Diner Reviews
  • "I visit Cibo once a week at least. Special occasions as well as group lunches for the 5 dollar pizza. The atmosphere rocks and at night is suitable for romantic dinners! Love it everytime "

  • "I went to Cibo with two friends, the food was fantastic, the service was great, and it was enjoyed by all. I love the unique menu choices and am looking forward to trying the new spring menu. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience."

  • "So, we booked 3 weeks in advance on open table to get a 7:30 spot on a Saturday as it was one ofthe rare times we had a sitter for our two young kids. Seated in the far corner upstairs next to te washroom and left looking at the overflowing pile of gargabe at the servery station and listening to waiters talk loudly about a party the previous weekend. We asked for a different table and told there were none. Then proceeded to watch a couple without a reservation get seated at a much better spot by the window. Although the food was really good and our server was pleasant, it was really had to enjoy the ambiance of the resturant when we were stuck in a spot that was not pleasant to be in."

  • "This is a great place as a more casual dining experience. Lots of items to share and their Tapas type items were delish. The price is extremely reasonable for how good the food was. I will definitely be dining here again!"

  • "We arrived for a birthday celebration dinner and started with appetizers: golden beets (my favorite simply delicious), the ribs, the sauce was fantastic and the calamari, a bit chewy but we prefer our calamari with a batter on it. Our main was the wild boar pizza which was tasty and the mushroom pizza also tasty but both were fairly greasy. For dessert we shared some tiramisu and it was divine!! the best we have tasted in this city!! Overall the service was great and helpful the place was busy and they managed to keep everything running smoothly."

  • "I like Cibo a lot, The food was great, very flavorful and the Pizza crust was really good! I like the whole share plates trend and Cibo has a great menu for this"

  • "I will definitely be going back to Cibo, can't wait to try it in the summer when the patio is open. Looks awesome! The service was a little slow at first but she made up for it by being super friendly & knowlegeable. 4 girls on a Tuesday night worked out great because they had some pasta's & pizza's on for $12. Excellent for sharing. Pizza was some of the best I've had!"

  • "First time here and I thought it was going to be a small restaurant. Not at all, you walk inside and it's 2 stories and has a big outside patio. I was there with 2 friends on a Tuesday night and the place was hoping. It was great, not an empty seat in the place, really good vibe and ambience. They had great pizza and pasta specials for $12. We shared an appetizer plate where you could chose a variety of small bowls for $18. We tried 5 and they were all amazing. I will be going back here for sure!"

  • "there are several reasons i would not recommend this restaurant 1- My reservation was for 9, when i called to confirm it, i (again) confirmed it for 9 people but upon arrival the table was set for 8. 2- Then, a blonde girl asked us if we wanted drinks/wine so we said we did, then she said at least 5 times, that she wasn't our server....then why was she asking us if we wanted drinks? 3- The menu....not one person at our table could fully understand the menu- it is not consumer friendly. 4- When my brother kindly asked our server if they could simply make a pizza with just cheese and pepperoni on it she had no answer. 5- One of our bottles of wine was corked"

  • "Bit of a wait for table despite lots of free tables. Waitress harried and forgot drink. Small bruschetta portion but yummy. Good pizza."

  • "My husband and I always enjoy Cibo. It has a great atmosphere, it's always busy (so book ahead). We love the feel of the restaurant. It's unique, funky, plenty of character with the brick walls and low hanging lights. We prefer to sit upstairs if we can. What we like about Cibo most is that we are never rushed. The food is delicious, and great for sharing, and there's lot's of choice. We have been to Cibo with friends too and it's great for groups also. The staff are always helpful and attentive."

  • "First time to the restaurant and I will definitely be back! From our appetizers to our pizzas the food was incredible! We stopped at the bar before and after our dinner and the bartender was awesome! Friendly and great cocktails!"

  • "The pizza was incredible.. One of the best I've had! Unique kinds and the pizza crust... Best I've ever had."

  • "Always a great atmosphere here, wait staff are excellent and food is fantastic. Pizza is particularly good - but I've also enjoyed the pasta, and the swordfish. Highly recommend this as a fun night out - can be a bit loud, and crowded, so not necessarily a romantic night out, but a great place to go with friends."

  • "Group of 7 went to Cibo (for first time) for my birthday. Ordered two apps, two pasta dishes, two pizzas, and the group-size porcetta followed by three desserts to share. Everything was perfect: food, service, and atmosphere. Several of us thought the pizza was the best pizza we've had in Calgary (and that includes all of the famous Neapolitan style pizza places in Calgary). Portion sizes were generous and we all left completely satisfied. Cibo is now among our favourite restaurants in Calgary and we are looking forward to going back again - soon I hope!"

  • "Absolutely loved the food and ambiance of this restaurant--so much so, I was back the following weekend! Definitely would recommend if you are a pizza/pasta/wine lover."

  • "Great variety of italian inspired creative choices. The new lunch board concept is terrific. Smaller portions allow for a greater mix of choices. Best pizza crust outside of Italy!"

  • "If we want Italian food, Cibo is our go-to place because of its awesome flavours and really authentic, well seasoned pizzas and entrees. The vibe in Cibo is always upbeat - casual but classy and you see a wide range of people dining on here. Families are aplenty (even with kids in tow) although I don't see a lot of high chairs for babies. This last visit, the main host was very accommodating but our server was a bit off. This didn't dampen our experience though but it was like a sore thumb considering that we always have friendly and helpful service here all the time. Love the changing menus and my friends (who are first timers) are impressed!"

  • "I had my parents in from out of town...my dad doesn't eat meat outside of fish. Cibo's menu left no shortage of delicious options. We ended up ordering too much but were happy to leave with leftovers. Our server was energetic and help but was obviously short staffed. We were patient and rewarded with a great meal at a reasonable price....Meatball Mondays are great!"

  • "I love to see that Calgary Fine Dining is becoming available in different forms. Cibo provides fine dining without the high price tag and formality, which is a nice reprieve. The service was amazing, our food was ready within minutes and delicous. I love the made to share concept, which reminds me of family dinners. The scodellina is my favorite! One of my favorite Calgary restaurants."

  • "There are no words for the pizza dough. As an Italian man I've tried many a pizza dough. This dough is so fluffy, I just can't wait to eat it again. The fresh ingredients make this place special and the fact that they sometimes "run out" of pizza dough shows that they don't mass produce their ingredients. Cudos Cibo. Also Meatball monday is the best deal in town."

  • "great time at cibo! we enjoyed the happy hour pizza. great value! little disappointed they wouldn't let us pack up two slices to take home. I get that it was happy hour and $5. but it's not like we were trying to bring an entire pizza home. it was two slices and we dine here for "non-happy hour" meals all the time. other than that, the entire experience was awesome!! love the casual rustic atmosphere!"

  • "Cibo is huge and had a friendly vibe when we first arrived but the noise level became so high as the evening went on, we ended up shouting at each other to be heard, The Spinach salad was great and the best part of the meal. We found the food on the whole quite mediocre. Service was spotty and slow."

  • "Our food was great like usual. Only downside was that our waitress kept forgetting everything. Our drinks took over 10 mins to get, and she forgot our water. Asked for chilie oil with our pizza never got it until we asked someone else to bring it for us. Took our drinks away and didn't ask if we wanted another until we asked. It was quite frustrating never happened before, hopefully it doesn't again if we return. Other than that our food was good."

  • "Only options for lunch were pasta and pizza., which are good.. Server was a bit weird and said nothing when we were done paying and about to leave (no thank-you, no smile, she just took the bill and simply walked away..)"

  • "The pizzas have great and innovative combinations of ingredients, which me and my girlfriend found delicious! The portions may be a little small to share, given the price. The staff is very nice and helpful and the interior decirations are just amazing."

  • "Service was good. The arancini was way too salty. The kale salad had so much garlic that it was barely edible. The rest of the meal was ok. I've been to Cibo a few times and have usually left happy. Unfortunately this was not one of those times."

  • "Very good food, vibrant, good location, a little to noisy for me."

  • "We have been to Borgo several times and have always enjoyed the food, service and ambiance. The servers are very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list and are not overly intrusive. I like that there are sharing plates as well as appetizers that come by the piece, e.g. arancini can be ordered per piece. It does get fairly loud here, but not so much that one can't enjoy a conversation. We have sat at the communal table which is a nice option if you don't have reservations."

  • "Cibo normally delivers a great experience but this visit left us questioning a return anytime soon. The server was absent most of the night and when she was available the exchange was confrontational. Our pizza had an odd colour and fast to it, the server didn't acknowledge our concern or offer to further investigate it, she rather said that's what happens to pizza. Needless to say we didn't finish our meal and we had extensive waiting periods in order to pay the bill. All this on a Thursday night - no specials or anything so not sure why it was such a challenge to have good service."

  • "First time to Cibo a few nights ago. Greeted warmly and sincerely at the door and shown immediately to the table reserved. We had two servers, both the right amount of talkative and knowledgeable of the menu. The glutenfree pasta was absolutely delicious, huge portions, we took half of it home for sure. Great atmosphere, good times all around."
