A word from Ciccio
In a former antique-shop located a few steps below ground level, Ciccio is a “little snuggery with a winning air of relaxed authenticity”. This Tuscan restaurant serves cuisine from Florence-born chef-partner Giacomo Romano in a room with rustic fixtures and whitewashed décor, so that the overall effect is of is in “some breezy farmhouse tavern you inadvertently stumbled upon while tooling about the Tuscan countryside”.

The food is deceptively simple. With local fresh ingredients, the chef serves up rustic Italian food that is simple and genuine. Small plates to share and signature dishes of fresh house-made pastas are made daily that aim to bring touches of Florence to this neighborhood hideaway.

Very well-prepared dishes, even if I was a bit surprised at how 'complicated' they were, considering Italian / Tuscanian food tend to have fewer ingredients in any given dish. A very lively place, with a good spirit.

If you haven't been here yet it's a great find. Delicious Italian that is so light and fresh. Lasagna is delicious! Came back again with another group of friends here. They were equally impressed as I was. This time we had tomato soup, meat plate, more pasta. Every bite we shared was delightful. Next time we will try dessert. Tiramisu.

This is a fantastic little spot with great food, a creative mixologist, and the friendliest staff in NYC. All if the pasta is made in house and the tiramisu was fantastic. Great seafood also and creative appetizers. Due to a communication mixup, my party was an hour late and they still politely held a spot for us.

I am so happy to have found Ciccio last weekend. I just moved to this area and have been exploring to find my "go to gem"... The one place I can go to with a late reservation with great food and service away from the chaos of NYC. This is it! We made a reservation on Sat afternoon for Sat night. The venue seems small from the outside but once you are in their is a great ambience and character to the restaurant that makes you feel comfortable. The food was so good that I'm still talking about it two days later. All of their pasta is made in house. We had the eggplant to start, spinach linguini and lasagna, and flourless chocolate cake. The service was just as great. I rarely give a review 5 stairs but this one tops the charts.

Solid place, lunch, brunch or dinner. Don't miss the vegetable lasagna, of course the meatballs ----- but really, everything is good without being flashy or trying too hard. There's a certain subtlety to flavors. Quality food and bang for buck; good wine list. Noise level may get pitchy when packed but food more than makes up for it. The food is so good that it's energizing and everyone I brought (friends, family, clients) gets swept away anyway and by end of the night, everyone is happy, fulfilled. Service is great; friendly yet still professional. Place gets packed pretty quickly in the night; reservations a must.

This was my second time at Ciccio, following up on terrific first meal there. Glad to report that the second time around was just as enjoyable. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived. The hosts were lovely and apologetic, even gave us a glass of Prosecco while we waited for lingering diners to pay their check. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly, recommended a great wine. We enjoyed the special house salad, baby octopus and roasted carrot salad, followed by awesome pastas (the beet ravioli especialy memorable) and cod with roasted veggies. Topped off with marvelous Tiramisu. We will be back!!!

Found this gem on NY Mag's "Critics Picks" list and decided to try it. I always have a good meal at a restaurant they highlight and Ciccio was no exception. The food was fantastic and the staff was amazing. Enrico and his team made me feel welcome from the minute I walked in, until the moment we left. I will be going back for lunch soon to spend some more time at this awesome place and to try some of their fabulous sounding sandwiches.

It's easy to miss Ciccio, tucked into an alcove below street level. Now that I've discovered it, I won't overlook it again. Lovely little restaurant with unique and flavorful Florentine dishes. My companion--Italian-American and very fussy--raved about the pappardelle with boar. My vegetable lasagna was divine--subtle yet memorable and not heavy. Fabulous cocktails and delicious appetizers, intriguing wine list. The place has a lively vibe but you can still hold a conversation without raising your voice. Knowledgeable and charming service. Generous portions and very reasonable prices.

I work a block away from Ciccio and frequent the place for lunch and more recently dinner as well! The staff is top :) Always put a smile on my face. The food is also amazing. Two of my faves: insalata carote and the famous meatballs. They're to-die-for! Note: they are one of the few places that makes shakerato's. I will be going back again and again, no doubt.

Ate here twice a month or so apart. Once later night when place was packed, another time for early dinner when it wasn't. Friendly reception from host/owner. Somewhat limited menu of nice home made Italian choices, with a local neighborhood bar/hangout feel, aided by the rabbit hole location downstairs (seats by the front window may have an edge here). Reasonable value, too. Feels like I should have driven up to the front door in my Vespa.

Tasty but stingy; for about half the price I would have said yes to recommending this restaurant to a friend. The tickets for the show we saw across the street at the SoHo Playhouse cost us much less! If we had it to do over, we would have gone for a slice of pizza and saved at least 35 bucks... and not left the place still hungry.

An adorable space, just the kind of cozy neighborhood joint you wish you could pop into for tasty food. Unfortunately, most was under-seasoned or poorly executed. Ribollita, pumpkin soup, and the eggplant appetizer were so bland we had to call for the salt and pepper mills; the baby octopus, however, was nicely seasoned and tender--definitely the best dish of the night. Pastas were competently prepared--good texture on the noodles, and meatballs were light. The apple cake--torta di nonna--was embarrassingly under baked, tasting of raw dough. I had hoped for something reminiscent of a Florentine trattoria, but the meal fell short.

We were visiting NYC for the weekend and picked this restaurant based on reviews and OpenTable availability. The restaurant is a cozy garden level establishment. Our table of four ordered the tagliatelle pasta with meatballs, spinach and ricotta ravioli, squid ink spaghetti, and lasagna. Everybody was satisfied with their meals and each dish is reasonably priced between $15 and $20. We shared a piece of tiramisu for dessert which was delicious. The service was good with a friendly and attentive waitress. The food runner placed all four dishes in front of the wrong person which was comical. Overall, the food and service were good and I would recommend this restaurant.

This restaurant has a great vibe. The food was excellent. We started with roasted carrot salad and meatballs. Both were fantastic. These meatballs possibly may have had the best texture and consistency I've ever tasted. We tasted both the pappardelle and the hand made shredded pasta with red wine. Both were very good. Would definitely go back.

Ciccio is a great neighborhood spot, they have simple but well done dishes. It's an excellent place for a low key dinner. My husband and I shared the Battuta which I didn't like very much simply because I prefer hot eggplant. But the dish was very good; very well seasoned and beautifully presented. We had two of the fresh pasta dishes: strisce ala chiantigiana and pappardelle gialle ala cinghiale. The fresh pasta was outstanding, well seasoned, great taste, served very hot, and it seemed like the overall quality of the ingredients was very good. I was happy with the overall value of the meal.

A group of us had a good experience but not outstanding - portions tasty but small, service intermittently focused on customers, and a number of dishes were out of stock which seemed odd. Some smoothness in service/stocking, and more thoughtful and manageable presentation, could be good. Squid ink pasta wasn't a well integrated dish; carrot salad hard to cut and manage. Nice but not outstanding.
