We were seated at 6:20 for our 6:30 reservation. After repeated inquiries by us, the first dish for one of our children appeared at 7:35. We overheard two tables ask for their food in take out bags, because they had an engagement and could no longer wait and eat in. The service was non-existant to chaotic. Of the three servers in front, one did not even look at us. The other two (one of whom was very nice but new to the job) were not helpful. Once our food arrived, it was very bland. The chicken quesadillas came without chicken and the one dish we were looking forward to, never came and we had to ask that the charge be removed from the bill. Throughout, the restaurant was half full. An explanation or apology would have gone a long way.

Fantastic family owned upscale Mexican! Go there. The owners are very inviting and the fresh homemade food is sensational and creative compared to most. This is a treasure and much more affordable than many of the Napa hot spots.

Disappointed with the main dishes, mine came 'with beans' but there was hardly two teaspoons of beans on the plate, my husbands chicken fajitas were dry and they did not include the guacamole that was supposed to come with the dish. The waitress handled this poorly, she said she would tell the kitchen, but she made no apologies and there was no deduction on the tab, in fact we never saw her again! She made the busboy bring us the bill (even though she only had a couple of tables to look after), which took ages since he did not know how to operate the card machine. On the upside, the chips and salsa were good and I have had good dishes here in the past.

Do not be fooled by the outward appearance of this little cantina... the food was OFF THE CHARTS good. We had a party of 6 for late lunch on a Thursday; the service and food were fantastic. Note: they have a restricted liquor license, so beer and low level spirits are all they serve. No 'full strength' margaritas here. Still, the food and the quiet, authentic atmosphere make up for any perceived loss. What a LOVELY experience.

The food wasn't great and service was horible. It took over an hour to get. It was cold and one plate was completly wrong. On top of that I asked for tea refill several rtimes and never received it. I never write a bad review but I hope this helps them be better.

This was my first time at Cielito Lindo. We ate from the appetizer and salad menu so sampled 5 dishes. By far the tastiest item was the pork belly taco -- lots of flavor! The guacamole was very bland - we added the great salsa that was on the table. The first basket of chips that came was very greasy, so we asked for another - those were better. Also, guacamole was served with taro chips -- sorry, but those didn't work at all for us! The picadillo stuffed jalapenos came with a very heavy breading and quite bland filling. The salad, though, was excellent! It's a very pleasant place with great service and reasonable prices. If you need a spot near the Napa Opera House and in ,walking distance of the Uptown Theatre, this works.

  • While the food presentation

While the food presentation was lovely, the taste fell short. It seemed that the meat as not seasoned, that all the flavor was to come form the peppers and sauce. Also, as another reviewer mentioned, the rice is plain with no flavoR. I also found the black beans to be lacking in flavor.

This was my first time here. My friends had been to Cielito Lindo before. Food was delicious, however the service was incredible slow.... That was their experience previously.Too many restaurants in Napa that have great food and great service. They need to have more servers and a faster kitchen staff.

Upon walking in, I was skeptical, only a few tables and no one there. Never mind, the food was exceptional. I ate a couple of things that I normally don't try and was very pleased. My wife had one of their appetizers with the same outcome. The flan was as good as any we've had in Mexico. Wine list is not, but we brought our own.

  • On our way back from the wineries

On our way back from the wineries we stopped at Cileito Lindo for some mexican fare. We had the "Queso Fundido" as appetizer and that was really good. My colleague had the "Chile Relleno" and he said it was good. Meanwhile I ordered the Enchiladas with the Mole sauce, which were good although the chicken could have used more seasoning for flavor. The side dish was rice but it was plain white rice and not a more traditional yellow rice. Overall, the service was outstanding and friendly, and the food was in general good.

Wonderful upscale Mexican restaurant. Food is delicious, presentation beautiful, service (by famiiy members) excellent. We had scallop ceviche which was marvelous, served in small shells, the queso fundido with home made tortillas -- yum, the traditional chile relleno - excellent, and enchiladas. Their flan, which we had for dessert, was wonderfully creamy. Also, I had the best sangria I've ever had in a Mexican restaurant. We'll be back. (Want to try their brunch.)

  • I give this restaurant credit
    OpenTable Diner Since 2006VIP
    Dined on 11/24/2012
I give this restaurant credit for being a little "different" from the typical Mexican restaurant. However, the food is bland, completely lacking in flavor. The enchiladas were served warm room temperature but the plate itself was piping hot. Service was slow, the waitress was not familiar with the menu, and one of the dishes brought to the table was not what I ordered. Beer and wine only; the beer was not really cold, did not look at the wine list. Overall, not up to the caliber of a Napa Valley establishment. Fairly pricy.
