Diner Reviews
  • "I first ate at Cibo Matto 18 months ago and loved it so I had been anxious to return. Too much has changed - and not for the better. We had the calamari and crab cake appetizers. To say the calamari resembled a rubber band is an insult to the rubber band. I sent the first order of crab cakes back because they were still cold inside! We ordered the squash stuffed ravioli and clams in a red sauce. The ravioli should have had a sweet brown sugar butter sauce but something else was added that threw off the flavor profile. I wouldn't eat them. The red clam sauce was a bit off too - orange in color and it seemed to have the same odd flavor as the ravioli. So disappointing and very pricey too. "

  • "Cibo is consistently good, I've never had a bad meal there. Kyla at the bar is awesome, as are the wait staff. The apps and the entrees are excellent but the desserts are only ok. I would definitely recommend trying it if you have not been yet. Try the cod dish, it's fabulous, best cod I've ever had!"

  • "We brought some friends to share a celebration dinner. They arrived ahead of us and from the grins on their faces we could see they were already in good hands and happy. They raved about the breads and the waitress, Jenna. Even a glitch in some of the dinners was handled well and returned with wonderful changes as well as sincere apologies from the chef, manager and server. I had requested a special dessert and it came, timely, with a lit candle. We all agreed we would soon return."

  • "We were in the area and tried Cibo Matto. What a pleasant surprise. The bluefish was absolutely delicious - so fresh and an excellent preparation."

  • "What a great find. The menu is impressive; full of different choices being house made gnocchi to ravioli to seasonal vegetables, etc. My 7 & 9 year old girls found delicious kid choices and they even customized their salads to their taste!"

  • "I was pleasantly surprised with the food here! Absolutely delicious and worth every penny. This area is known for horrible restaurants so it's nice to see one in the mix. Would highly recommend the pork Milanese."

  • "We arrived on time for our reservation to be told it would be a minute to sit, so we ordered a glass of wine at the bar. We waited 15 minutes until the woman at the front came up and said it would only be a few more minutes. As we were waiting for another 15 minutes, they sat 2 couples that walked in withoutb redervations at the bar tables next to us. It would have been good to offer the people with reservations a choice of the table instead of making them wait while others were seated. We were quite upset about that. Other than that, an excellent selection of wine, good appetizers and tasty entre's. My marsala could have used a bit more sauce, but was excellent. Short ribs were cooked perfectly. Overall a long, but good experience"

  • "We made reservations for a Saturday night and when we arrived, there was a bunch of people waiting and we thought oh no we're going to have to wait for our table even though we have reservations....not the case, they took us right on time. Service was excellent; we both enjoyed our dinners: my husband had the bolognese and I had the grilled shrimp/scallops over tortellini. The portions were just right. They also have an outstanding wine list. We noticed the table next to us had pizzas which looked incredible....we will be going back to try their pizza! All in all a great experience and would highly recommend Cibo Matto's."

  • "A packed restaurant at 5:45 on a Friday night is a great sign, and the food did not disappoint. The lobster fettucine was terrific, very flavorful sauce and lots of lobster. Keep it up!!"

  • "Once again Cibo does a good job, which at the end is all you really want is consistency. We love the warm spinach salad, with the side salmon. I had the grilled buffalo sirloin, which wasn't cooked perfectly but no complaints. Would definitely go again - again!"

  • "A welcome relief in the land of suburban chain restaurants. You will feel comfortable whether dressed up or casual. The staff is great and will pick up on your attitude and cater the experience for the table whether you are seeking a formal experience or just out to have some fun."

  • "I can't remember our waitress's name but she was outstanding. We had two elderly people with us who were very slow to make up their minds what they wanted to eat/drink. She could not have been nicer to them, very sweet girl. I had the brussel sprout salad with salmon, the salmon was perfectly cooked but I found the salad tasteless. My husband had the beef bolognese and said it was very good. Our guests both had the mussels and a caeser salad and said they were excellent. We all had apple tart for dessert and it was good, not great, but then we have a baker in the family so it's hard not to compare:) This is a great restaurant with excellent service, we go at least two or three times a month and I would definitely recommend it!"

  • "Food is always very good and the service is excellent! You will not be disappointed. My favorite is the pan roasted cod, it's the best cod dish I've ever had in any restaurant!"

  • "Cibo Matto has gotten better over the years and this week was the best by far. I chose my meal from the specials menu of the night. The ceviche appetizer was excellent. Seafood was very fresh and cold. My entree was Eel medallions with squid ink risotto. Absolutely exquisite. Bravo! The restaurant keeps improving with excellent basics, but has also added a component of items that are creative and unexpected at a rather small restaurant in downtown Mansfield!"

  • "Great night at Cibo Matto as always. I had the chicken piccata which was delicious. My friend had a fish dish (don't remember what!) which was also delicious. Both were very large portions! Service was great as always too. A Wed night and the place was packed. Will definitely be going back again soon!"

  • "I had the oysters on the half shell as an appetizer. I thought overpriced but I have to say even on the small side that they were the best that I have ever had, oh so sweet. The portions are not huge but not petite. Both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and can't wait to return."

  • "Our dining experiences at Cibo Matto have been phenomenal. The food is delicious and the ambiance is outstanding. The amount of food that you get for the price is also something you cannot beat. I have recommended it to people countless times and will continue to do so. Great job Cibo Matto!"

  • "Too much dressing on salad, too much sauce on Marsala and oil on veges for my taste. Cosmo was good. Bread was very good."

  • "The entrees were good, but the sweet potato gnocchi were tough. Desserts were a disappointment especially the brownie sundae which had so much salt in the brownie it was barely edible"

  • "My wife and I have had the pleasure of dining fairly regularly at Cibo Matto since it opened several years ago. This restaurant started out as a local eatery featuring Italian fare with a flair that has evolved into a first rate gem and hot spot for dining on excellent and creative cuisine. The owner and Chef, Peter, always promotes local and fresh ingredients as he continues to creatively tweak the menu and his recipes, the one more mouth watering than the next. The food here is simply outstanding, good cocktails and an excellent wine list., and the service is always friendly and attentive. Always, always, always pay attention to the Specials as they will never cease to amaze you and will keep you coming back time and time again."

  • "We have been a Cibo a few times and this time was the best. The salmon entree is by far the best so far. Also, the short rib is very good. The gingerbread sundae is exceptional. The wine by the glass Malbec is not recommended."

  • "Love this small restaurant. It was deceiving. The place had a city feel of a large place. It was a little loud for a small venue but once the family with small children left, it quieted down. The choices on the menu were fantastic. Everyone can find something as there are many choices. Want a pizza or salad? Or a veal chop? Our table of 6 had it all. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly! We will make this a regular date spot. Our waitress was very attentive. She was perfect! We will be regulars!"

  • "I was looking to try a new restaurant for my birthday. We were in the Norton area and I found Cibo Matto after a google search for Italian Rest. in Mansfield. It is conveniently located of Rt. 140. I liked the open kitchen concept. The menu and atmosphere were great. The food and wine list was very good. It is worth a try!"

  • "Cibo Matto was a perfect restaurant to celebrate my birthday with my honey. Food was outstanding...veal piccata and swordfish. We had calamari and a cocktail to start that were also both perfectly made. The bread from the hearth oven was to die for! We will definitely return!"

  • "Our second time at Cibo. We found the food to be just OK, nothing special. The potato encrusted cod with spinach was fair. The piece of cod was huge and is actually covered with potato slices, which didn't really add any nice flavor. The spinach was good but a little oily. The kids meals (pasta with butter and grilled cheese) were prepared with excessive oil. The bread of the grilled cheese was soaked with oil. I wouldn't let my kid order that again, just too unhealthy, and she didn't really like it anyways."

  • "We started meal with Goat cheese salad... Delicious. I had the brined Hampshire pork chop & my husband had the scollop, shrimp. & cheese tortellini both meals were excellent . For dessert we split the gingerbread cake & ice cream. Overall out server was friendly and service was prompt. It's a unique place with casual atmosphere but upscale menu. We will go back..."

  • "First time visit to this restaurant after receiving a couple recommendations. Arrived 5 mins prior to our reservation time and then waited 20 minutes before we were seated. Water arrived right away and then we waited another 20 minutes before very friendly waitress arrived. No acknowledgement of our wait and rushed us through ordering (drinks and all). Food was slow to arrive. While the appetizer was delicious, the entrees were good, not great and not what was expected. This place has potential if they can figure out how to provide a better, more timely and tasty experience. Will try again just to be sure it wasn't one "off" night for the establishment."

  • "We just moved to Mansfield, so thought we would try this restaurant on our search to find some new go-to spots. The food was delicious - antipasta platter is a must; and i loved the White Clam Sauce. My husband enjoyed the Short Ribs, with a lot leftover. The table next to us raved about the Rigatoni Bolagnese and the Gnocci. The Creme Brulee was good - good sugar crust - though the whip cream wasn't sweet, sorta odd. Our only "issue" was the wait, even with an OpenTable reservation - but it did help us jump the line and we only waited 15 minutes. We will be back - want to try the pizza!"

  • "We made a reservation in which we were sat timely. It was very busy. We were two and sat at a small two person table between two tables of four. There was absolutely no room it was hard for people to get in and out. The service and food were both excellent. It was uncomfortable speaking because we were basically on top of the other two tables and could hear everything they we saying too. The worst part came when the server asked if she could put a pizza tray between our tables. Their pizza hung over on to our table which was too small to begin with. It's unfortunate because it would be wonderful except for being stuffed in a corner. They really should just remove the two person table from that set up."
