager, another staff member or just friends and what they were up to later . . doesn't matter. It shouldn't be done in view of the guest. So, we poured our own wine, our share plates and cutlery were not changed (and they were quite dirty; we had six dishes) sharing utensils for only two (we were four people), and my friend was not offered another cocktail. Again, food was great. Recommend the bruschetta."

  • "Have been more than a few times now and am never disappointed in the menu, there is always something new and fresh. The bruschetta may be the best appy in Vancouver, flavour galore. Have been just for fun and for valentines day, it's a great little spot that never seems too busy."

  • "The ambience on this winter evening was perfectly cozy, rustic & romantic. The staff were attentive, personable and helpful with our menu selections. Our choices were the Korean short ribs which were tender & a delicious marinade was evident; the ocean crab cakes (with scallops & prawns) done to perfection, had a tasty aioli sauce with a creative salad that included watermelon chunks; & a truly amazing beef tenderloin poutine with tender sliced beef, homemade fries, cheese curds & rich demi-glace. The 3 tapa portions were ample food for 2 adults. We've been here several times before & will return again to relive the wonderful experience."
