Diner Reviews
  • "Awesome!! Been twice already and will see more of us. The staff are very friendly."

  • "Extremely noisy place. They like to burn bread, from toast in antipasto to my panino to my pizza! Even the shoestring fries were burnt! There wasn't any cheese at all in the two pizzas we ordered! Cocktail drinks were so-so. Frankly speaking, it's a pretentious restaurant, a diner/pub you can find at gas stops dressed up in a tux. Only redeeming feature here is the river view. Nothing more."

  • "Food was just alright - pizza crust dry and overcooked. Service pleasant but many errors which were not charged to us. Very mediocre."

  • "The venue is stunning with a great view if you are lucky enough to sit by a window. Patio should be on the water, not between the restaurant and hotel, makes no sense. We shared an order of the bruschetta and it was delicious. You get 6 slices and can choose 3 different kinds, our favorite was the apple/brie/balsamic. We shared the Arancini and were disappointed as we have had this in other restaurants. There was no no flavor, so we asked for some salt which helped a little. We also had the Cibo pizza. It was good with a nice thin crust. However if you got a piece with no meat there was not much flavor to the sauce. Will try again and have different dishes."

  • "Re quested to have a table facing the river and gave specifics to be on the upper level and this was not the case when we arrived. There was plenty of space up in this area so we were accommodated but were told we only had 2 hours until the next reservation for that table. Not sure why we weren't placed in this area to begin with since it was available. However was thankful we were moved as it just made our dining experience more enjoyable."

  • "We went for our daughters 30th birthday. It was very enjoyable. Food was great, service great, ambience wonderful. My only complaint is it is very loud which was hard for 2 people in our group who wear hearing aids. Parking is a challenge but usually there is something."

  • "Loved the location! Lots of character, great atmosphere and fantastic view of the river. On our visit, we had wonderful service. The staff were very attentive without being overbearing. I would have liked to have seen a somewhat more extensive wine list. The choices were very limited. However, our server was able to give us an excellent recommendation which we thoroughly enjoyed. The pizzas we tried were very flavourful - I was not unhappy with my choice. If I had one complaint, it was that the food wasn't as warm as I would have liked. I like my pizzas hot from the oven! Overall, a favourable first impression!"

  • "Prompt to seat us, but after that took 10 min to get a coffee. didn't come around to see if we wanted more. Fire bells ringing for no apparant reason."

  • "I celebrated a retirement here with four girlfriends......we split an order of antipasto, and for our main course, two of us had margherita pizza, one had pear and prosciutto pizza, and the other person had salmon salad.....everyone was happy with their meals......the house wines were also pretty good!We had a pleasant waitress who was always there when we needed her and were all happy with the quality of service we received. Price for four of us was $180 with tip.......the restaurant had a good vibe and the four of us were unanimous that we would return for another meal or drinks outside....."

  • "Appetizers were great as well as main meal. Our server was friendly and attentive. Desert - chocolate was great. Overall a great dining experience at a very affordable cost."

  • "The service was friendly, the food was delicious. Not a huge selection but what was offered was excellent. Will be back."

  • "Had been here before and it was awesome….second time there not so good! Consistency was the issue. Salad was half the size than it was previously (i.e. two weeks ago) and server we had second time around screwed up the order twice. First time was great- too bad food and service weren't consistent...how does a salad shrink?"

  • "We found it. We tried it. We loved it, We went back. We loved it again. Now we speak about it. Winnipeg was in need of a place like Cibo."

  • "My wife and I attended the restaurant for dinner before a Goldeyes game. Prices were very reasonable and the food was quite good. I would recommend a visit if you are in the area. Parking might be a little scarce."

  • "This a fun and vibrant new restaurant. The location , view and character of the building is fabulous. I enjoyed the salmon salad... Very tasty and just right for a light meal. My friend had the Bolognese pasta which she found was not very meaty. We also tried the Arancini, which were disappointing only because they were not hot. The cheese inside was a cold lump. The menu is small but I don't think that is a negative if the chef does what he offers well. The service was good."

  • "Great value for your money. Food is not too fussy and a decent portion. Overall very happy."

  • "The breakfast menu is very restrained. Mostly eggs. But the quality of what is served is amazing. The preserves served with the crescent were fabulous!"

  • "Service very slow, very few dinner entree's, very disappointed"

  • "We just ate at Cibo and the menu was horrible, overpriced apps, salads and no selection for main course, we ended with pizza which was very bland. Wine selection was very limited and way overpriced, $50.00 wine and pizza??? What a joke and would not recommend anyone eat here ever. Only had a couple of tables with a view and they were booked and yet empty the whole time we were there! Very disappointed and will never go back. Example of a place trying to live of the location without any substance. Only hope is someone else takes this over once is it goes broke which it will!"

  • "I found the location and decor to be very nice. Price was above average considering the food was not. Would have given service 3 1/2 stars (if available), waited for desert too long otherwise good."

  • "Great ambience! I'm so happy that the building was developed!"

  • "Food was great. Servers did not seem very happy to be working which kind of distracted my father and I from our dinner."

  • "Loved the interior and setting on the river. The ordered green salad was fresh but not in bite size pieces. It came in a bowl so made it difficult to cut. The bruschetta with variety of toppings was nicely varied but the toasts were dried and could have benefitted from some brushed oil. We went for 6:30 and the place was not busy. We felt rushed as our salad and bruschetta came simultaneously. For the main course we ordered the steak sandwich, burger and the chicken sandwich. All were good. The shoestring fries were great. The service was OK and pleasant but not attentive enough. Once a large group came in our waitress was busy with it.We had to pour our own wine and had to ask for the check. Next time drinks on the patio."

  • "We came in on Fri night & there were several tables avail. We had a reso but were told we needed to wait. We inquired why as they were SEVERAL tables open. This went back & forth for sometime. The waitress came back to us w/ a new excuse everytime. Even told us that we had to reserve certain tables! The reviews about getting a table, making resos proved to be true, an unorganized mess. We were about to leave as we'd get better service, less hassle across the street at any one of the restaurants. Suddenly a new table became avail. What is the point of making reso only to be hassled, have to wait & be told that we were to speciifcally request certain tables."

  • "Slow service, took a long time to get a server then to get our drinks. The drinks were very good when they did arrive. The food was OK. I will try again but order something different next time. Enjoyed the table and the view though."

  • "The view and the building are lovely. There's an opportunity here to bring the the menu and the food up to match the space."

  • "First impressions are great, the ambiance is really awesome and the whole restaurant has a great feel. However, this restaurant was recommended to me by a foodie friend so I was also expecting the food to deliver. Overall, the menu was disappointingly boring and the food was unimpressive. If you're looking for a restaurant that isn't a chain but has similar food and ok prices, this place works. I think the restaurant has potential to become a gem, but needs more creativity and a real chef's imput. I would love to recommend this place, but, as is, I cannot"

  • "Love the rustic look they maintained from the old pump house. Our server was attentive and fun. The lamb meatballs were amazing, and actually based on quantity could almost me a main course. The star of the night was the arancini appetizer. Very light and creamy with a beautiful crispy coating. Perfect! The meals were all great. Salmon cooked to perfection, moist with scrumptious crispy skin. The ribeyes were cooked perfectly. Only one negative is the shrimp that came with their version of "surf and turf". 3 tiny and bland shrimp. For $35 a plate that was not good value."

  • "Went for an anniversary and was disappointed. Same dinner menu as lunch menu. Appetizers were excellent, wine selection was mediocre at best, entrees were less than satisfying. The location was very nice and the atmosphere was energetic but polite. I would suggest this restaurant as a place to start the evening; appetizers and a glass of wine before moving on to another restaurant for dinner."

  • "We've been walking past this place on noon walks for years so once Cibo opened we decided we wanted to check it out. It took a while to find an evening that worked for all of us but finally Friday July 11 was chosen. There were four of us, all women, so we were hoping for something light but tasty. We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 thin crust pizzas. The appetizers were the spicy lamb meatballs and the evening special, pickerel frittos. Both were very good and the cast iron frying pans they were served in kept everything warm. The pizzas we chose were the Margherita and the Pear and Prosciutto. Both were good but the Pear and Prosciutto was outstanding. The combination of flavours worked really well. We finished with Chocolate 5 Ways!"

  • "I really enjoyed the View and its in a great old re purposed building on the Red River. Everyone else liked their meals more than me, I had the Salmon Salad and while it was good it was very small portion."

  • "A wonderful location and a few really great items on the menu. However the service is slow... But friendly. They need to learn how to do a steak."
    Dined on 7/8/2014
  • "Service was a bit slow...wrong order....espresso and ice-cream was just that...small bit of ice-cream left buy the time we got it...so more like cream...would give it some time before it returned"

  • "great evening out. Food was outstanding. Can't wait to go back!! Great meatless options"

  • "I went to Cibo to celebrate my birthday with friends. The atmosphere was excellent, the food was delicious, but I found our service to be sub-par for a restaurant boasting $20 burgers. Our waitress was too slow refilling our drink orders (the restaurant was not even half full), our appetizer came less than 10 minutes before our food and when my boyfriend told her it was my birthday she snottily told him "we don't do anything for birthdays". She didn't even offer up a desert menu or ask him if we wanted to pay for desert afterwards. So disappointing.. I would not book reservations at Cibo again. I've had much better service at other restaurants in that price point. I would, however, go for lunch if someone else invited me."
