"Cicada, great history, plenty of movie references as well, but time has passed her by. I had reservations for 7PM on Saturday, I needed to get in earlier to make an appointment and tried to get reservations at 6:30, all booked up (I thought). We got to the restaurant at 6:30 and thought we would have a drink while we wait. The restaurant was empty, only 2 people there! I started to worry a bit, what happened here? The service was great, they sat us immediately. We ordered 3 appetizers and they put them all on one un-descript plate, to the point that we thought we did not get our shrimp appetizer. They brought the missing appetizer out, we already had it, just didn’t know it was shrimp! All in all, the people are nice but this restaurant is"

"Love this place, cannot wait to go back. It is all about the ambience. The lovely architecture, the wonderful performers and the great attire. Food was ok, my friend equated it to wedding catering. The service was also ok, we were flagging down our server more than she was checking in on us.

Don't go for the food or service, go for everything else."

"Love the Cicada Club and it is all about the ambiance! The crowd, the music, and the decor all add to an incredible experience that is straight from the 1940's. The food is acceptable to decent. Remember, you are paying for the incredible atmosphere.

I booked a table with several weeks advance notice asking for a space on the main dance floor. Not only was this not accommodated but we received a table upstairs against a back wall. Not sure what you need to do to get a better seat. Advance booking and requests apparently not important.

Waiter was a nice guy but kitchen and drink service was very slow which I have experienced the last two times I was here.

Despite the issues, I still love this place!"

"We went on a Sunday to take in the phat cat swingers and were completely surprised. I am in the event business and have done several events at the Oviatt penthouse upstairs so I knew what to expect. Once we were in, The service, food, wine selection and our seating area were superb! We sat right next to the stage and were able to take in the dance scene. The Cicada turned an expected Sunday dinner into a scene that titillated all the senses!"

"for anyone who loves swing dancing or going back in time to the 1940's, this is the place!!! SUnday nights only host Maxwell DeMill's Cicada Club, featuring a musical act to get the people dancing on the large dance floor. THis historical Art Deco building (Oviatt Building from 1928) is alive and the perfect place for a nastalgic night of swing and good food."

"It reminds me of an old NY restaurant, decorated in art deco. The food was pretty good for a 15 year old restaurant. It's a definite must eat there once type of place."
