CiboA Rambunctious CrowdWe enjoyed this restaurant for our first time visit. It was a little louder and crazier than I was anticipating, but it was a Friday night and it looks like this is a favourite among groups of family and friends. As a couple we found ourselves talking really loudly, so it definitely does not have a romantic ambiance or make it very easy to chat on a date night. Food was delicious and I love that it comes out when it's ready, although they must have forgot our pizza because that took quite awhile to come out. Servers all look like they're having a great time, which really helps with the quality of service in my opinion. Appears to be a great spot to go for a night out with friends with great food and drink!12/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBooked a reservation at CIBOBooked a reservation at CIBO for a corporate dinner with Executive from out of country invited.
AMAZING!!!
Not only were we served promptly, but noone forgot about us tucked away in the wine room! It was Fabulous! The waitress was more than accommodating and the food we "shared" as reccomended was more than enough for 9 men and 1 lady.11/4/2013 12:00:00 AMCibo is one of my favoriteCibo is one of my favorite places to go! It has proved very versatile- excellent for family dinners, dates, and getting together with friends. The food is amazing and I can always expect to leave happy.11/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for sharing and allGreat for sharing and all types of occasions. Our server was great, he didn't over serve us or under serve us.10/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesomeMy first time dining there and it was amazing. I will be back fro sure.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGrabbed a spot on the patioGrabbed a spot on the patio for happy hour with a group of friends... 5$ pizzas and 5$ beer on tap, can't beat that!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat pizza, service OK.The food was great and we'd go back for the pizza. Really nice decor and ambiance. Our waitress could have visited our table a bit more often though. We spent a lot of time waiting for her.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMBlast of a place to go ~ veryBlast of a place to go ~ very vibrant. Noise level depicts the volume of partakers; do not go for quiet conversation! Food is sharable, fun and very good. Rustic décor burstling with good energy. Awesome servers.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurantI have been to cibo several times and it is always consistent. Great food, excellent service. A trendy, young atmosphere, a little loud for my grandparents but they still enjoyed the meal overall. They had plenty of room for our group of seven, with reservations of course. I highly recommend this restaurant6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFamily dinner downtownI was worried to go out for dinner with our energetic 2yr old boy, but felt very comfortable and had a fantastic time at Cibo.
The decor was beautiful and very out of place for calgary, the waitress was extremely welcoming and nice.
Food was original and delicious. And our son had a few good choices on kids menu, and we never felt like we bothered anyone with him being present and sometimes agitated in his high chair.
It was absolutely great to have this dinner outside, in a fancy and original place as a family :)
Great time. we'll be back.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent experience! It was our first time in Cibo and we loved it! Great athmosphere, food amazing and the staff was very friendly! We will defenitly come back soon!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMCIBO 17th Ave.Both our visits have been for special occasions and each time the staff went out of their way to make it extra special. We had lunch there to celebrate the 30th anniversary of our first date, our server treated us to coffee. Next was for a birthday dinner and the birthday boy got a candle on his dessert. Food is very good, service excellent - never felt rushed, helpful staff - a great atmosphere for any occasion. Thanks CIBO on 17th Ave. for a wonderful time!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot for groupsHad a fantastic time for dinner with seven other guests. Wine and pizza were the highlights this time around. Food is always good and service is great. My 'go-to' spot.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic Atmosphere!Fabulous food, fun/vibrant atmosphere, fantastic service, overall an incredible restaurant!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFit for sharingHave been twice now, both times with groups of friends. Great food, fun atmosphere. Can't wait to try the patio and even thinking we could come with our kids for an early dinner.
This last time our waiter was well meaning (kept glasses full, made menu suggestions, checked in) but a bit inexperienced. He spilled a drink on a friend (it happens) but we had to remind him to remove it from the bill and had to ask for napkins to replace the ones we'd used to mop up. Perhaps he needs better training.
One thing Cibo does need to address is serving utensils. The concept is based on sharing (think fresh Italian tapas - so good!) but aside from our pasta and one of the dips, we found ourselves serving from the platters with our dining utensils.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMcibo reviewGreat experience.Loved the food. Loved the decor. Loved the atmosphere. I have been a couple of times and have recommended it to friends. Will be back again soon.!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat with an infantWe were trying to find a spot that would serve good food, have a nice ambiance, but still be OK with an infant. LOVED that Cibo's website shows family dining is welcomed from 5-7. Perfect as we had an 80+ Grandma and an 8-month-old who both needed an early bedtime. The food was great and there were lots of places to walk around with a squirming baby. The noise levels allowed for good conversation, but no worries about a few infant squawks. Our server was relaxed with our rather chaotic table. Grandma had a really nice birthday dinner and we all enjoyed our visit. Thanks!5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMMuch better this timeA few weeks ago I gave Cibo a poor review for their poor service. On Saturday my wife and I decided to try it one more time, despite several instances of great food but horrible service. The food was the best we have had there to date (the coconut crisp dessert was outstanding!), and our server was fantastic. With food and service like that, it is really tough to beat Cibo... We just hope the service can start to be consistently great.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodGreat food, my waitress recommended a wine I didn't like due to the bitter taste.
The pasta portions were extremely small and did not fit with the theme of made to share.
Delicious food.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMNeed to change red wine optionsI go to Cibo once a week, and the red wine glass options are extremely bad. You used to have a Malbec from Argentina that was OK, now, it has been changed to a really bad one. All the other options are very weak, many being sweet and generating bad headaches the next day. I would recommend incorporating a Luigi Bosca Malbec from Argentina (average bottle price in retail of $ 14) or a Louis Laton Pinot Noir (average bottle price in retail of $ 22). That would really improve your options considerably. You shouldn't have great food and no good red wine to go along. Also, the music is too loud, really making it difficult to carry on a conversation.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMCibo ExperienceThe tables have decent space between them. The servers are attentive, fun and do not hover over you. It is extremely noisy - I mean, it can be hard to hear your guest across from you. I couldn't recommend it to people who want intimate dining.
The food is delicious. We shared two pizzas (and ended up taking some home). They come fresh from the oven (cooked on the oven floor, not pan cooked which is the way we like it). We shared their version of "tapas" to start, three wonderful small bowls of bruschetta, eggplant dip and a smoked salmon salad - to die for - with a basket of small toasts - crisp and flavourful.
The desserts were a disappointment. One small scoop of gelato - not acceptable for the price.
The prices are good otherwise.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat casual diningDined here with a friend May 22/13. Good vibe amosphere. Had reservations and were seated immediately. Servers very attentive and timely. Great menu for sharing. Wednesday is $5 wine night which is nice in an overpriced city like Calgary. The lamb meatballs were heavenly-moist and flavourful...might go back on meatball night! My only complaint would have to be the polenta fries. While they were wonderfully crispy, they needed salt and I am not a salt fiend at all. The dipping sauce that went with them saved the dish. The mushroom pizza also very tasty-no tomato sauce which I prefer. Shared several appetizers and then the pizza and the gnocchi. Was a lot of food. Will definitely return.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely SurpriseMy friend and ate on the patio and it was an lovely oasis! Both the Food and the Service were terrific - try the pulled chicken salad!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLives up to the HypeEveryone I know has already been to CIBO and raved about it, but sometimes restaurants don't live up to all the hype so I didn't try it until recently. However, I was pleasantly surprised! The weather was really nice that day, and lucky for us, CIBO had a patio spot available. The patio is really well done, and there are lots of flowers making it really pretty. The seating is a bit cramped, but once we moved the table so we could both sit comfortably, the rest of the experience was great! The service was impeccable, we ordered 3 appetizers and the spaghetti for two for our entree. It was so tasty and I had enough left over for the next day! Bottom line, tasty food, good portions, great service, lovely patio-- what more could you ask for?5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, staff needs a kickWe have been to Cibo numerous occasions, and keep coming back for the food. The staff seem to be more interested in chatting with each other than getting you another drink or clearing your plates. Food comes out quickly, once ordered, thank god. There was one point where we didn't see our waitress for 20 minutes, and when we asked someone else for more water and clean plates, he didn't return either. It's too bad because the food is really great!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMJust Lovely!Really wonderful experience here. The food and service were phenomenal- and we were a table of 6.
Very exceptional.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for groupsWe went there with 7 family members and loved the family style meal. The music was way too loud though, we had to yell across the table just to talk to each other. Food was great, and can out very fast, considering the place was packed. The server didn't come around too often, which was nice but also inconvenient if you needed to leave quickly.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food and Service! This was our first time at Cibo and we had excellent service and great food. We will be back for sure!!!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat HangoutServers are very attentive. The food is tasty although some might find the portions a bit on the small side. The atmosphere is as should be expected of a restaurant this size on 17th ave. All in all a great place to hang out and have a few drinks or even a date night.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic DishesThe casual atmosphere is fantastic to visit with friends and eat good food.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food/poor serviceGreat 'abandoned warehouse' atmosphere. Food was fantastic. We had pear pizza, wide boar bacon pizza, gnochi, and sword fish entrées. Caprese salad was fab. Waitress was indifferent. First 2 entres arrived 10 minutes before the last 2 so the first 2 people had the choice of being rude or having cold food. Waitress did not offer an apology. She was disinterested all evening and didn't even introduce herself. It was sad that her attitude affected the experience. I will go back but maybe not for a while...5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food!I really enjoyed the food. I recommend the Pear Pizza. Really unique dishes. The only think that took away from the food is the slow service and a non-attentive waitress.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous Place!I love coming to CIBO! This was my fourth time and it has never disappointed.
Food and service is consistently top-notch!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Gluten Free PastaThe best gluten free pasta I have had in the city....the noodles were awesome, not mushy like some places. Thumbs up!!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe needed a quick dinner beforeWe needed a quick dinner before an Arts Function and the service was prompt efficient and got us out on town. FOOD and Wine were delicious5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMSmall plates and lively atmosphereGreat appetizers and small entree plates all meant for sharing. Perhaps one of the best scallops I've had - cooked perfectly with a little bacon wrap. Delish! White Sangria drink special was the perfect warm weather bevvie. We sat inside, but the patio looked great too.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMPatio season has arrivedA girlfriend & I decided to try out Cibo's patio. The restaurant was busy, with huge demand for the patio that day, and although patio tables can't be guaranteed, I think the OpenTable reservation helped. Despite being right on 17th, they've managed to create a private but lively patio on the busiest pub & bar street in town. We only ordered their olives & almonds (wine was our focus at the time), but that came quickly & was delicious. I've been before & the food has never disappointed. Great new addition to the Red Mile.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMServer was absolutely amazing,Server was absolutely amazing, very imformative about what cibo represents and all the food, while somehow not being at all cheesy. Food runner, server, and other employees asked how our experience was. Food was amazing! Could not ask for more :)5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, should add Vegan optionCibo has excellent food, however it is very noisy, which makes it hard to keep a nice conversation without yelling. I really love this place, but I would suggest they incorporate some vegan dishes. That would be highly appreciated and would make we want to go there even more!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent waitress!! The onlyExcellent waitress!! The only fault was it was very very loud so hard to visit with a large table.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a very nice evening,We had a very nice evening, good food, everyone enjoyed the tuscan bread salad and the rotissiere pork. Our server Taryn was excellent, she was attentive and accomodating and fun and she told us some interesting history about the building. We brought some out of town guests and they had a different eating experience for them and had a great time.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFood that Never DisappointsI have now been to Cibo more than any other restaurant in Calgary in the last year and have yet to be disappointed. You may be able to specifically find a better pasta or pizza in Calgary if you look hard enough, but for an assortment of great choices under one roof, you will be hard pressed to find anything better than CIbo. The service was amazing even though the restaurant was packed. I will most definitely be back soon.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food as always -Delicious food as always - reservations are a must for Friday nights!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were there the other night,We were there the other night, the food was fantastic! We had the wild boar pizza and the ravioli and both were amazing. I would highly recommend Cibo and I will be going back.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service was great.Food and service was great. Menu for sharing is great as it adds variety.
I would certainly go back.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
